11- Can't Change Her Mind

You can't change her mind
Even if you wanted to
You can always try
She'll see through to you, she'll see through you
If you think you're the only one she'll want in this world
Then you don't know nothin' 'bout girls

Imagine your best friend and your worst enemy
Begs you to stay and then wishes you'd leave
Like Marilyn Monroe she can be who you want her to be.

Girls- Miranda Lambert

"Oh, hey there, internet. It's me, Heather. And my awesome friend Jensen but you guys might know her as JustJensen. I'm with Jen in Florida right now and we just finished a collab music video that's going to be so awesome and exciting and it'll be posted eventually. Anyway, it's Sunday now so I've got to get back to New York but I still have a few hours left before I have to get to the airport so in honor of our weekend slumber party, we're going to do a slumber party video."

"This is going to be so weird," I say with a laugh from where I'm sitting beside Heather on my bed. We're wearing the tackiest pajamas that we could find- Heather in a grownup onesie and I'm wearing teddy bear flannel pajamas.

"Indeed it will," Heather agrees with me. "Anyway, the first thing you do at a sleepover is have a pillow fight."

We just sit still for a minute so that Heather can later edit the video so that it shows her hitting me with a pillow and then I say 'ow' and that's our pillow fight. We already filmed that part though, so she just has to edit it into the right area later.

"And after the aggressive pillow fight, we're going to do truth or dare and to help us out with this fun little game, I've downloaded an app on my phone that gives us truths and dares. So, Jensen will go first. Truth or dare?"

"Truth," I decide, wanting to play it safe because I have no idea how this app works or how weird the dares can be.

"Alrighty," She taps the truth button on the app on her phone and then reads, "If you were given the chance to become invisible for one day, what would you do with this ability?"

"I would pull the best pranks ever. Move things around, make things float. I'd have the best time messing with people," I decide with a laugh at just the idea of all of the pranks that I could pull on Elliot if I were invisible. "Now, truth or dare?"

"Dare," She pipes and then I press the dare button.

"Lick the bathroom floor," I say with a disgusted frown. "That's so gross, why would they make you do that? I'm going to pick another one."

"No!" Heather shouts, taking the camera off of the tripod. "I'm gonna do it. I'm not a cheater, and I'm not going to lose this game."

"I didn't know that it was a competition," I say with a laugh, following her out of my room and then toward the bathroom.

"Well, it is, and I'll win," She decides.

She screams and whines the whole time, but she really does lick my bathroom floor before we go back into my room and that's really disgusting so clearly, I made the right decision to choose truth. "I suppose that you're going to force me to do dare this time," I sigh once the camera is situated again.

"Right you are, Jensen," She nods before pushing the dare button and reading, "Put lipstick on another player but you are not allowed to use your hands."

"I hate this app," I decide but I still get up and grab a thing of bright red lipstick from my dresser. "Who created this thing?"

"I don't know, it's just the first one that I found. I didn't really vet the app before using it," She says with a shrug. "And don't you dare use your feet."

"I wasn't going to, but that would be very funny," I say with a laugh before biting down on the end of the lipstick tube and then I try my hardest to apply the lipstick to look somewhat normal on Heather but it ends up on her left nostril and halfway down her chin. It takes four minutes until I finish and by the end, we're both laughing so hard that the lipstick falls out of my mouth and onto my lap before it's Heather's turn again.

"I'll do truth this time," She tells me.

"Okay, the question is..." I push the truth button on her phone and read out the question, "What is the first physical feature you look for in someone you are attracted to?"

"Pretty eyes," She responds quickly. "But you're right, this app is lame. Which is why, I've brought a backup plan. A few weeks ago, I asked you guys to send in some dares and I've picked out some of my favorites."

"Oh god," I groan, knowing that Heather is going to choose the weirdest dares to do. Although she's a singer, she's more into the actual YouTube videos, making people laugh and all of that stuff. So she really goes out of her way to give her viewers a show. Unlike me, who is more focused on the music aspect of YouTube but I still do some videos, they just aren't super entertaining.

"Don't be such a worry wart," Heather rolls her eyes at me before she stands up and walks over to where she has a suitcase full of supplies for this video. She really prepared for this thing.

And so it starts.

"Swallow a spoonful of flour," Is the first one and that's just absolutely horrible because my mouth gets so dry and the flour turns to glue in my mouth. After swallowing it all and guzzling some water, Heather and I move on to the second dare.

"Prank call a fellow YouTuber," Heather reads from her phone. "And pretend to be a crazed fan."

"Who would go for that?" I wonder, trying to think through my plethora of YouTube associates. I haven't met most of them in real life because unlike most YouTubers, I'm unable to travel all of the time for collaborations or to go to conventions where all of the YouTubers go considering I'm still in school. Hopefully, after I graduate, that'll all change.

"I'm thinking Wells," She says, referring to one of the guys that lives in London and he's a pretty big YouTuber and insanely hilarious too. I've talked to him some by phone and IM and he's really cool to talk to but I know that Heather met him when he went on a trip to New York and she did a collab with him a few months ago.

"Okay, let's call Wells then," I agree, pulling my phone out and finding his number in my phone.

"Hello?" He answered the phone, which is really good because some people don't answer blocked calls but he obviously isn't one of those people.

"AHH!" I shriek into the phone. "Is this Wells Jefferies?"

"Um. Yeah? Who's this?"

"AHH!" I shriek again and Heather cups a hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing. "I'm such a huge fan, you literally have no idea. I-I can't believe that I'm talking to you right now."

"Oh. Thank you, love," He says on the other end with an awkward little laugh.

"I love you so much," I say, pretending to hyperventilate. "Oh my gosh."

"I love you too," Wells assures me in a polite voice but then he pauses before saying. "Wait, hang on a minute, you sound a lot like Jensen. Is this you?"

