There was a knock on the closed door to the living room and Logan pressed the mute button, glad that his students were doing independent work right now and didn't seem to be needing his help.
"Can I come in? Or are thirty teenagers gonna be staring at me." His husband said, opening the door slightly and sticking his head through the gap.
"You can come in, but I've got my camera on, so only the ones not doing the work they're supposed to do will stare." Logan said, turning around slightly to look over at his husband who was walking into the room.
"Great, so all of them?" Virgil teased, Logan knowing very well that Virgil found what he was teaching pretty boring. And yet Virgil would always happily listen to him ramble or when he needed help to plan a class.
"No worries, I'm sure they're on youtube or tiktok or playing some online game rather than looking at either of us." Logan reassured. Virgil carried a plate and a glass of juice over to the desk Logan was sitting by, setting the juice and the plate with a toast with crofters on down by Logan's laptop.
"I know you didn't have any breakfast except for coffee." Virgil said, resting his hand on Logan's shoulder and giving him a small squeeze.
"Anyway, gonna do some laundry. Have fun teaching." He said, disappearing out of the room and closing the door again. Logan's stomach rumbled at the sight of the toast and he took a bite, finishing it in mere moments. He hadn't even realized he was hungry.
"Mr Sanders, I don't understand problem fifty seven." A student said after a long while of silence, and Logan unmuted and helped his student through the problem. Then his first class of the day was over and he brought the plate and the now empty glass to the kitchen, putting them in the dishwasher.
Virgil was nowhere to be seen, which meant he was probably either in their bedroom or in his office, filming a new video for his youtube channel. (His husband was a pretty popular youtuber, but since he never showed his face thankfully he never got recognized, which they were both equally relieved about.)
Logan made himself another cup of coffee, not having time for much else during the five minute break between the classes he was teaching. Luckily it was yet another math class, which meant he did not have to prepare anything as his classes were currently struggling through their math textbooks.
With two minutes to go he started the class, greeting his new students and telling them what they were going to be working on. They didn't need much help (or simply weren't working at all), and neither did any of the students in his other two classes he held before it was time for lunch break.
They had some leftovers, sitting by the tiny table on their balcony to get some fresh air and a little bit of sunshine before the autumn weather decided to give them constant rain until spring.
Then Logan still had forty minutes left until the next class he was going to teach and he joined Virgil who was sprawled out on the couch and the two of them continued watching the documentary they had been too tired to finish watching last evening.
He spent the entire forty minutes lying on the couch with Virgil, who had an arm around him and was half paying attention to the documentary and half looking at discord on his phone. Then he, sadly, did have to get up.
He only had two more classes to teach before it was finally weekend and he could properly spend time with his husband, who stayed on the couch while Logan taught a biology class and then a chemistry class.
The chemistry class was uneventful as it, too, was practically only Logan watching over the students as they worked by themselves. At least Virgil was there to make things interesting as Logan was fairly sure his husband had been staring at him for at least a minute.
He looked over towards the couch, finding Virgil still lying on his stomach and observing him. Logan glanced over to his screen, seeing his students busy with their chemistry assignment and not looking like they needed any help, and he wheeled his chair away from the desk.
"Hello, love. What is it?" He wondered, rolling his chair over towards the armrest of their couch.
"Hi, you're boring." Virgil said, reaching his hands out for Logan who rolled his eyes but reached out and took his husband's hands.
"I'm working." Logan said, pointing out the very obvious.
"Yeah, but I miss you." Virgil said and pouted.
"We are literally in the same room. We haven't been outside for three weeks. We're constantly together." Logan pointed out.
"So? Pay attention to me." Virgil said and Logan huffed out a laugh.
"If you give me just fifteen minutes then I will be done for the day and available to give you any attention you might crave." Logan said, definitely looking forward to, probably, cuddling with his husband on the couch.
"Perfect, 'cause I have an idea." Virgil said, letting go of Logan's hands.
"And what would that be?" Logan wondered, definitely interested in whatever Virgil had been planning. (Except if he was going to make Logan try one of his horror games again, the games Virgil played were horrible.)
"We could make pizza for dinner. And watch the next season of The Good Place. A lockdown date, kind of. Like, I know that that's our average Friday night, but, you know, still. We can light some candles or something." Virgil said, propping his chin up in the palms of his hands and giving Logan a playful wink.
He rolled his eyes and smiled at his husband, silently wondering how his actions could still make a flutter make itself known in his chest.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea." He said.
"Great, it's a date, starshine." Virgil said, using his favorite pet name for him, a nickname that had stuck with them ever since their first stargazing date so many years ago.
"I miss our stargazing dates." Logan said with a little sigh. Quarantine really was not that fun. Going outside now and then was something he missed, as he was now missing out on stargazing dates, walks, and other things. And he missed seeing his students. Although both he and Virgil were appreciating how much time the two of them got to spend together now since Logan was teaching from home.
He would certainly miss that part of the quarantine.
"Mhm, me too. Guess I'll have to make do with the stars in your eyes." Virgil said with a wide grin that told Logan that Virgil knew exactly how awful that line was.
"Terrible, absolutely disgusting, get out of here." Logan said and Virgil got up from the couch, laughing and stealing Logan's half full coffee cup before escaping towards the kitchen.
"No more coffee for you, you've had too many cups already today." He said.
"Are you sure that that doesn't count as domestic abuse?" Logan called after him, smiling when Virgil poked his head into the living room again only to blow him a kiss and then stick his tongue out at him.
His husband came back into the room just a moment later though, putting a glass of water where his coffee cup had been before throwing himself onto the couch again and busying himself with whatever it was he was looking at on his phone. Logan decided to be a good husband and a responsible adult who knew how to do the whole self care thing and reached for the glass.
He drank the water, enjoying Virgil's encouraging smile and especially the kiss he left to the back of his free hand.
"Alright, I have to end class now." Logan said, wheeling his chair back to the desk and reaching for the mouse to unmute himself to talk to his students, only to realize he already was, which meant his students had heard their entire conversation, which was definitely not the end of the world, but Logan preferred to keep his private life, well, private.
He sighed, probably making a somewhat pained expression, before deciding to just pretend like nothing had happened and end class. Before he had the time to wish the teens a nice weekend one of them unmuted, though.
"Have fun on your date!" The student called, then immediately disconnected. A few other students said similar things, but within fifteen seconds that had all disconnected, except for one student that Logan was pretty sure was asleep.
"Did you seriously forget to mute yourself?" Virgil asked as Logan had closed his zoom app, sounding as if he was on the verge of laughing.
"Shut up."
Which of course had Virgil snorting into a couch cushion while Logan groaned and got up from his chair, deciding to try to drown his embarrassment in the emergency jar of crofters that he had hidden in the back of the fridge.
