Chapter 9: Explain Yourself Kid
Chapter 9: Explain Yourself Kid
Spider Man’s Point of View
Right now, Jade is standing, yelling at Fury.
“Look, Patches, the trench coat and eye patch don’t scare me. You’re so called Avengers, are just like me. You’re just too blind to see it.” I smile at the last comment, oh the irony. Fury stands and walks out of the room. Jade stands there starring at the glass, and it seems like she’s staring at me, although I know she can’t see me. Fury walks back in the room with two very large men.
“These men, Ms. Leiton, are your escorts to your cell.” He says gesturing to the agents. No.
“Cell?” She chokes out. No, she won’t be able to handle this. They can’t put her into another cell. Moving forward, towards the glass, I lean on it to try and get closer and protect Jade.
“You alright, kid?” I hear Tony ask behind me.
“They can’t do this to her,” I mumble, mainly to myself.
“Why can’t they? She doesn’t exactly deserve a luxury suit.” Natasha says.
“Because they can’t.” I say sternly, facing her.
“Oh, I’m sure she’s been in a cell before, shouldn’t be that big a deal to her.” Captain Rogers says.
“Precisely why they can’t put her in another one. Not when SHIELD cells look so much like her old one.” I get baffled looks from everyone, but I still push the door open and run out. I see Fury, the two agents, and Jade turn a corner. I pull my mask on and continue running as the many memories of me comforting Jade from nightmares she’s had about her past surface in my mind. I hear the door open and many bodies rushing out after me. Finally catching up, I see Fury holding Jade in his arms and saying he needs medics into his earpiece. Moving the other two agents out of the way, I go to pick up Jade. Putting my left arm under her legs and my right arm behind her back, Fury gladly lets me take her. Everyone reaches us, but come to a screeching halt when they see a passed out Viper in my arms. I look down at her as well. She seems so small and weak, but I know if she were conscious, Jade would refuse any help.
“What happened?” I hear Steve ask.
“Told you she couldn’t handle it.” I say dryly, still looking at her.
“Well let’s get her to the infirmary. I don’t need an unconscious criminal on my shoulders.” Fury says walking the other way with the two agents.
“She looks so helpless and innocent.” Clint says. I can imagine him having mixed emotions about Jade as well.
“But she’s not.” Natasha quickly adds. Readjusting Jade in my arms, I begin walking towards the infirmary.
“Make sure the doctor knows she’s there.” Hill says before trailing after Fury. I nod to her and push my way through the Avengers. They turn and follow me silently.
“Peter, do you want me to ta-” Steve begins, but I cut him off.
“No. No one is allowed to see or talk to her until she’s awake and well again.” I walk down the hallway, but still hear several feet following me.
“You know kid, you might want to explain to us what’s going on between you and this girl if you want us to back off.” I hear Tony say behind me. Sighing, I turn to push the infirmary door open and see Tony, Clint, and Steve standing there. Continuing walking I say,
“I knew her a long time ago.” Still trying to show indifference, but I’m failing miserably.
“Viper or Jade?” Clint asks.
“Jade.” I reply placing her gently on an examining table.
“How?” Steve asks, but before I can answer the doctor comes in. She has wavy blondish brown hair, and brown eyes.
“Spider Man, what’s wrong? Is this the criminal you all just brought in?” She says with a British accent.
“Yes, her name is Jade Leiton and she passed out when she saw her holding cell.” I reply to her. “Please take good care of her…” I say trailing off.
“Simmons, Jemma Simmons, and don’t worry she is in the best of hands.” Jemma assures me. “Thank you.” I say turning back to the three men who followed me here. Giving in to the fact that I can’t keep this from them, I walk over to them and explain how I know Jade and what she means to me. I pull off my mask and begin to explain.
“3 years ago, I met a girl in a coffee shop. After we talked and got to know each other, I started seeing her as a true friend, one of my only friends actually. Apparently she felt the same way, because after about a year of knowing Jade, she invited me to her apartment one day and told me about her past. After that I ended up seeing her more often and started caring for her. She was coming by school to check up on me and my aunt and uncle grew to like her. It was getting to the point where I wanted to tell Jade that I was Spider Man, but then the Green Goblin happened and I couldn’t have her be a risk. After that, I didn’t talk to her, or anyone, for that matter. Eventually she stopped coming by the house and calling all together and I ended up not seeing her for over a year.”
