LILITH VIPER was an interesting person. She was closed off, and never showed emotions to those she wasn't close with. She wasn't a very social person, she was quite blunt, sarcastic and people would say she was full of herself which caused the children in her district to stay away.

Her older brother Jackson often was similar. He was always agitated. He often lashed out at his other siblings and acted impulsively. He was like Lilith in terms of emotions, always closed off and never showing too much.

Lilith's mother always thought something was wrong with them and she had even taken them to the local doctor to see if anything was medically wrong. The doctor instantly denied her claims but recommended a psychiatrist for them her two youngest children to help them express their emotions more. They continued to go for a while until the psychiatrist decided that she didn't want to work with them anymore due to their lack of development.

Their 'condition' as her mother called it seemingly got worse when they lost two siblings to The Hunger Games; Nina and Jacob.

Jacob had been first. He was the oldest child in the household. One of her parents' pride and joy. Lilith never really bonded with Jacob but he was still her brother. He was reaped when she was 7 so Lilith didn't really know what was happening.

Then it was Nina two years later. The second pride and joy of her parents' life. When she had been killed by a career Lilith's parents cried their eyes out whilst Jackson and she was just merely sad.

Finally her brother Jackson. Even though he came back a victor, he wasn't really ever the same again. He had changed in the arena. He killed people by ripping their throats out with his teeth and leaving a large 'V' in their skull by hunting knife.

When he had returned from his victor's tour he had his canines sharpened into fangs to symbolise his kills. Lilith didn't mind though she was just happy that he had come home. Lilith had begged him to teach her some skills and she became quite good at hand-to-hand combat and knife throwing.

Lilith stared out the window with a scowl as the rain cleared and the only sound left was the permanent sound of the dam's machinery and rushing water. Today was the 67th hunger games. Last year the games were won by Augustus Braun, a tribute from district 1. When these games were announced the gamemakers announced that they were bored. They said that a special arena was being built especially for the occasion. However, they would not tell anybody what it was.

Her bedroom door burst open and her older brother stumbled in.

"You know for an adult you're very clumsy," Lilith laughed.

"Why thank you, little sister. You ready for today?" Jackon smirked.

"Nope," Lilith said brushing past him.

They exited her room and walked down the steps into the kitchen where her parents sat at the table. Lilith sat and bit into an apple from the bowl in front of her.

"You ready for today Lilith," Nicolas asked his daughter.

"Why is everyone asking me that? You do know I could potentially be called right?" Lilith exclaimed.

"Well your not," Jackson said rolling his eyes and biting into his toast. His fang-like teeth on display.

"Whatever. I'm going to go see Dean," Lilith said getting up from her place. Dean was Lilith's best friend. To be honest she didn't really know how they became best friends because they were so different.

"Well get back before the reaping," Nicola called out for her daughter.

"Sure mom." Lilith exited her house and walked down the street towards her best friends house. She knocked on the door and Dean opened it himself. She walked straight past him and into the house seeing his little sister on the table eating.

"Hey, Natalie."

"Hi Lilith," Natalie was 10 and very hyper. She stayed at Dean's house for a while before she had to leave.

When she entered her house her mother ushered her upstairs and into a red dress.

"You look beautiful," Nicola said.

"I know, can we go now." Her mother nodded and they walked down the stairs and out the door, her father and brother following. They walked down the road and parted ways. Lilith went up to the booth gave her name and stood in line like everyone else. She could see Dean across the courtyard and she waved to him whilst the usual district 5 escort, Elsa Sun, started her rambling.

Elsa was dressed in a ridiculous purple dress with matching hair which made Lilith want to laugh. Her brother, who was standing behind Elsa, also thought she looked ridiculous. Jackson was a usual mentor for the games. Lilith's thoughts of Elsa's ugly dress were interrupted when Elsa reached into the large glass bowl and dug around.

"Lilith Viper."

Lilith looked around as people parted.

Traitors

Lilith walked towards the stage. A peacemaker gripped her arm and she snatched it away from him, "I'm a germaphobe." She continued her way.

Jackson immediately grabbed her arm and dragged her to a secluded space, "Carry on." Jackson said gritting his teeth.

"You're gonna get killed."

"Thanks," Lilith replied sarcastically.

"I actually like you. You can't die."

"Aww, that's the sweetest thing you've ever said to me."

"Shut up. Go stand over there I have plotting to do."

She walked to the front of the stage where everyone was wasting.

"What's your name dear? " Elsa asked.

"Lilith Viper."

"Ok then we have our tributes, but the gamemakers decided to try something different. This year for the first time ever the tributes are given a chance to opt-out. How exciting!" Elsa clapped her hand excitedly and Lilith looked confused.

"However, a rule was added: If you don't opt-out, along with living in Victors' Village, and getting everything that they ever wanted, the victor would never have to be a mentor, and would never have to deal with the Games ever again. If you do opt-out, then you would be forced to participate in next years' Games."

Lilith stayed where she was and didn't move. So did the male tribute, "Ok then looks like we have our tributes for this year's Games," Elsa said clapping again. The peacemakers came and dragged the tributes to a room to say their goodbyes and Lilith sat calmly on a chair.

The doors burst open and her parents hugged her tightly. Her mother sobbed into her shoulder.

"Mom. I'll be fine. I have Jackson to train me." Pushing her mother off of her lightly.

"You better come back," Nicola ordered.

"I will. And if I don't, well too bad. Jackson gets to be an only child. Lucky him," Lilith said dryly as the peacemakers came and took her parents away. Not a moment later they dragged her away to the train taking her to the capitol.

Lilith sat in the train analysing every move of her district partner, Isaac. She had found out his name when Elsa told the boy not to worry. Tear line streaked down his face as he sat next to her timidly.

"Can I help you?"

"I'm Isaac Edinson. We go to the same school."

"How nice," Lilith replied dryly as Jackson chuckled. He lounged on one of the luxurious chairs drinking bourbon.

"Give him a break little sister. He's just trying to be nice."

Lilith rolled her eyes as Elsa stalked in from another cart. "How about we watch the other reapings," she exclaimed cheerfully.

She clicked on the tv and the district one reaping played. Lilith wasn't overly concerned about the other tributes mainly because her brother had partially trained her to kill them, but she still watched. The same thing that was said in district 5 was said in all the other districts and the cameras caught peoples' shocked faces.

When they finally watched all Lilith exited the room and left to find a bedroom. Once she found one she plopped down onto the bed and sighed heavily before falling back and letting sleep consume her.
