Chapter Ten
The week fell into their perfect, puzzle pieces.
Jennie found herself spending her time with Kai, watching his basketball practice after class, listening to him rehearse his lines, looking for each other during breaks—it was all too cliché, but she didn't mind.
He was nice to her, turning out to be a completely different than who she thought he was.
Despite the replacement of Taehyung, she couldn't forget the magnetic attraction that kept pulling her towards him.
There'll be times when she would catch him looking at her, and he wouldn't even look away until Jisoo would wring his arm into hers.
She honestly didn't like her. With the idea that Kai implanted in her mind that she was too clingy, made her feel bad for Taehyung and her reliance on him.
Too lost in thought, Jennie had been walking aimlessly in the hallway after her trip to the bathroom.
Getting pulled underneath the stairs, her mouth had been covered before she could let out a yelp.
Holding her body against his, he allowed his arms to linger on her tiny waist a few seconds more.
Peeling his large hand off her mouth, he shushed her before she could exclaim dramatically.
"Ruby Jane. Shh, it's just me."
Turning around to face him, her face softened. "Taehyung."
"I'm sorry." He looked at her face, studying them as if he would forget how she looked. "Can I hug you?" Biting his lip, he anticipated rejection, but to his surprise, Jennie's arms wound them into his body, her face snuggling into his neck.
He reciprocated, drinking in her scent, loving her warmth, her body melting into his so effortlessly.
"I'm sorry too." She breathed into his neck. She loved the way he smelled. Like warm chocolate and marshmallows.
He chuckled into her neck, sending shivers down her spine. "I don't want to let go."
"Me too." Afraid to let go, she didn't want to risk letting go of him before he did.
"We need to meet up for Hamlet." He spoke into her hair, still holding her tiny body against his.
"Yeah, but, would she even let you out of her grasp, even for a minute?"
Sighing deeply, he rubbed circles at her back. "Jisoo's only using me to get back at Kai. I'm just wrapped in this mess. I don't even know why you're hanging out with the guy." He pulls her closer, backing them up against the wall. "I mean, don't get me wrong, he's been my friend for forever, but he's an actual scumbag towards girls."
Taehyung couldn't understand how someone as sweet as Jennie could hang around someone with such a shitty personality.
She hugged him a little tighter. "You've left me to fend for myself."
He pulled away slightly to study her face. "Do you think you could get away from Kai after school from now on? Does he have to drop you home every day?"
She pouted. "What would I say?"
"Say you have some thing to do with your dad?" Taehyung was desperate to get her alone. It seemed that Kai and Jisoo couldn't leave them alone.
"Okay. I got it." She giggled, excited to spend time with Taehyung again.
"Do you want to wait for me at the locker rooms again? Until everyone leaves of course. Kai wouldn't even know. Just give him the slip."
