Chapter 4-Raja Suheldev

Raja Suhaldev was the eldest son of King Mordhwaj of Shravasti. His story starts when Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Masud, a nephew of Mahmud of Ghazni, invaded India at around the age of 16. He had crossed river Indus and conquered Multan, Delhi, Meerut, and Satrikh. He made Satrikh, the capital of his kingdom. He then dispatched armies to defeat the local kings of the region. Sayyad Saif-ud-din and Mian Rajjab were dispatched to Bahraich, to defeat the local kings over there. But little did they know that the Raja of Bahriach and other neighboring Hindu kings had formed a confederation, which even after the defeat at the hands of Gazi Saiyyed Salar Sahu, continued to threaten them. Around 1033 CE, Masud himself arrived to give support to the army and check their advancement. He gave defeat after defeat to the kings who were his enemies, until the arrival of Suhaldev. Suhaldev's army defeated Masud's army, and Masud was killed in the ensuing battle in 1034 CE.

I feel very sad to tell that instead of naming him as the brave king and finding out more about his story, people are using him as their political tool. But I hope in upcoming years, his story is more explored and we get to know more about him.
