Human au, them be soft boys

For a rare change Virgil was the first one to wake up. At first he was a little disappointed to have woken up before he had to leave bed, but then as he groggily rolled over to fling an arm around his fiancé and fall back asleep he remembered that Logan was not in fact his fiancé anymore, but his husband.

That realization made Virgil so excited that he became considerably more awake, as if someone had thrown a glass of cold water at him, except in a good way. If that made sense.

Logan, his husband (wow, Virgil really liked the sound of that), was still asleep. Virgil wasn't going to wake him, no matter how much he wanted Logan to be awake, because yesterday had been a long and eventful day and they'd both been exhausted once they'd finally fallen asleep.

Yesterday had definitely been eventful since, well, they had gotten married.

Holy shit, they were married. Married. It was still surreal to Virgil. After four years of being boyfriends (one of those years being spent as fiancés) they were finally married.

Virgil brushed his fringe out of his eyes, moving closer to Logan who was lying sprawled out on his back on their bed, the covers having half slid off of him. Virgil kissed his husbands cheek, pulling the covers up over him. He then pushed himself up a bit and looked over Logan and at the alarm clock that he had on his nightstand.

A few minutes past ten in the morning it read, and Virgil sank back into the mattress, an arm over Logan's chest. There was absolutely no reason for him to leave bed for at least a few hours. This was going to be their first full day as husbands and Virgil was definitely going to start it with cuddles.

Daylight was pouring into the room from a gap in the curtains, not that the curtains kept enough light out for the room to be dark. He watched Logan's chest slowly rise and fall with every breath.

Drowsiness slowly crept back upon him and he tried fighting it, not wanting to fall back asleep. With eyes half closed he spent a few minutes relishing in the warmth and comfort of skin on skin contact, and thinking about how beautiful Logan was.

"What are you staring at?" Logan's voice interrupted his thoughts, making Virgil aware that he was finally awake.

"My husband." He said with a smile that slowly widened. "And I think I'm allowed to stare at my husband however much I want."

"Hm," Logan said, as if he was thinking it over, "yes, I suppose I'll allow that."

He rolled over onto his side to face Virgil, a hand cupping his cheek. There was a soft half smile on Logan's lips and he leaned in to gently kiss Vigil, fingertips trailing along his jaw. Virgil sighed into the kiss, arm around Logan tightening to hold him closer. They parted slowly and Virgil met Logan's eyes that were shining with emotion.

"Good morning." Logan said with a smile. Virgil put his hand over his face, feigning annoyance.

"Stop being cute." He said, seeing between his fingers how Logan grinned. He pushed Virgil's hand away, taking it in his and intertwining their fingers. What a sap.

"What time is it?" Logan asked, clearly ignoring what Virgil had said because he was still being just as cute.

"Like twenty minutes past ten." Virgil guessed, not bothering to look over Logan's shoulder and at the clock. Vigil knew Logan quite well by now and he guessed he would be attempting to leave bed soon, which was not at all what Virgil wanted right now.

He sat up, throwing a leg over Logan and straddling him with a lazy, victorious smile which he hoped Logan knew meant 'you aren't going anywhere'. Logan raised an eyebrow, placing his hands on Virgil's thighs. He leaned down and kissed Logan, carefully, a mere brush of lips, bracing his hands on Logan's chest.

"What do you want for breakfast?" Logan asked but Virgil frowned and only lied down right there on top of him, ignoring Logan's complaints (honestly, he didn't sound very bothered).

"Verge, maybe we should get up?" Logan said, most likely thinking of making himself a big cup of coffee.

"Or I'll just go back to sleep riiight here." Virgil said, burying his face in the crook of Logan's neck, pressing a kiss to his skin. He could both hear and feel Logan sigh, but clearly he didn't have any actual issues with it as he wrapped his arms around Virgil.

Logan rolled over onto his side but Virgil clung onto him and didn't let go, not until Logan gently pushed him back a bit. He reached over Virgil's shoulder for his glasses on his nightstand, putting them on, blinking a little before focusing his eyes on Virgil.

"Will we be getting up anytime soon?" Logan asked, reaching out and taking Virgil's hand again, kissing the back of it. He saw Logan study the rings on his finger with a happy look in his eyes.

"No. You married me, now I demand cuddles. This is what you have to put up with now." Logan scoffed at that, shaking his head fondly.

"This has happened about once or more a week since when we started sharing a bed years ago, it's hardly something I have to put up with only now." Logan reminded him.

"...Well this is special cuddles. Married cuddles." Virgil argued with a grin. He closed his eyes, relaxing and focusing on how his husband's fingers gently ran over the back of his hand, touching his two rings. He opened his eyes a smidge, looking at Logan through his eyelashes and catching his little smile.

"I suppose we could stay in bed a little longer." Logan said, and Virgil knew he'd won.
