Chapter Two
Tugging at the sleeves of her white fitted long sleeve uniform, she sat in discomfort as the roll of students began to fill the classroom.
Jennie didn't like the idea of transferring to her new school in the middle of March.
Everyone had established cliques.
As much as possible, she wanted to be like everyone else. Becoming a new transfer student at the second semester of her Junior year, she stood out.
Like a bright yellow raincoat in the middle of a grey, cloudy thunderstorm.
As the second toll of the tardy bell rang, a particularly beautiful, tall, lanky creature paused at the doorway, taking the breath away from the cat-eyed beauty.
Leaning against the frame, he wrapped his large hands around a smaller female whom appeared, quite frankly, out of nowhere. He shut his eyes and puckered his lips for a kiss with the petite girl.
Embarrassed, she looked away, forcing herself to study the details of the yellow school busses closing their doors and alas, the last student—golden brown haired boy hurriedly ran out, only to trip over his long legs—moving too fast, too uncoordinated. Hurling over his own limbs, the textbooks he cradled against his chest flew, sliding across the pavement.
Letting out an uncontrollable muffled gurgle, a sorry excuse for a laugh—the boy from the doorway slithered beside her, causing her attention to shift towards his dark eyes, dark haired mysterious locks.
He smiled at her, pink lips glossed over with moistness, and for the life of her, she was swept off her feet.
"You're new around here." His voice was smooth, and she could somehow tell he was a singer.
Before she could utter incoherent syllables, at the loss of his incomprehensible beauty, the teacher cleared his throat. "Now, to address the elephant in the room, class, please alert your attention towards the back corner of the room, Miss Kim, please stand," immediately bowing, her slanted eyes darted quickly around the room to scan her classmates faces.
As she let her chocolate brown hair fall, her eyes widened at the realization of the familiar golden brown haired boy sneakily finding his way to his seat at the front. Smiling to herself, she stood upright to look at him again, watching him fix his unruly, just washed, about seventy percent dry hair into place.
Unable to keep her gummy smile away, the tall, dark, and handsome tapped his mechanical pencil on her desk. Surprised, she jolted, her spine straightening as she placed a gentle hand to her chest. "Geez, you scared me."
Looking to him, her eyes melted right into his soul, leaving him a smiling, rendering mess. "What's your name?"
She smirked. "You tell me yours first, but I've figured you out already."
Amused, he leaned back into his seat, letting his arm rest at the back of her chair. His fingers creeping it's way to softly play with her long hair.
"And what's the thing you've figured out about me?" His eyebrows lifted, motioning her to elaborate.
Keeping her eyes glued to the white board as their first period English literature teacher wrote their assignment, she raised her chin ever so slightly. "You're the stereotypical attractive boy in school, with the prettiest girlfriend to match." She looked at his appearance from head to toe. "And with your height, you're probably on the basketball team or something."
He smiled, "So you think I'm attractive?"
She scoffed. "Don't get all big headed. I saw you smooching your girlfriend at the door."
"Ahhhhh." He removed his hand from her chair. "So you're a stalker too." He nodded his head in silence. "Too bad you got me all wrong. I simply thought you were pretty cute."
Their teacher stopped writing to turn around and look at the culprits responsible for the whispering in the back—only to see Jennie diligently paying attention, while mystery man was all body language towards the transferee.
"If you don't stop your flirting with the new student, mister Kim Jongin, I'll phone the detention room your attendance this afternoon."
