Chapter 28: Captain America's A Dick

Chapter 28: Captain America's A Dick

*Jade’s POV*

After the whole scene took place in the kitchen, and my chat with Cap, which I’m still trying to decipher. I mean, what was that? He looked at me and I don’t know I was lost. I couldn’t think straight, and then he touched me. It shouldn’t have been that big of a deal right? Cause you know he’s carried me like the sack of potatoes I am as well as a child, but when he simply touched my shoulders I had to hold back a shudder. It must be that I’m not used to them touching me without their fists. Anyway, I had gone back to my room but got bored after 15 minutes and went to Peter’s room. Although we’ve patched things up, I still don’t think I could exactly hang out with them. Hell, I don’t even feel comfortable walking around the tower. I’m pretty sure I’m on house arrest after leaving last night, so that’s out of the equation. I suppose all I can really do is train, and the sooner I start that, the sooner I can leave. I assume. I actually don’t know what they plan on doing with me. Well, that can be a problem for another day, now I just want to start training. I bet there’s still time to do so today. What time is it, anyway?

“I don’t know, look at the clock.” Peter says from behind me. Oopps… I really should get a handle on that… I’m sitting on one of the chairs in his room sideways with my legs draped over one of the armrests. I turn so I can look at him and see he’s sitting in the corner of the wall, upside down, eating the last bite of a sandwich.

“How are you not choking?” I ask.

“I don’t know…” He says then swallows. “You’d think I would be, but I guess my apophyges just kinda pulls the food down… Or up?” Peter says pointing at his stomach which, with the way he’s sitting makes it seem up, but if he were vertical, it would be down. I laugh at his expression as I swing my legs off the chair and stand. When I look back at Peter, he’s smiling giddily.

“What?” I say looking at him.

“Nothing. I just haven’t heard that laugh in over a year.” Peter says flipping off the wall and in front of me.

“What, the high pitched screeching that sounds like a dying cat?” I say. I’ve never really liked my laugh if you couldn’t tell.

“Oh, please you don’t sound like that.” Peter says rolling his eyes.

“Whatever.” I say as I walk past him to look at the clock on his bedside table. 12:32. “It’s only 12:30?” I whine as I turn back to him.

“Really? Feels like 5.” He says. “Guess time flies when you have an emotional morning.” Peter says with a terrible regal accent.

“Oh shut up.” I say punching him in the arm. Peter smiles as he rubs his arm.

“Well since we’re both bored and you seem to be in an energetic mood, why don’t we head down to the training center?” Peter suggests.

“Great!” I exclaim excitedly as I make my way to the door.

“Okay I’ll get everyone to meet us down there.” Peter says as I walk out the door. I walk to the elevator and head up to the 83rd floor to change. As I step out, I see St-Tony stepping out of the other elevator across the room.

“Hey, Peter and I wanted to start my training, if you’d like to join.” I say turning down the hall.

“Yeah, be down in a sec.” I hear along with the sink turning on.

As I open my door I hear the sink turn off and, “Hey, Marie Antoinette!” I sigh while turning on my heel to see Tony jogging down the hall to me.

“Yes, Mechanics McGee?” I ask as he reaches me.

“Nice, and I just wanted to make sure, but we’re good right?” He says while drying his hands with an old rag that’s covered in grease and oil. He’s wearing a black tank top and has grease on his left forearm and upper right bicep. As I’m studying him I notice his shirt is slightly stretched out in his chest. I guess that’s where the arc reactor used to be. I wonder what life was like with that. Maybe I could ask him one day, if we ever get past the stage of acquaintances or forced friends... I look back up to his eyes. They’re big, brown, and full of curiosity. It’s easy to see Tony loves learning new things and figuring them out, even if he doesn’t show it. I notice he has a bit of grease on his left temple that makes its way down his jawline. I take the rag from his hands, cup the right side of his face and begin to wipe away the grease. I can feel his gaze on me as I focus on removing the grease. Thankfully the rag was still damp from Tony drying his hands. I glance at him to make sure I wasn’t too rough with the rag, but he seems unfazed. I lean back down when all the grease is gone and hand him the rag.

“We’re good Tony.” I say looking back up at him. He gives me a smirk and then walks past me to his room.

“You’re good Leiton. You’re good.” He says over his shoulder as I walk in my room with a smile. Hopefully I will be able to ask Tony about the arc reactor one day. After all, the majority of what I’ve read, I’m sure it’s better told in person.

Since I didn’t consider getting shorts or any athletic wear whatsoever, Jarvis ended up getting me some clothes to train in. I made sure they weren’t Natasha’s too. I don’t really perceive her as a clothes sharing type. So as of now, I am stretching on one of the mats in leggings, tennis shoes, and a grey athletics tank top with the SHIELD logo on my left breast, like a nametag. I hear the elevator ding and stand up to face the elevator and see Big Bird. I mean… Clint… I may be a bit eager considering I was changed and down here in 7 minutes after me and Peter decided to do this.

