THIRTEEN

"This is it."

"We're here already?" Hinata rubbed her eyes and looked out the window at the large apartment building.

"You're such a baby. You slept on the way here." Hidan snickered.

"Shut up." Hinata blushed as she got out and started walking towards the front, where they spotted the rest of their friend group.

"Hidan, about time you got here. Hm. What took you so long?" Deidara crossed his arms.

"You wouldn't believe the traffic." Hidan shrugged.

"Whatever." Konan sighed, "let's just go."

They all nodded as they walked in, but Hinata stopped, "hey, uh, Hidan, I'll catch up with you in a few. I left something in the car."

"Fine. Whatever." Hidan shrugged and followed everyone else inside.

Hinata sighed in relief as she headed back to the car to grab her purse that she had left on the floor of the passenger side. She then shut the door and headed back towards the building.

"Hinata."

She stopped suddenly, then turned, surprised to see who was standing there, "Sasuke? What are you doing here?"

"Here for Kiba's party. What are you doing here? Couldn't be here for the same party. I wouldn't imagine your brother letting you go alone."

"Oh, uh." Hinata rubbed her elbow uncomfortably, "I'm here with Hidan."

"Hidan, huh?" Sasuke clicked his tongue, then gave her a serious look, "he left you?"

"No, he went in already." Hinata crossed her arms, "why?"

Sasuke watched her carefully, then told her straightforwardly, "I was sent to keep an eye on you."

"What? By who?!"

"Does it matter?" Sasuke rose an eyebrow, then sighed, "look, I'll just be hanging out on my own, you go do whatever. I won't be right behind you all night."

"Really?"

"Yes. Now go." Sasuke gestured to the door.

Hinata gave him a weird look, then headed in.

The first thing that met Hinata at the door was the pounding music and the stench of alcohol.

"Babe!" Hidan collapsed on Hinata's shoulder, "I just got here and I'm already wasted..."

"Hidan..." Hinata muttered as she smelled the alcohol in his breath. She glanced back at Sasuke, who had already turned pale at the sight of the party.

"Sasuke? Is that you?!"

Sasuke peeked over Hinata's head and spotted a head of pink hair, "Sakura?"

"Wow, I can't believe you actually came." Sakura looked him up and down, "did Naruto drag you all the way out here? Where's he?"

"He's not coming, remember?" Sasuke looked around, then sighed with relief when he saw the cup in her hand was filled with soda and not alcohol. He also recognized from her state and her breath that she hadn't been drinking. At least not yet, anyway, "listen, I only came because he convinced me to come and keep an eye on Hinata."

"Huh... Only because Hidan's here too, right?"

"Yeah. We just don't trust the guy." Sasuke shrugged.

Sakura nodded in agreement, "alright. But how are you going to manage? You never really were a party-goer."

"Hn. If you need me, I'll be in that corner over there." Sasuke pulled out his phone, ready to distract himself with Instagram and Netflix for the next couple of hours.

The party went on for an hour before Hinata was standing with her very drunk friends.

"Hinata, you should go find Hidan..." Konan giggled.

"Should I?" Hinata asked, feeling a little dizzy, herself.

"Yeah!" Konan nodded dazily, "just between you and me, I made out with Yahiko in the other room."

"Ooh." Hinata grabbed another cup, "that's hot."

"Hinata, don't get too drunk." Sasuke grabbed the cup from her hand and set it down on the table, "careful what you do."

"It's fine, Sasuke... Hic." Konan fell onto him, but he immediately shoved her off in disgust, "oh, sorry. You're right. You should go find Karin, shouldn't you? Go suck face."

"What?!" Sasuke exclaimed, "no!"

"Why so uptight, Sas-uke... Loosen up a bit." Hinata slurred as she grabbed the cup back, "I'm fine."

Sasuke stared at her in horror. He knew that this wasn't the Hinata he knew, "Hinata, you need to--"

"Sasuke!"

He turned at the squeal of his name, greatly dreading it, "Karin..."

"Let's get out of here!"

"Karin, go away, you're drunk." Sasuke held her out at a long arm's length, making sure she couldn't reach him.

"I knowwww..." Karin laughed loudly, "Sasuke, let's goooo!"

"No." Sasuke picked Karin up by the waist and dropped her on the couch, returning his attention back to Hinata, who had drifted further away from him, "Hina--"

"Sasuke!"

Sasuke turned around, "damn, what's going on here... You're drunk too? What the hell is Kiba doing to you guys..."

"It's fine, Sasuke...." His pink-haired friend blushed, "you should drink, too."

"Sakura, stop." He turned to look at Karin still collapsed on the couch, then at Hinata, still preoccupied with Konan, then looked back at Sakura. Biting his lip, he grabbed her wrist, "come on. You need to go home."

"What? But why? We're having a blast!"

"'We'?"

"Sasori is over there..." Sakura giggled, her face getting redder at the sound of his name.

"Tch." Sasuke gritted his teeth and held her wrist tighter, "you're going home."

"Ow, Sasuke..." Sakura pouted, "that hurts."

"Hn. Annoying." Sasuke muttered as he dragged her out the door.

"Sasuke?" Hinata looked around in confusion. Her conscience snapped suddenly, and as quick as she got drunk, she was sober, "S-Sasuke?"

"Hinata, there you are."

"Hidan?!" Hinata turned around suddenly.

"What're you looking for that Uchiha scum for?" Hidan smirked still somewhat drunk since he didn't remember he's the one who drove her to the party in the first place, "you want me to take you home? That bitch refused to even wait for you, that asshole."

"Uh, yeah, sure. Thanks." Hinata muttered as she turned around, looking for Sasuke one last time before following Hidan out.

The car-ride was silent the entire way until they parked and he swiftly walked her up to her doorstep. He looked down at her as she unlocked the door, a smirk slowly making its way onto Hidan's face, "Hinata, you looking so out of it."

"I feel terrible."

"Ah, that hangover getting to yo--"

"No." Hinata cut him off strictly, "I feel bad for Sasuke, and for Naruto, over all."

Hidan's smirk was gone, "why?"

"After all these weeks, I've completely denied them. Maybe even the past couple months. You know, I'm just now seeing where this all started..." Hinata looked at him, "it started with you, Hidan."

"Hinata, what are you talking about?!"

"I talked to Naruto. I broke past the lies you told me about him, and you were wrong. You've always been wrong. That was a lie, and you can't change how I see him now. I don't love you, just like you never loved me. You were using me for my body and for the pictures."

"The pictures. That reminds me." Hidan slammed his hand into the door behind her, cornering her, "I have them right here." He waved his phone in her face, "I can post these to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, everywhere. You know how popular I am. Would be a tragedy if these got out, huh?"

"Hidan. You wouldn't." Hinata's gaze was serious.

"Oh, but I won't do a thing. If only you'll let me have you."

"Never!" Hinata slapped her hand across his face, quickly opening the door and running in. Before she could shut the door, his shoe caught it.

"I don't tolerate violence, you bi--"

"Leave me alone, Hidan! Get out of my life!" Hinata yelled as she started to panic.

He shoved the door open, grabbing her and throwing her into her room, "you little shit. I will post these pictures..."

"No, you won't." Hinata felt tears stinging her eyes as the door was locked behind Hidan. Crap... I'm cornered.