“What did she tell you about her past?” Tony asks.
“It’s not for me to tell, you’ll have to ask her yourself.” Standing in silence for a few seconds, Clint says,
“She seemed so nice and funny. When I met her, I wanted to keep taking to her, but she seemed nervous. Now I know why.”
“Yeah, she does have that affect.” I say looking over to Simmons tending to Jade.
“The girl you described, she doesn’t sound like the girl on the jet or in the interrogation room.” Steve states.
“That’s because I knew Jade. It seems like she’s a very different person when she’s Viper. Like she harness’ all of her anger, fear, and sadness to get her job done.”
“That’s a tough skill to have. Natasha is the only other person I know who does that.” Steve says quietly. A few minutes pass by and Simmons walks over to us.
“It appears her body went into shock. You said it was at the sight of her cell, but it also might have been at a smell or noise. So I did a brain scan and found that her mind created a false reality where she saw and smelled a different environment. This woman has a very complex mind.” She tells us. Everyone looking to her limp body on the table, I smile at Simmons comment.
“She truly is fascinating.” Tony says in awe.
“Unfortunately she won’t wake up for a few hours. I will notify the director when she’s awake.” Jemma turns and goes to a back room, leaving us.
“Someone should stay here.” Steve says.
“Right, she might be stuck in the false reality. Uh, I volunteer.” Stark says walking over to Jade.
“Oh please Stark, you just want to stare and torment her. You do know you’re in a relationship right?” Clint says, shooting down Tony’s offer.
“Of course I do, but Pepper won’t mind.”
“Yes, she would. I say Peter stays with Leiton; he’d know how to calm her down. What do you say son?” Steve asks me.
“Yeah, I need to talk to her anyway.”
“Fine, well if that’s taken care of, I’m going to bed.” Tony says walking out.
“I think I will too. Feel free to get us when you’re done talking to her Peter.” Cap says following Tony. Clint stands by the table and looks down at Jade.
“It’s okay Clint, I can take care of her.” I say walking over him.
“I know, I just don’t know what to think of her.”
“Me too, but that’s what I’m hoping to decide later.” He turns and walks out. When I’m alone, I run back to find Simmons.
“Jemma?” I say hoping she’ll respond.
“Yes?” I hear from around a corner. Walking towards her, I ask,
“Is there any way I can talk to Jade alone when she wakes up. No cameras or anything.”
“Of course, I figured you’d want your privacy. That’s why I had Fitz over her set it up so when she wakes up, and the machines detect it, all cameras and mics will be turned off. After you leave the room, all cameras will be turned back on.” I look behind her and see a young man with brown curly hair sitting at a desk.
“But try to make it quick. Fury will get suspicious if the cameras are out for too long.” He says in a Scottish accent.
“I will, thank you.” I say walking out,
“Of course.” They say in unison. Putting my mask back on, I soot a web above Jade, hang upside down, and wait for her to wake up.
A/N: Aaaaannndd another update. Again in Spider Man's point of view. OOOooooOoOOoO. And FitzSimmons is included!! I didn't really want to think of a docter so I thought of several possibilities (Curt Connors, no, Reed Richards, eh,) but Leo and Jemma were the best options. Watching the season premiere of Agents of SHIELD though made me second guess myself, but I had already written it and I'm trying to stick to the Marvel Universe as much as possible.
Anyway, what'd ya think? I actually really like writing from a different POV so I will be doing it again in the story. I also wanted to know what you guys think of Clint not knowing what to think of Jade. He's suppost to be thinking that she's a nice girl, and then BOOM! Viper just comes in like a bitch and makes him second guess himself. I'm also trying to sqeeze in that she is similar to Black Widow. You know, Widow being a mercanary then joining SHIELD, not getting along with Hawkeye, then becoming his partner and so, and so.
Attached is a picture of Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz. By the way I ship them sooooooooo hard.
But I think that's it so, leave comments, votes and remeber I always love striking up a conversation with you!
Oh ya! Do you guys have any book suggestions? Lately I've found myself reading more on here, and I'm running out of books! A fangirls worst nightmare. So please give me your suggestions!
Okay, I'm done
