Chapter 20 Prince Adrien by the Sea

It was mid-morning when Adrienette woke up. They blushed when they remembered sleeping in the same bed. Marinette gets up first, then Adrien. Adrien smiled at her. Marinette saw him look her way and blushed. "Adrien, look in the mirror." She said and pointed at the small mirror on the way Jane had added to the hut.

Adrien looked in the mirror and gasped. He was no longer green. Not even a little.  He could tell by his appearance he was no longer a goblin or fake goblin as the other goblins they had killed before chasing the rest away had said.

"I am me again," He stated. "Yes, does this mean you will have to go?" Marinette asked. She sounded sad. "You can come with me, love," Adrien said. It was not a question. He hoped she would not mind going to his home by the sea. For that is where he belonged.

"Me, go with you. What would your people think? I am a peasant, and  I would hardly fit in with.." Marinette argued. "Shh, I will not take no for an answer," He said. Marinette nodded her head. She went to pack her few belongings and to tell Jane.

"Jane, I must hurry," Marinette said. "Where are you going? You have only just gotten back, and I thought things with you and Adrien were rather grand," Jane stated. "Oh, they are, but he wants to return home and for me to go with him," Marinette said. "Go with him to the palace by the sea?" Jane asked. She looked startled as if the idea had never occurred to her.

"You do not have to come you may do as you please," Marinette added. "I will stay. I will miss you though," Jane said with a sigh. "I will miss you too," Marinette said. She hugged her sister. Jane hugged her as well. Then, Marinette finished packing and headed back to Adrien's hut. "Adrien?" She called out to him. Adrien stood in the doorway with a frown across his face.

"Adrien, do tell me whatever is the matter?" Marinette asked. "Here my dear, take this," Adrien motioned, for her to take the sack. "What is it?" She asked. Adrien did not answer. Marinette hated his silence.  She attached the sack to a horse. She was unsure where it had come from but did not ask either. She also attached her satchel. Adrien seemed pleased and hoisted her up into the saddle.

He led her out of the little area and a few miles to the far northeast. Marinette remained silent.  She could not understand Adrien's sudden change in his mood. Was he regretting asking her to tag along with him?

After an hour, Marinette asked, "Adrien, what troubles you?"  Adrien looked at her in surprise. "Darling, you need not think what others will think. I love you and that is all that matters," He said. He sighed. Soon they would arrive at his palace, and he could only hope she would not leave because of where it stood. He worried his servants might chase her away. He climbed up behind her and held onto her waist. Marinette blushed from the close contact.

About ten minutes later, they came around the bend and there it stood. The palace by the sea, Adrien's home. Adrien put the horse in the stable and fed it. He removed the sack and handed Marinette her satchel.  The two entered the palace and a few servants gasped. They had thought him dead since he had been gone for such a long time.

"The prince returns," A servant said. "Yes, I see that the royal line is here at long last, but for how long?" Another added.

"I am here to stay, and so is my bride-to-be, Marinette," Adrien announced. He had told her he planned to propose. It just spilled out as he spoke. Many came and congratulated the two. Only two servants frowned angered at his choice of a bride. They did not think it proper for him to marry a peasant girl.   "It is my decision and it is final, "Adrien stated. The two ill-mannered servants were fired at once.  They packed and left in a huff.

Marinette stood with her mouth a gap, she could not believe what just transpired. She heard him defend her honor and he claimed her as his bride-to-be. Strange she thought, he has not proposed. Not that I remember anyway.

The other servants got back to work. Adrien pulled Marinette into a room. He shut the door, and before she could protest, he kissed her. "A-Adrien?" She muttered. "Shh, Marinette, I need to tell you something. I  love you. You are the one I want and I shall have you." He said. He saw her back up until she stood in front of a wall. He smirked. He could see them having fun in this room after they wed. He just needed to convince her to marry him.

"What is this room, Adrien?" Marinette asked. "It is the royal honeymoon suite," Adrien smirked. He saw her blush. "Marinette, you have not given me an answer, love."  "An answer?" She asked.

"As if you did not know, Will you marry me? " Adrien asked. "What if said no?" She teased him. "You better not, I would have to order you to be thrown in the dungeon for treason to the crown if you refused me." He told her. He was only half serious. She gasped, "You won't dare!"

Adrien smirked. "Please, Marinette, say yes. Say you will marry me!" He begged her. Marinette leaned in and kissed him. She pulled away before he could kiss back. "You drive a hard barbarian there, but since you have no intentions to stop asking, yes, I marry you, you silly oof," Marinette answered. Adrien smiled. He kissed her and whispered, "Then we shall be wed at once, so we can return her for our time."  He saw her blush more and laughed.

"A-Adrien?" She stuttered. "Yes, beautiful?" He asked. "How soon do you mean by at once?" She asked afraid to hear the answer. She was a bit nervous about the honeymoon part, especially after his teasing and how close he stood when he proposed. She bit her lip.

    Adrien smirked.

Later that evening, after dinner he announced that everyone was invited to the wedding.

Then, he left to change into his wedding attire. Marinette went to her chambers, and the servants helped her dress for the wedding. It had been years since the last wedding here when Adrien's father had married his mother.  They were thrilled.

Next, everyone entered the royal wedding area. Adrien smiled when he saw his bride in her wedding dress. The whole thing sparkled and shone. He felt he could fall in love with her all over again at the sight of her. She felt the same about him when she saw his green outfit.

The ceremony went by smoothly.  No interruptions stopped what was meant to be between Adrien and Marinette.  "I do," Adrien said. Then, it was Marinette's turn. " I do, " Marinette said.

The traditional thing at the palace was for the servants to leave the royals alone. They were not to disturb them at all.  If they did they would be in serious trouble. The royal's first night together was something special.
