Chapter 6: Identity's and Pat Downs...
Chapter 6: Identity’s and Pat Downs…
Questioning whether I should react to my name or not, I simply look at the source. Expecting it to be Hawkeye, I find myself face to face with Spider Man. Wait, he actually does know me? Who is this guy? As if reading my mind, Captain America asks,
“You know her?” He doesn’t answer. Spider Man just shakes his head, brings his hands up to his face and turns away from me. Wearing the same look of confusion as everyone else, I look around the jet.
“Jade…” utters a dumbfounded Hawkeye. Shit.
“Jade Leiton.” He speaks up I cringe at my name and turn away from everyone.
“What? You know her too? Oh and I suppose Stark’s banged her before as well?” Black Widow asks.
“No, I’d remember a face, and body, like that.”
“Yeah, I do know her.”
“Ew, I‘d never bang Stark.” Stark, Barton, and I say simultaneously.
“Oh, and I’d slap you right about now if I wasn’t handcuffed.” I say towards Stark. Before he can respond, Rogers butts in.
“Clint, how do you know her?”
“I met her at the book store. Today actually.” Hawkeye replies looking at me.
“You look so different in just a t-shirt and jeans.” He says, looking at my suit.
“Yeah, you too.” I reply, examining his SHIELD uniform. Before this situation can get anymore awkward, for me at least, the jet comes to a jerking stop. Who’s been flying this thing anyway?
“It’s been on autopilot.” Red says while walking off the jet, still holding my mask. Oopps… Guess I thought out loud again. Hawkeye comes up behind me, placing one hand on my cuffed ones, and another on my back, in between my shoulder blades. He guides me out of the jet and as soon as we’re out, the door lifts back up and the roof opens. Wind pools into the hallway and the jet is lifted up from the floor. Turning my head and walking, Hawkeye still guiding me, I let my eyes wonder.
We’re walking down a long, dark hallway, with everyone walking in front of us. We pass many doors and I’m waiting for Big Bird to push me through one so I can be interrogated. Everyone stops and when Barton and I reach them, they form something of a circle around me, except Spider Man. I actually don’t know where he went.
“Whoa, are the Avengers gonna mug me?” I comment as Barton backs away.
“No, but we do need to collect your weapons.” Widow says who stands to the left of me. Barton stands in front of me with Spangles behind and Stark to my right. I feel a pair of hands on mine, taking my claws off. I jump and whip around to see Rogers behind me with a slightly shocked face. Turning back to him, I say,
“Sorry, force of habit.” He removes my claws and hands them to Widow. Patting my arms, I know he feels my arrows and knives. He turns my back towards Metal Head.
“Alright, sweetheart, I’m going to take your handcuffs off. Promise you won’t escape?” I hear him ask behind me. I roll my eyes and say,
“I promise… Sweetheart.” I could practically hear the smirk on his face. I really didn’t plan on escaping, not yet. I know I can take all of them, I did almost an hour ago, but it would still be stupid. Who knows how many agents are here? Besides, I want to know who that spider guy is. Lifting my arms so they can remove my bands, Cap turns me back to him. His hand reaches up my sleeve and removes the band of arrows. He hands them to Hawkeye, who inspects them.
“Careful.” I say trying to sound sincere, but I‘m pretty sure they all took it as sarcasm. Reaching back up my arm, Rogers pulls out the band of knives and looks at me with a raided eyebrow. I shrug and turn so he can take the straps on my other arm off. I haven’t felt human contact, other than when I’m beating someone up, in so long, it feels foreign to me. I think I shivered slightly when Spangles retrieved my knives. Hawkeye and Black Widow both have 1 of each strap and some of my claws. They inspect them while I’m turned back to Stark, who replaces my handcuffs.
“Wow, such a good girl.” He says, sarcastically, smiling at me.
“I always keep my promises.” I say retuning a smile. My back to Cap, I’m facing Barton who is still inspecting my weapons.
“Seriously guys don’t cut yourself, or anyone else.” I say quietly. They both look up at me, each other, and back at the arrows. I’m assuming they put the extras and knives in the many compartments of their suits.
“You probably don’t want to handle them much without rinsing your hands with rubbing alcohol either.” I add on. Not recurving glances from them, I continue.
“No really, there laced with poison.” This finally catches there attention. “What kind of poison?” Hawky asks.
“I developed it myself. It won’t kill you, I mean; it could, but only with a large dose. It’s only meant to knock someone out for an hour or two.” Stashing the weapons away they go back to staring at me. Cap continues with my pat down. Placing a hand on my side where a memorable scar is, I quickly take in a breather and jump slightly. Looking at me suspiciously, Rogers moves his hand away.
“Why can’t I do the pat downs?” Stark asks. We all give him the same look and Spangles says,
“Because you’re reckless.”
“Plus, you’re a creep.” I add. Metal Head opens his mouth, but Rogers beats him to talking.
“That too.” Rogers moves down to my legs and glides his hands down my left leg and in my boot. I tense and Stark takes notice.
“What’s wrong? Capsicle, arousing you?” he asks. Before death glaring Iron Buns, I notice that the Captain is blushing. Avoiding that thought, I turn to Red.
“Do I have permission to kick him?”
“No.” She replies bluntly. Huffing, I straightened myself and glanced down at Spangles to see that the red tinge on his face was disappearing. Thank God. I may not have been able to kick Metal Head; Widow does however walk to him and smacks him upside the head. Smiling I give a silent thank you to her by nodding. Cap moves to my right leg and I spread my legs apart, already knowing he’ll need to take my bag. He squats and looks up at me. I sigh and grab the edges of my skirt and do my best at lifting it so he can remove the bag easier.
The skirt is kind of like a skort, except it’s more unitard-y. That way I’m not flashing any guy I kick or jump over. I keep a bag on my thigh because, instinctively, I’d smack anyone who touched my leg so high up. Feeling Stark’s, and I think Barton’s eyes on me, as well as Rogers fingers unbuckling the two straps across my thigh, it’s taking every will in my body to not just knee Rogers in the face, bash his head in the wall, and then slamming the others into each other and on the ground. Standing back up, Spangles asks,
“That’s all?”
“I like to pack light.” I answer and prepare myself to walk again. Cap now guiding me, with Widow and Hawky in front of e and Iron Man behind us.
“Wait. Get her shoes.” I hear behind me. Damn. Making me lean against the wall, Spangles unties my show and I lift up my foot so he can take it off. He hands it to Stark who says,
“Rocket boots too?”
“Yeah, it’s quicker.”
“That’s how you did it!” he replies, referring to me traveling to Paris as well as jumping over him and being able to take him so quickly. Removing my other shoe and socks, I am now shivering from the cold fool on my bare feet with Barton holding a door open for me.
“Thank you.” I say to him as Rogers pushes me inside the room and pulls out a chair for me. Big Bird replies with a nod. I thank Spangles too before he leaves me in the room.
