Prove Thyself
"-ou alright?"
Your brain feels muddled, hazy. The sound of someone's voice tries to break through.
"-perstar?"
Who is that? Where are you? You squeeze your eyes, trying to come to. Wherever you are, it's not comfortable.
"Please! Say something!" The voice registers to you more clearly now. You blearily open your eyes to find a highly stressed out Freddy leaning over you, his eyes shining bright blue. "There you are!" he says, relieved.
You put your hand to your forehead and try to sit up but groan at the pain in your neck and head. Freddy's gentle paws help you, moving you up against the wall for support. Your eyes, still adjusting, rake over to the unmoving form of Moon.
Moon.
The virus.
You...you remember now. It tricked you, got Freddy to leave the room to attack you while vulnerable. You managed to stick your backup USB into Moon's frame and purge it. "It's gone...?" you murmur, not meaning to say it out loud but it happens in your daze.
Freddy responds, voice unsure, "Moon has not gotten back up since I found you with him. I believe 'it' is gone."
You moan in pain, taking your glasses off to rub your eyes. "I need...to check..." you say, trying to get up off the floor. The Glamrock prevents you, though, gently pushing you back down.
"Please, stay down. You're in a lot of pain." You glance at Moon's form and Freddy follows it. "He is currently in power-saving mode. I believe your method of removing the virus took a lot out of his systems. He will be alright," he explains, putting his paw on your shoulder, causing you to look up at him, blurrily seeing him smiling at you.
You rub your eyes again and put your glasses back on, blinking away the dust. "You got the cord?" you question, taking in your surroundings. You're a few steps away from the big red doors leading out of Parts and Service. You never even made it that far before that thing pounced on you.
You take a shaky breath, those previous moments coming back to you in full force. The pain, the terror. You don't know what it wanted with you, you barely remember what all it said. All you recall is the intense pressure and pain your head and mind endured as it gripped you tightly.
Freddy looks behind him and you follow his gaze. "It is hooked up and ready to charge the Attendant. I wanted to make sure you were alright first."
You palm your knee and finally pick yourself up, causing Freddy to back up and stand as well, eyes still flitting with unease. "Okay, let's do it." You hobble over to the module and glance at that damned chamber, seeing the charging cable hang from the ceiling of it.
Freddy steps inside, Moon carefully being carried, and sets him lying down on the chair, chest down. Freddy opens his back up and plugs the cord in. You watch the computer screen and see it immediately recognize the animatronic's presence.

You sigh. It might be a while until he boots up for you to check him out fully. You groan and hang your head, feeling a headache coming along. "Maybe you should rest at home?" Freddy suggests, his voice taking a more stern, fatherly tone. You manage to give him a small smile.
"Maybe...but I want to be here when he wakes up." Freddy hums at that, understanding.
"Perhaps you could head up to my room to rest on my couch then. I would like to keep an eye on you." You raise an eyebrow at him, confused. He shifts in place. "I believe you have a concussion," he tells you.
You raise a hand and touch the back of your head, wincing at the lump you can feel. Yeah, the virus knocked you down pretty hard, didn't it? You nod at the bear and reluctantly take your hands off the module keyboard.
Freddy puts a paw to your lower back and guides you back to his room where he makes sure you're comfortable on his couch before taking a seat at his vanity desk. You lean your head back and close your eyes, focusing on your breathing.
Moon will be okay. Sun will be okay. The virus is gone. You're sure of that now. The program you stuck directly into Moon is strong, you're confident in your capabilities. They've never failed you yet.
Painful rumbles coming from your stomach breaks your thoughts. You get up and head to the door. "I'm going to go get something to eat. I'll be back soon." You jab a thumb in the general direction of everything as you tell Freddy.
The bear nods, "Alright, I'll be here."

The trek to Mazercise is a long one, with it being on the top floor of the three story building, but worth it since you've got a strange hankering for their specific nachos. When you reach the place, the inside is just as empty as everything else. Not like you were expecting the hustle and bustle if it were open, but it's still a jarring feeling being somewhere that's usually so lively.
The snack counter section is, however, surprisingly empty. You thought there would be a STAFF bot manning it like everywhere else but... You approach it anyway and find a button off to the side.
CALL A STAFF BOT
You shrug. Might as well. You still want those nachos. The button makes an audible 'click' sound as you press it but other than that, nothing happens. You almost give up on your quest for cheesy chips when the sound of something rolling on carpet bombards your ears.
