Okay so this is Sonya. Before the apocalypse she traveled a lot to foreign countries and would live there to learn about the people, their language, and culture. So she's bilingual and can speak several different languages and also knows ASL.

This is Lance. He is a navy vet. He was sent home after he was involved with a landmine with his team and has been doing rehab and therapy. He was pretty much 100% cleared when the apocalypse happened.

Where they were when it happened, Sonya had just gotten home from a trip and was at the airport and Lance was in a grocery store.
