Chapter Two
My school came into view and I was not surprised to see that none of the students were out. In the December weather, the teachers wouldn't let students stay out in the cold.
I hurried up the stairs that led to the main doors and entered the school. Instinctively, I traced my path to the library.
"Good morning, Lia," a girl with brown hair greeted me. "Good morning to you too Kou," I replied. Kou was the librarian's assistant. I wouldn't consider her as my friend, but when I needed someone to talk to, Kou was always there. Her long brown hair and amber eyes were beautiful. Remembering Meiko's words, I wondered if Kou had a special someone.
The girl smiled and went back to organizing some stray books back onto the shelf.
I wandered through the bookshelves looking for something new. I finally found a book called 'The Gang Leader'. I sighed at the thought of a cheesy "Bad boy loves good gir." Not all women are goody two shoes.
I picked up the book anyways and went to sit at my table.
I emerged from the isles filled with books, shocked to see an older looking boy sitting at my table in the exact same chair I usually sat at. I stood behind the boy and was about to walk away when suddenly, he stood up and turned to face me. "I'm sorry. Is this seat taken?" He said with a slight smirk, quickly melting into an almost apologetic smile.
I stared at the boy, speechless. He wore a black beanie and his hair was ruffled. Depsite his tall figure, I was able to catch a glint in his bright green eyes. I soon noticed that I was staring and snatched my gaze away from him, looking at the floor.
"Um... well, yes," I fumbled for words. "You don't have to move though. I'm so inconsiderate, aren't I?" I gave him an awkward laugh. The boy then gave another lopsided smile as he exited anyway.
I stood there, trying to process the moment. Should I have been mad that he embarrassed me like that? Or forgotten about it because he left me alone?
Wait.
Was that just me or did he smirk?
I shook my head, and smiled for no one to see.

The bell rang, indicating for students to head to the cafeteria for break period. I went to the library instead, which was usually empty at break period.
Perfect for me.
I sat at my table, relieved to find it unoccupied. I opened my book and read a few pages before being inturrupted by a "Hi!"
I looked up from my book to see a girl with pigtails sitting beside me. The girl wore a purple dress and a black hoodie. Without a reply, the girl went on, "My name's Chihiro," then held out her hand. "Lia," I shook her hand, causing Chihiro to smile. She opened her mouth to continue but was inturrupted by the bell. Chihiro frowned for a heartbeat, then waved to me before walking to her next class.
I was left all alone in the quiet library.
How strange.
People are talking to me.
I wondered to myself what I've done differently, what compelled others to interact with me. I stumble out of the library, lost in thought, and to my next class.

I left the school with a shiver and a sigh. The sun had just started to sink and a light snow had begun to fall. I decide to take the long way home anyways.
After walking for a short while, I hear small voices coming from the opposite side of the street. I lift my gaze from the sidewalk to see that the two blonde kids from that morning were walking in the same direction as me. The two kids seemed to be looking over their shoulders every five seconds.
"Are you guys okay?" I called. The girl jumped, then the boy sighed and said, "Yeah." I had the feeling that he was lying so I crossed the street and walked beside them.
"Why are you walking with us?" The girl asked. "I've seen you a few times in our apartment complex," I explain. It was a lie that I'd seen them multiple times, but they didn't have to know that. "My name is Lia," I said.
"Cool. My name is Len. That's my sister Rin," the blonde boy replied. I nodded and couldn't help but ask, "So, are you two twins or something?"
"Yeah, we get that a lot. I'm the older twin," Rin answered proudly. "I'm the biggest!" Len counters.
"Yeah, the biggest head," Rin said. I bursted out laughing at her comeback, then she did too. Len chuckled and muttered, "Okay fine. I don't even know why I thought that would help me."

I opened the gates to the apartment complex and took the twins to our apartment building. "Oh, it's you," the tall blonde woman said when she opened the door. "My name is Lily Kagamine."
"Lia," I said. "Thanks for walking them home. I want them to get used to walking but they've been very nervous about it," Lily explained. "Mom!" Rin whined as she hit Lily on the arm.
I giggled a bit, then waved and said, "Bye," to Rin and Len.