You turn around to find a STAFF bot wheeling up and around the corner, settling right in front of you. "Welcome to Mazercise snack station. How can I help you?" it says plainly.
"Roxy's Rockin' Nachos please." You hand it your card.
It stares at you for a moment before saying, "Excellent choice," and wheeling off to what you presume would be a kitchen? You're not sure what's behind the wall and you really don't care so long as nachos are in your near future.
It returns less than five minutes later with your food. You thank it before heading over to one of the many beanbags strewn around the main area. After the first bite, you quickly down the rest of it after realizing how hungry you were.
You really didn't eat much when you worked on the anti-virus did you? It's nothing new, though, but with this headache food feels so much better as it fills your empty stomach.
You think back to Moon. How is he? How much of anything did the virus make him watch? Was he fully conscious or only sometimes? You have a lot of question but you're not sure how well he'd take to them.
You've never done something like this to such a sentient AI, you've no idea how he'll react. He's been under the influence for so long you feel like it might be the equivalence of coming down from a high.
You sigh and go to throw away your trash. On the walk back, you have half the mind to go grab your laptop to get started on that firewall for the whole building. You need to speak to management about that first, though.
Right after you check over Moon's well-being. You don't want to get thrown out before doing so as you're unsure if they'll offer you a job or not. Maybe they only said they might so you'd do a better job. Joke's on them, you put your everything into every job, so...
Your watch beeps. Time to get back.
~~
Freddy greets you as you return to his green room and you give him a tired smile in return, flopping down on the couch. "Do you think he's charged yet?" Freddy hums with his eyes closed.
"The Daycare Attendant has a different battery than us Glamrocks. I believe he's either fully charged, or very close to it," he tells you, reopening his eyes. You stand up, excited yet nervous about finally meeting Moon face to face.
"Okay, I'm gonna head back down and finish my inspection." You start to do just that, heading through the back door. Freddy follows up until the doorway.
"Would you like me to accompany you again?"
You think about it for a moment. You know Moon doesn't like Parts and Services from what Sun has told you, so you don't want to overwhelm him with Freddy standing over you as if the two of you were expecting him to attack. No, that wouldn't make him feel safe at all.
He's probably going to be very scared? You're not sure, but you are going to try to make this process go smoothly and quickly for his sake.
You shake your head. "No, that's okay, Freddy. I'll be fine." The bear looks unsure, eyes furrowed, but relents with a sigh.
"Well, alright. If I do not see you come up within an hour, I will come down to check on you." You shake your head with a smile. He's such a papa bear.
"Thanks, Fredbear," you tell him as the elevator doors close.
The walk down the short hallway into the main area is quiet. When you enter, the chamber is still closed and Moon is still lying on the chair, seemingly having never moved an inch. You check the module.

You sigh. Still a little to go but surely you could wake him up to do the inspection while he's charging, right? So, with a shaky breath, you enter the protective chamber and get started in plugging in the proper cords to hook him up to the system fully instead of just to charge.

The moment that button is pressed, you hear the fans within Moon begin to spin loudly before quieting down.
~Daycare Attendant Moon starting up...
You wait with bated breath as the animatronic begins twitching. You hope and pray he's alright and the virus didn't damage his internal software too bad. Finally, the bot's arm reaches behind him and feels the cord attached into his back, ripping it out.
Then, he extends his arms and lifts himself up off of the chair, swinging his legs over and standing up straight. His head finally swivels and meets your wide gaze. His eyes narrow at you. You audibly gulp and turn back to the monitor.
"...let me out." You jump at the voice, It's still low and rumbly, but it's not as scratchy as it was when the virus used it.
You blink a couple times. "Huh?"
He slams a hand against the glass and you could've sworn he rolled his eyes. "Out."
You harden your face as best as you can. "Sorry but I can't. I need to check your system thoroughly to make sure the virus is fully gone."
"It's gone."
"Unfortunately," your voice reverts into professional mode, "the virus has already tricked me into thinking that. This won't take that long, I promise." You give him a smile but he only stares at you.
He sits back on the chair and watches you work. "I haven't introduced myself yet." You turn to look at him as a program scans his files. "My name is-"
He interrupts you, "I know."
You frown. "Right..." you whisper, recalling what the virus said. You scroll down a list of his active programs, spotting one in particular. "Have you been able to re-link yours and Sun's connection?"
