~ EMOTIONS AREN'T THAT EASY TO BORROW ~

It was yet again the moment where her virtue was bound to clash with her fate to strive for its survival. And like always the result was very much evident… Virtue would lose… Again!

A tear rolled down from the corner of her eye as the Sun hid behind the mountains. Closing down the window she waited with a bated breath for her struggle to begin. That was how her life had been for last two years.

Every night… A new man!

Though she felt disgusted, she couldn’t refuse for she dreaded the thrashing of burning rods. Ever since she was sold, her right to dream was snatched. All she had were nefarious gazes and filthy touches all over her body that made her sick to the deepest core of her heart, crumbling her emotions and feelings to pieces.

But who cared for her feelings?! The world was too cruel to be true and she was nothing more than a commodity for everyone out there. A commodity… that was destined to go from the hands of one man to another every other night!

She took a deep breath putting up the façade all over again as the door opened and in came a hesitant young man. His disarrayed gesture screamed… It was his first time there. But that never made any difference. He was just one of them yet again! Sighing, she started working on her hair removing the rubber band.

“Don’t.”

His voice stopped her.

“I won’t be doing anything. So, please don’t. I didn’t want to come but my friends forced me to”, he said avoiding her eyes, his breaths coming out in nervous trembles.

“So, why don’t you leave?”, she asked narrowing her eyes. She was obviously confused.

Fiddling nervously with his fingers, he sat on the edge of the bed, “Your owners won’t like that. You won’t get your money.” Wait… Was this man being concerned for her?!

“Then, are you going to sit here the whole night?” She asked and though she tried, she couldn’t hide the amusement in her voice.

“We can talk… if you want. I’m Siddharth. You?”

“Meera”, she smiled.

-----------------

“Won’t your friends make fun of you? All we did the whole night was just talk”, Meera asked as the daylight had hit the room and Siddharth prepared to leave.

The question caught him off-guard. Well, as far as he knew his notorious insolent friends, they would try to squeeze all the juicy details out of him and would definitely torment him knowing that he couldn’t even kiss the girl.

He gave a few uncertain looks to Meera not knowing how to react but soon it struck him.

“Well in that case…”, he came forward and holding her cheek in his palm, he gave a hesitant soft kiss on her forehead before leaving.

And with that heartfelt gesture, came to an end the most beautiful night of her life. She kept gazing at his retreating figure until he was out of sight.

Meera was happy… for she knew now that there was someone, somewhere out there who didn’t consider her just a toy for pleasure. She, too, was a human and though hard to feel but she too had emotions!