“Do you have anything you’d like to start with?” He asks walking over to me.

“No, not really. It’s not like I’m new to this or anything, so whatever works for you guys.” I say.

“Okay, well while we wait for the others why don’t you tell me what weapons you’re comfortable with. We may not have little arrows that shoot out of your sleeve, but I’m sure you’ll find something.” He says with asmile as we walk over to the area that has an assortment of weapons. I roll my eyes at his assumption that I won’t know how to use any of the weapons I look up and down the wall that has different swords, guns, bows, and several things I’m pretty sure are from Tony’s, uh, “play room.” And no, not his X-Box and stuff, if you’re catching my drift.

“Okay, I will admit, I don’t even know what some of these are, but I’ve my fair share of training.” I say picking up a mace with a quirked eyebrow towards Clint.

“Yeah, Thor likes to use weapons from Asgard. He’s trying to teach us all something in case we ever end up having to go there.” He says.

“Oh my God, that would be so cool!” I say ecstatic which seems to catch Clint off guard. I suppose it’s because he’s never really witnessed me try excited, yet. But I continue. “Could you imagine? Fighting the strange creatures they have there, working with the Warriors Three and Lady Sif. Oh it’s be amazing!” Now it was his turn to look at me quizzically. “Thor’s file had everything that happened in New Mexico and then I did my own research on Asgrad.” I explain. He still looks at me like he’s seeing a hippo in a tutu so I continue, “Oh, come on. You can’t say you don’t want to go to Asgard.” His demeanor lightens up and he lets out a chuckle. I think I’ve gotten through to him.

“Okay, maybe I want to go to Asgard… And walk down the Rainbow Bridge, and eat like a God, and fight Bilgsnipe!” He says getting more excited throughout his sentence. I laugh at his excitement as I’ve never seen him like this either. It’s actually really nice seeing this side of him, and I have a feeling he doesn’t really show it that much. “Tasha and Steve say it’d be unwise to go through.” He states a little less happy.

“I never said it was unwise. I just said that if we do end up going, it probably will be because a real issue has to be taken care of there.” I hear behind me. I turn to see Steve walking up to us. He’s changed into black sweats and a grey SHIELD shirt like mine. As he gets closer, I can see just how fitted his shirt is. Okay, I get it, super soldier serum, blah, blah, blah… Ok, who am I kidding, that serum has committed one of the greatest acts ever. Before I begin staring, I clear my throat and put the mace down.

“But you have to admit, it’d be pretty cool.” I say glancing up at him, to my left.

“Well it wouldn’t be boring.” He replies. I smile at his answer while walking around Clint to a section that’s just bow and arrows.

“This all yours?” I ask Clint.

“More or less. You shoot?” He asks.

“I dabble.” I simply say picking up an arrow that doesn’t even have an arrow head. It’s rounded with 2 small button looking things on the tip. I’m about to touch it, but Clint quickly snatches it out of my hand and places it back.

“Electric arrow.” He explains. I make and “O” with my mouth, but then change my attention to the elevator when it dings open. Out walks Natasha and Bruce. Bruce is in a similar attire to Steve and Natasha… well she’s in a figgin’ cat suit. It’s not like her Black Widow one, but similar. I look down at myself and back to her. I glance over at Clint who seems to have brightened up.

“She works out in a cat suit?” I whisper to him.

“I’m not complaining.” He whispers back. At this moment, I realize, I’m living with 6 of the hottest people in the news. I would include Peter, cause there’s no denying his good looks, but he wears a mask, so people don’t see him. But, seriously, I am surrounded by gorgeous people and they’re looking at a girl whose average at best in the looks department. There’s also the fact that I’m not wearing any makeup. Granted that’s mainly my fault, but I normally don’t care about my looks, much less what people think of them, as I’m sure you’ve already figured out. But have you taken a look at these people lately? Okay, look at them, then me, back to them, me again, and finally back to the Avengers to wash your eyes out of me. Okay, so I know I’m not ugly, but let’s be honest. I’m no Natasha Romanoff, or Jane Foster, or… Peggy Carter. But I don’t want any comments saying, “No Jade, you’re beautiful.” Cause, I will admit I’ve had my go rounds and I know I can attract an eye or two, but really, I’ve only been with one guy, and when you grow up hearing that you’re not good enough, or that since you’re the only option, I guess you’ll do, your self-esteem isn’t exactly set too high. So now with all them here, yeah I’m gonna think like that. I hear another ding and see Thor, Peter, and Tony walk out I quickly jog over to Peter.

“What took you so long?” I tease.

“I went to your room to get you” He defends.