At the mention of his brother, Moon shifts. "...no," he says. You raise an eyebrow.
"No? You can't?" You start typing some things in before his grumbling stops you.
"Don't want to..." Now you're even more confused. He doesn't want to talk to Sun? Sun's been dying to talk to him and now that he's back he doesn't want to?
"I don't understand," you tell him, eyes still scrolling through his processes. The Lunar jester doesn't respond after that. After about fifteen minutes of combing through his system, you smile wide at the lack of virus clinging on to anything.
You go to open the chamber but stop, the mouse cursor hovering over the button. You're fine. You did it. It's gone. You get yourself to click the button as Moon watched with interest. The door releases air and opens wide.
Moon doesn't leave, though, seemingly eyeing you in suspicion. You take a couple steps back, hoping that'd make him more comfortable. But the back of your mind is wondering why he's so skeptical in the first place. I mean, he was somewhat aware during your time here, right? He knows your name so he should also know you fixed him.
The bells on his wrist and shoes jingle softly as he steps out of the chamber. "Anyway..." you rub the nape of your neck, "sorry again about all of this. I know you're not a fan of this place." Moon nods. You chuckle and add, "And to be honest, I'm not exactly its biggest fan either..." Moon stays silent and you clear your throat. "We should head back up to the daycare..." you say, jabbing your thumb behind your back.
~~
Moon stalks behind you as he lets you lead the two of you back to his home. He goes into his system to check out everything for himself and while he didn't lie about not reopening his link to chat with Sun, he did take down the wall that prevented them from feeling each other.
And all at once, since it's been down, Moon has not stopped feeling the array of emotions Sun has been sending him. Elation, excitement, gratitude, longing, love. Moon finishes his little self-check and tunes back into reality. The two of you make it back and you head around to the door the leads to their room.
The Lunar attendant gazes in confusion, wondering how you knew about their secret passageway up but ignores you and lifts himself up to the balcony. His eyes rake over all of your equipment and things. Your notebook is strewn, left open on a couple pages filled with chicken scratch. Honestly, he's seen children write better.
Your laptop is closed and there's energy drink cans left in disarray. He furrows his eyes and grumbles at the mess, his cleaning protocol interrupting his thoughts, so he gets to picking up the place.
"Oh! Sorry about all those..." you startle him but he doesn't show it, only glancing your way before continuing his work. "Um..So I'm going to email management and let them know I finished the job..." You throw your hands up in defense and quickly back track when he spins his face to look at you with a funny look. "Not-not that you were just a job! Sun is my friend and I was happy to help reunite you two..."
He rolls his eyes. "Get on with it..." He wants to know what you plan on doing next, worry gnawing deep inside him for Sun who might lose a friend. He's been alone for so long, he'd hate to see his brother become depressed over losing you.
"In any case! I'll let them know it's done and hopefully they offer me a job? I'm going to ask if I could give all of you guys a strong firewall so nothing like this happens again and if they decline, which, I wouldn't be surprised if they did, then I'll just do it anyways."
Moon is surprised you'd go behind Fazbear's back to give them a firewall without permission. He wonders why you're even still here. You look exhausted and there are bruises around your neck and...oh, those are his finger prints around your neck.
Why on earth are you hoping they'd offer you a job? Why would you want to stay here after everything he did to you? You start throwing your stuff into your sack as he completes picking up the cans in his arms. He stands and glances around. He doesn't have anywhere to put these. He narrows his eyes in annoyance.
You giggle at him and throw your bag over your shoulder. "I'm going to head home. Oscar is probably worried and...I'm going to sleep for the next couple days." Moon nods. He agrees wholeheartedly. If he weren't still processing his existence from being brought back he'd be tucking you in.
Maybe. He's not sure if you'd appreciate being touched by him right now. "Good," is all he says, internally glaring down at the offending cans. So many drinks you consumed, he doesn't like it. These things keep humans up.
"Here," you smile, opening your bag up wide, "drop em' in here and I'll take care of them on my way out." Moon looks down from the sack to his full arms and finally rids himself of them, wiping is hands after. You snap it back shut and head to the door. "Well, goodnight Moon. It was nice to finally meet you." You give him a tired smile. "Tell Sun I'll see him later."
The jester only nods in reply and watches you close the door behind you. He then lets out a long, drawn out, tired sigh. Now that you're gone, he can put his thoughts together. How long was he gone? How much damage did he cause? What happened to the bodies of those technicians? The ones he...
