xiii. her night begins

Y/N'S  POV

Gojo looked at me through the rear view mirror, I raised my brows, anticipating what he had to say.

"You two have to look like you're each other's dates. It'll serve as a good cover."

Megumi grimaced, "Tch, I'll only take that so far."

"My apologies Y/n, he's not very keen on social graces."

"Shut up."

"See." Gojo winked.

I shifted in my seat, "What do you want us to do? In order to look like dates, that is."

Gojo stroked his chin, "Mm... Stay close to each other. And you, make sure to introduce her as your date if anyone asks. You kids can be creative with it."

I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or dead serious.

"I have a boyfriend, by the way."

Megumi tensed up. Gojo couldn't help but burst out in laughter.

"This kid-" He slapped Megumi on the back, "I'll watch over him and make sure he isn't too touchy."

"Fuck are you saying!" Megumi's face was red.

I giggled from the back seat behind my hands. He was so easy to rile up.

"Megumiiii." I leaned against the back of his chair.

"What?"

"Remember you said we'd explore a little before the party."

"You still wanna do that?" He grumbled in annoyance.

I frowned. "I'll go by myself."

"Fine."

"It worked."

The campus was flooded with cars and classy limousines across its driveway. Since Gojo was a staff member, he had a nice designated parking spot in the underground garage.

"You can hear the music from down here." Megumi said, shutting the car door.

Gojo rolled his eyes. "Drunk middle aged school teachers are a nightmare to deal with."

"Wouldn't that include you?" I chuckled.

"Ah-. I haven't even hit thirty!"

Megumi laughed slyly as the three of us headed towards the elevator. Everything was pristine, even the damn parking garage had not one crack in its concrete. Not even a single piece of trash. Jujutsu tech was probably the cleanest place in the city.

Gojo pressed for the second floor in the elevator. We entered into a rather decelate lobby. Glossy hardwood floors and paintings lined the corridor.

"Wow, this place is so pretty. I wish I went to a school like this!" I said in awe.

"It's dull." Megumi chuckled.

"Always such a downer."

"I'm a realist."

"Sure.." I said.

The chatter of the party slowly started to pick up as we made our way around the school and to the base of two towering double doors. This must've been the hall.

The three of us paused before the door as the party laid just ahead. I was a bit nervous.

"So, you two remember the plan? Look like you're dates." Gojo said.

"How do you want us to do-." Megumi was quickly cut off as Gojo scooted behind us and pushed Megumi and I closer together, our shoulders clashed.

"Hey!" Megumi said.

"We really have to play the part huh?" I said.

"It's for your own good. At least a good amount of boys will keep off you y/n if you look occupied. It should give us a good cover. I'm not sure if this little brat told you about what happens if they find out you're branded by Sukuna."

"Yeah... he told me. Don't worry, I'll play the part."

Megumi gestured his arm out for me to grab. His face was turned away, cheeks lightly blushed. I smiled and grabbed on.

Gojo nodded, now we were ready. He pushed open the oversized doors and we were flooded with everything you could imagine would be at such a sophisticated event.

Constant chatter from every corner, elegant chandeliers, smooth violin and a dramatically grand hall. The ceiling was like a four story building, monstrous and lofty. Guests were dressed in crisp suits followed by polished women. It was crowded but somehow, eyes seemed to beam in our direction as soon as Gojo opened the doors.

I guessed that they were looking at Gojo because well, he's Gojo... He's pretty popular from what I hear.

I found myself slightly clutching Megumi's arm tighter out of nerves. Gojo grimaced and said, "I think their looking at you y/n."

"Me?" I whispered.

"This isn't good. I thought we'd be lowkey." He said.

My heart beat, I saw eyes slowly scan me. I didn't know what to do.

"Megumi." I murmured.

"Hm?"

"I'm about to do something that might make you flustered but just ignore it okay."

"What are talking about?"

I took a deep breath and turned to give him a kiss on the cheek. I could feel his body immediately tense up. His skin was warm. Gojo chuckled beside us.

"Yup, I take it back, you brats will be just fine."

"Eh?" Megumi hummed. His face was bright red.

"Sorry for making you blush." I said.

"Tch, you didn't make me blush, it's just warm."

"It's forty degrees outside Megumi."

"Well then it's natural."

"Awe, do I make you nervous." I teased.

"You're the devil."

"Thanks."

A skinny older woman came over to greet Gojo with open arms. She sported a black fur scarf and a glass of champagne.

"Oh, Mr. Satoru! What a delight to see you. Looking sharp as ever."

She gave him a hug.

"Nice to see you too Miss. Yang."

"Ah yes! And Mr. Fushiguro, who's this young beauty you have by your side?" She winked.

Megumi cleared his throat. "This is y/n."

"Hi Miss. Nice to meet you." I said and stretched out my hand to shake hers. She eyed me up and down with the curve of her red lips. Almost as if she was studying me. Like she knew something about me.

Gojo took notice and gestured the woman away on a whim to take her to meet other people.

I sighed. "I felt like she knew all my secrets."

"That's how people are around here. They're invasive... It'll be a long night. Just stick with me, okay?"

I turned to look him in the eyes warmly. "I trust you." I said.