"Oh fuck," I mutter, laughing, and Heather bursts out laughing beside me. "You're such a wanker, Wells, how'd you know that it was me?"

"You aren't very good at prank calls," He informs me with a teasing laugh.

"Well, anyway, say hi to Heather," I pipe. He says hello to Heather and then we say goodbye to him after a failed prank call.

"That didn't go as expected. Next time, I'll take control of the prank call," Heather assures me before she scrolls down to the next prank in her phone. "Okay, the next dare is to cover ourselves in whipped cream. However, because that would leave us acne ridden and sticky, I've changed it to shaving cream."

"You're kidding," I tell Heather, not really thinking that she expects me to actually cover myself in shaving cream. I'd be spending weeks trying to get that stuff out of my ears.

"I'm not," She grins at me. "Come on, I even have the shaving cream. We'll just have to do it outside and since you Floridians have such nice weather, that won't be a problem. Right?"

"Fine," I mumble as she pulls six cans of shaving cream out of her suit case of doom- the same place that held the flour and also holds some other things that I'm afraid to ask about.

So then we get changed into sports bras and shorts so that we don't get our actual clothes or pajamas covered in shaving cream as well and then we go outside so that we don't get shaving cream all over my room because I'd be very annoyed if that were to happen.

"This is such a bad idea," I say but I'm laughing as I hold the first can of shaving cream in my hand with my brown hair now up in a messy bun to try and save it from the mess that is about to ensue.

"This is such an amazing idea," Heather counters from beside me with her own can of shaving cream prepared. The camera is standing on its tripod in front of us, filming this disaster but I guess that this will be an interesting memory to have. One that'll definitely go down in the history books.

"Okay, so how do we do this? On the count of three?" I ask her, shaking up the can of shaving cream. I'm not sure if that does anything to it but it feels like something that I should do to amp up the pressure.

"Yeah, I'll count down and then we just go at it until you can't see any skin. None at all. And no cheating," She warns me and I just nod in understanding. "Now, three... two... one!"

We spend an hour filming these different dares that Heather will soon edit into a fifteen minute video for her channel and even when Heather announces that this is the last one, I still have shaving cream crusted on my cheeks and shoulders but we'd successfully hosed off most of it. The smell is still haunting my nostrils though, but at least it smells alright.

"Okay, this last one is really deep, so get prepared," Heather warns both me and the audience before she reads the last dare. "Talk about love- do you believe in it? Who do you like right now?"

"Do I believe in love?" I echo in shock, not really wanting to answer that question and especially not on camera. "Wow, well I guess talking about boys does go along with the sleepover theme."

"It does," She agrees with a nod. "I believe in love. Of course I do. I mean, I don't like anybody right now because I just love you guys so much and it really does take a lot of time to love you guys as much as I do. So in a way, my fans take the place of a boyfriend right now. But someday that'll change and I'll grow up and I'll fall in love. It'll be so romantic. What about you, Jen?"

"No," I admit with a shake of my head. "I don't think so. I mean, I believe in love, but not true love or romantic love or that kind of thing. The whole thing is rigged, you know? You can like somebody with your whole heart, you can give them your whole being but they could just turn around and ignore you altogether. It's such an unfair game, and it's stupid."

"So you don't believe in love at all?" She wonders with wide eyes.

I just shrug. "I don't know. Not right now, I guess. But maybe I will someday. It's so complicated, the whole idea of love and whatever. It's too stressful to even think about for long periods of time."

"Well, that's enough deep talk for one video, so we're going to go now. Don't forget to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe and go over to Jensen's channel and subscribe to her as well, I'll put the link to her channel in a link below. We have the collab video coming out soon on Jensen's channel, so don't forget to look out for that one as well," Heather gives the camera her sign off.

I grin wildly at the camera as Heather says her goodbyes and then we sign off together before she turns off the camera and I start helping her pack up.

"This weekend was too short," She huffs, zipping up her evil suitcase of evilness. Lemon juice, syrup, cotton balls, and a bunch of other very simple household items were found in her bag but they all were turned against us for very evil purposes.

"I know," I assure her with a sad sigh. "But after graduation, we'll see each other so much more."

"Exactly," She chirps with a nod. "I'm thinking a summer in London. You know Wells and Indie could help us find an apartment- or, you know a flat or whatever- and we can meet all of those awesome people over there and do all of those collabs that we've been wanting to make for what feels like forever."

"That'd be really amazing," I smile at just the idea of getting out of here for a whole summer. Not that I don't love my family and everything, but it'd just be really cool to go to London, to be on my own and with Heather and a bunch of other YouTubers for a whole summer. It sounds like it's too good to be true though. "I don't know, maybe it could happen."

"Think about it, at least," Heather says. "I think that I could convince my mom to let me go alone but I really want you to come with me."

"I will think about it," I confirm. "I'm not sure if my mom'll go for it, but yeah, I'll definitely bring it up. London. That sounds like so much fun."

"Doesn't it?" She grins at me. "A nice 'what the hell' kind of trip before college starts and we really have to start acting like adults."

"Don't tell your mom that it's a 'what the hell' trip though, I don't think that she'll let you go. She'll duct tape you to your dining room table or something so that you'll miss your flight," I warn her with a laugh, considering how strict her mother can be. It's a miracle that she let Heather fly out here just for the weekend.

"Of course, I'll keep that part a secret," Heather assures me with a laugh. "But London. How crazy, right?"

"Yeah," I say with a sigh but now that she's put the idea in my head, the more and more that I really want this to happen. Maybe my parents won't like it too much but I have a lot of money saved up from my videos on YouTube and they sell in iTunes as well. I'm not sure if it's enough to buy an apartment (a flat?) in London, but it's worth a shot. "London. Wow."