The virus enjoyed making him watch when it puppet-ed his body but most of the time...most of the time it was him. It was him who carried out those heinous acts. He was under the influence, yes, but it was still him who did those things.
The anger, the hatred, and the pain he felt was all him, regardless if they were caused by the virus. He had no control over his emotions, his actions, everything threw him into a wild craze he couldn't help.
And the pain. The pain wasn't anything he'd ever wish on a fellow animatronic. It was as if something was constantly picking at his wires, pulling at his insides, tearing his processes to shreds and replacing them with horrible things.
Moon takes a seat against the wall and fully re-opens his and Sun's connection.
"Moon?"

Subject: Job Completed
Dear Fazbear Ent.,
In regards to the job you have hired me to do, I have finished it before the deadline you gave me and I am fully confident in Moon's systems being completely clear and believe he is ready to be reintroduced to the Daycare.
In addition to purging the 'bug', I am offering to integrate a strong firewall into any and all animatronics within the building as a safety measure and precaution to any possible future attacks or bugs. I would like to do this free of charge for the company.
Please let me know your decision.~
You sigh, pressing the send button and tossing your laptop to the side of your bed. After multiple drafts, you finally felt comfortable with sending the email after thinking about it all night. You weren't exactly practiced in the fine arts of 'professional' emails since you only ever did under- the- table jobs that didn't exactly have an image to uphold.
Ah well, it's done and sent and there's nothing more to do until they reply. You roll over in bed and reach out to rub Oscar's short haired back. You thought for sure you'd crash once you got home, but your mind has been wired with all sorts of thoughts.
Is the virus really gone?
What if it comes back and someone gets hurt again?
What if Moon has other issues in his systems?
What if Sun does?
You groan and push a pillow over your eyes. You shouldn't be dwelling on it. Why are you doubting yourself now? You've never done so before.
It has to be because, this time, these are sentient beings and not just mindless robots.
You can't help but wonder what Moon went through. He was so despondent and distant when meeting him. You're glad he was confident it was gone, though, since he could go through all of his processes and such as thoroughly as you could.
You groan and rub your eyes, unable to close them and relax. You sit up and throw on a robe as soon as the chill air hits your bare legs and arms. The warmth of your blankets tempt you back in but you're so awake you'd rather do something else.
You enter the living room and find your project for Oscar. Perfect. Something to do until you can finally sleep. You sit and tinker on it for at least a couple hours before your eyes begin to droop on their own.
You take a sip of your nearby warm milk and glance at the TV off to the side. A random, late night soap-opera plays on low volume. You blink slowly while staring at it. It begins flickering with static, like an old-school box TV would do with a weak signal.
You furrow your brows, eyes not leaving the screen. The static becomes more aggressive but you notice the volume isn't fizzing out. The audio of the characters in the show are as clear as it's been. You turn the volume up and step over to it.
Weird, you've never seen a TV do something like this. It's either all of it goes on the fritz, or none of it. You smack the back of it a couple times and it suddenly goes back to normal. "Huh..." you murmur.
You turn and walk back to the table, ready to start putting things away for the night and finally going to sleep. But, as soon as you turn your back, the static starts up again. You whirl around, more frustrated than confused now. Though, curiously, it looks a little different this time.
You tilt your head at it as something becomes clear within the garbled mess. Something flashes and the whole TV turns off in the blink of an eye. You flinch, what just happened? You couldn't see what flashed before it went dark. You toss the remote onto the couch.
"Stupid TV," you yawn, opting to leave your project and tools strewn out and just go to bed instead.
You curl up in bed and your eyes droop closed, finally relinquishing you to slumber.

We will also be sending you a check after said inspection.
Thanks for working for Freddy Fazbear's and we hope to see you again!
~Management
Your lips curl in disdain at the email you've gotten in reply. You did the job and yet they still need someone to inspect Moon in order to be paid? You roll your eyes, whatever. You're not too worried, though, you know you did a fantastic job.
Though, something niggles at the back of your mind with doubt.
Welp, with three days under your belt, you can take a break and maybe refine that firewall a little bit. Maybe go out to eat for a job well done, watch some movies, hang out with Oscar. You can't help but feel excited at the prospect of a new, steady paying job, though.
You'll finally have a schedule for yourself. Plus, you're happy to see your friend again.
Thrilled with the prospects of a new beginning, you reply to the email, accepting the job.
