Yup, it did feel like getting dumped into hell.

I felt my body go numb, then a tiny bit of air or something on my skin.

I shut my eyes, scared out of my wits.

The next second, I was floating. Or at least felt like that.

I opened my eyes slowly, like opening in the morning, then was horrified.

What I saw was strange-I saw complete blackness, like space, except it wasn't space since I was breathing somehow and there were no stars or the moon or anything.

But some codes.

White small letters and rows of endless coding lit up the space from below, and I was about to read and check it out when I got numb again, and had to shut my eyes.

As I went through all this, I knew that the conditions we had vowed to were had been worth it-well, that is, if we landed or landed in the same place or something. It would be impossible if Jake got into a whole different dimension or planet or something, right?

The transport was endless. The movement of my body and the slight wind made me unable to open my eyes willingly...

Then I fell.

Not to hell, though. That was clear.

My back hit the wood and I felt extreme pain, and the other bones rattle in their sockets and places. I lurched to my side and rubbed my spine, then opened my eyes from the pain-the first thing I saw was the wood.

Wood.

The floor.

"Holy molly," I muttered the phrase that only my dad had used for some while when I was 4.

I scrambled up to my weak, shivering legs, and took a look around. I expected Jake to be staring at me, dumbfounded, then come and hug me, etc.

But the thing was, he wasn't there.

Or I wasn't there.

This wasn't the shack.

Well, not the shack I knew, at least.

I saw bricks, cement and concrete this time. No windows, though.

"Jake? Anyone?" I said, voice cracking as I tried to shout. No response. I whirled to the center of the foreign room and looked frantically around to find the window I must have fallen through. But nothing.

I stood there, un-firmly, waiting for Jake to drop out of something, at least. "Come on," I whispered urgently, hands fidgeting. I found my voice strange again, so cleared my throat-maybe the passage had been very destructive to me, forcing my body to be very nervous. But my voice stayed rough.

Suddenly, I realized something.

Something absurd, but not lame.

I pulled out my phone and tapped on the camera. Then slid the screen over with my finger to see my reflection and-

Froze.

It was me in there, but not me. Believe that?

'I' had a slimmer face and a rigid jawline, and found big, fierce eyes staring back. Ruffled, brown hair matted to my neck and forehead with sweat... And maybe a trace nod beard...

"Christ on a stick!" I yelped, freaking completely out.

The day had been cursed-for sure.

I was pacing and pacing, thinking of what had just happened, where was Jake, where was I, and what was gonna happen to me. Maybe it had been a teleporter, but what of my face? I had seemed to have aged years. Clearly over the legal age. Wait-also a time machine? Also, had Jake fallen in a different world as I had expelled as insane just before as I shot out to this place?

This was insane.

I pulled out my phone again and checked my reflection on the glass screen. I opened it to try calling Jake. Or dad.

Nobody received it, and you know what? When I dialed dad, the horrid voice came over the phone-"Such number doesn't currently exist,"

I nearly threw down the phone.

I checked the time, then was ready to gag.

It was 9:23, and the year?

2042.

Not 2035. The date was the same, though.

That made my look reasonable-I was 25 now.

Just then, I heard shaking, as if some giant storm was approaching the shack. I whipped around to see the window materialize, and simultaneously shaking.

I knew what to expect, and just faced it.

One second ago, there was only me in the room.

The next, there was also Jake.

I practically saw him fly through the air before hitting the ground hard. He was actually thrown onto his front-maybe the butt-fall was better. He gasped, then groaned. But quickly, he rolled to the side and tried to get up. I ran to him and he plopped him up. Even before I was pulling me up, he looked up and gave me a tired look. He still had short hair, but also a beard.

"Shit, you look... strange. Adult in fact, Rick," He got up with my help, then pulled me into his bear hug which forced air out of my lungs. He was still taller, but I had caught up a lot-only half a foot apart. He noticed this straight away. "Err, Jacob, you have to look at the mirror," I said, sorry for him, then shoved my camera screen into his confused face.

It was beyond imagination.

"What? Huh?" It took minutes. "Hmm? No way!" His eyes were the biggest I've ever seen of a person. Luckily he didn't jump up and down like dad when he got a burn while cooking. He only flinched and cursed when I showed him the exact time and date.

He now looked at my face with less mocking and fun, then stared at me real seriously again. "I knew something was strange," He said. "You actually yelped as you got suck, you know that? You didn't look pleased. And I had to freak out. The shack was so eery and quiet after you were gone. But I really wanted to follow you right away, believe me," He then pushed his hand into his pocket. "I wanted to be prepared, so I raced to my house and grabbed all my allowance and  phone batteries," He pulled out his wallet, stuffed, which was rare, and a few batteries. "Mom was right-saving is good," He grinned, a bit sadly again. "I considered sneaking a memo to your dad, but then figured out that I had nothing to tell him but that his son had been wiped out of the world," "Apparently, only out of our original world," I added. "We're still alive, so I guess you're right," Jake muttered. Suddenly, he pulled out his own phone and obviously trying to ignore his looks, looked at the time again, himself. "Jesus," He said. "Now what?" I said. Jake didn't reply, and his fingers slid quickly to tap onto stuff on his screen. His screen showed the GPS.

"No, no. This place is San Francisco. It had been 7:10 as I left my house and ran here. It must have only taken a few seconds to get here. Yup, we're in a different city and -"He waved his hands dramatically.

"In the future. Or back to the future, if you know what I'm referring to,"
