EPILOGUE
- Seven Years Later -
"Daddy, Daddy!"
"C'mon, kids. We need to hurry and go visit Mommy before it gets dark." Naruto smiled softly as he helped his five year-year-old children put their shoes on.
The two children, Boruto and Himawari Uzumaki, had grown up healthy and strong, despite their compromised extraction from Hinata after she passed. They drove down to the memorial and walked through the cemetery until they came to the gravestone. Naruto knelt down in front of it and ran his fingers over the words.
Hinata Hyuga - A Woman of Strength
"Hey, Mommy! You won't believe it! I met a new friend in school today." Boruto knelt down in the grass next to his father, "her name is Sarada."
"Yeah, Hinata." Naruto smiled, "Sasuke and Sakura came back to Konoha. After they left five years ago, you weren't here. But they left after they got married. Imagine Mr. Hatake and my surprise when they came back with a daughter."
"They're nice, Mommy." Himawari nodded with excitement, "Sarada's mommy and daddy. They say they knew you and liked you a lot."
Naruto tapped their shoulders, "give Mommy what you brought for her."
"Oh, we brought these for you!" Himawari held out a bunch of sunflowers, "we grew them ourselves!"
"Naruto! What a coincidence!"
Naruto turned around and grinned, "heh, we were just telling Hinata about you three coming back."
Sasuke, Sakura, and their daughter Sarada came up to them with a handful of flowers.
"Hey, Boruto! Himawari!" Sakura beamed, "visiting your mommy, I see?"
"I was just telling her about meeting you." Boruto giggled.
"Oh?" Sarada crossed her arms.
"Yeah! Uh-huh!"
"So, this is Hinata now, huh? She's looking good." Sasuke stood next to Naruto, "how are you doing?"
"I'm doing better." Naruto told him, "it was hard, but with these two, I've been so much better."
"That's good to hear." Sakura grabbed Naruto's hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze, "remember, if you need anything at all, come talk to us."
"We miss Hinata as much as you." Sasuke smiled sadly.
"Yeah, thanks." Naruto thanked them before turning back to the three children that started chasing each other around the memorial site, "with Boruto and Himawari... It's almost like I still have a piece of Hinata with me. Boruto has her eyes... They give me hope." Naruto smiled, then looked at Boruto and Sarada, "and seeing those two just reminds me of all of us together. Maybe one day, Boruto and Sarada will--"
"Yeah, not happening." Sasuke felt his brow twitch with annoyance, "she's my little princess, and she's staying that way for a very long time."
"Oh, Sasuke..." Sakura chuckled nervously, "he's so overprotective of all of us..."
"Haha, I'd probably be the same, though." Naruto laughed as he reached behind him, "look what I brought." He pulled out the frisbee.
"You still have that?"
"Of course. Boruto and Hima love playing with it." Naruto smiled as he turned to where the kids were, "hey, Boruto!" Then he tossed it to his son, who ran and caught the frisbee.
"Ooh! Ooh! Pass it to me!" Sarada jumped up and down. Boruto tossed it to Himawari, who then passed it to Sarada, and she threw it and hit Boruto in the back of the head.
"Hey! What was that for?!" Boruto yelled as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Pay attention, you idiot." Sarada laughed as she ran away from Boruto.
"You know..." Naruto smiled as the three of them watched the children, "this new generation of ours... They'll carry on Hinata's strength. They all have a little bit of her in them. Even Sarada."
Sasuke smiled and nodded, "yeah. I really hope so."
"Well, we have to go." Sakura sighed, "I have to stop by the hospital."
"Oh?" Naruto smirked, "you're pregnant again? Wow, Sasuke you wily--"
"You are such an idiot!" Sakura yelled, blushing a tad, "it's not like that! I work there, remember?!"
"Oh yeah..." Naruto scratched his neck, "okey dokey then. See ya."
Sasuke nodded as Sakura called Sarada over. Sarada waved goodbye to her friends and ran to grab Sasuke's hand as Sakura took Sarada's other hand. Naruto smiled and looked back down at Hinata's grave, "so there you go. The two are very happy together, especially with their daughter." He paused for a short while, "I will never forget the moment your heart stopped beating, but mine kept going... Why? Why?" He sighed then smiled again, "But... Every day, whenever I'm with Boruto and Hima, I feel like you're with us too, Hinata. We miss you every single day, I miss telling you I love you. It's different telling a lifeless stone, you know? Haha, okay. Well, we have to get going. The kids have school tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure Boruto hasn't done his homework yet. So we'll be off."
Naruto set his hand on the stone before getting up, "hey, Boruto! Hima! Let's go! You've got homework to do."
"Okay, Daddy!" Himawari ran over, Boruto following close behind.
"And don't forget the frisbee." Naruto added as Boruto grabbed the frisbee, then grabbed his dad's hand and Himawari holding the other.
"Can we go for some ice cream afterwards?" Himawari skipped happily.
"Alright then." Naruto smiled as they walked through the exit of the memorial site, "only if you can beat me."
"No way!" Boruto laughed as he and his sister took off, and soon, Naruto was laughing and running after them after taking one last glance towards Hinata's grave.
I love you, Hinata. Everything's gonna be alright, you know?