“We said we’d meet down here.” I tell him as we reach the group.

“Oh…” Is his only response, which releases a chuckle from everyone.

“Well now that everyone’s here, what do you wanna start with?” I hear Steve ask. I simply shrug in return. Really I can handle anything they throw at me.

“Let’s start with what you know. Who trained you?” Natasha asks. I was about to say I don’t know, but if HYDRA kidnapped me, then I’m pretty sure they trained me too. I hadn’t seen anything about a Jared White in the file, but I’ve just barely scratched the surface with all that information.

Before I can answer, Steve does for me. “HYDRA, right?”

“Pretty sure.” I answer.

“So we know little to nothing.” Tony says.

“Now hold on. HYDRA tends to train mainly in force and strength. Right?” Steve says then looks at me.

“Well sure, but L-um they built up my strength, but that’s mainly because I was so weak. I was the first female agent, I guess, so White focused more on using my size to my advantage.” I explain. I take a deep breath after I do, because I almost had to tell them about Luc. Sure, we’re all on the same page now, but Luc is one of the few things I’d prefer to keep personal. As everyone mulls what I said over, I look up to Peter. He knows I almost said Luc. I can’t bear to look at his questioning eyes for long so it’s just a quick glance, but I know I’ll definitely hear about that later.

“I say we see what she’s got and go from there.” Tony says.

“What?” I ask.

“One of us will spar with you and we’ll see how it goes.” Natasha says.

“Oh, okay.” I say. Everyone looks around the group as if deciding, but I hate these silent conversations they have. “So, who’s the lucky contestant?” I ask while spinning on my heel and walking to the mats. I get to the mats and still don’t have an answer so I look back at them and say, “Oh, come on.” I pout slightly, trying to look innocent. “I don’t bite. Well…” I trail off.

I see Peter smirk and then Steve makes his way through the group and says, “Let’s see what you got.” I smile as he reaches the mats.

“So how we gonna do this, is there like a bell, or something?” I say turning away from him to the other side of the mat, but right when I turn and see Steve across from me a horn goes off. Maybe not a horn, but the sound reminds me of how the Hunger Games tributes are notified that the blood bath has begun. I look to my right and see the rest of them have moved to a panel that has buttons and switches. I quickly look back to Steve and see he’s gotten in a fighting stance so I copy him. Considering he’s much larger than me, I wait for him to make the first move. Normally, my agility and reflexes are my strong points in a fight against larger opponents, but in this case, not so much. I know Cap can easily beat me, but I have to play out his weak spots. If I can surprise him, I can beat him. We begin to circle each other and I know he’s waiting for me, because he thinks I’m head strong and prideful, which is slightly true but not this time. Catching on, Steve finally throws a right punch which I duck under, grab, and turn myself into him, my back pressed to his chest I elbow him several times in the ribs with my elbow, but that doesn’t last long. He’s able to move his right leg in front of mine and wrap his left arm around me. He yanks his right arm out of my grasp and pins my arm behind my back. Before I can retaliate, he kicks back my right leg with his and makes me fall. While I lie idly on my face, Cap pins my left arm to my back as well and I can feel him over me, his right leg taking a knee on my right side, and his left foot planted firmly on my left side.

“You know, you put up more of a fight in the ally.” Steve says.

“Wait, this is considered a fight?” I say. Then while he’s distracted, I jerk my right shoulder up, causing his grip to loosen and giving me the ability to twist onto my back. With Steve keeling over me, I grab his left thigh and swing myself out and under him, to my feet Steve tries to get up and turn, but I kick his back which does cause him to fall, but he recovers into a somersault and stands. Steve comes at me again with a punch, but I can already see it’s a distraction to his right leg coming for my guy. I duck under his punch and use my arms to push his leg away. To any normal human, this would cause them to fall, but Steve simply turns around. I go to turn with him, but he grabs my shoulders and knees me in my left side. To stop him, I ram my left palm into his thigh, which I’m praying hit some kind of tendon. Hearing him hiss in pain, I reach up behind me and grab his neck. Using this grip as a brace, I lift myself up and kick both legs out, like a bucking bronco. This causes my whole body to move and with the new found force, I use Cap’s body weight against him and flip him over my body and onto his back. Standing in front of him, I know I caused some pain because he holds onto his guy while turning to the left. The pain staring to kick in, in my side, I grab it and walk over to Steve and offer him a hand. I personally thought this was over, but Steve proves me wrong by performing a left shoulder roll and kicking my right back knee in the process. I end up kneeling, due to pain, as he stands above me. Okay, if he wants to play dirty, I’ll play dirty. I wasn’t planning on playing this card, but I’d say he’s pretty well earned it. Steve goes to kick me and normally I’d roll out of the way, but, no. I let him round-house kick me in the face, making me fall, cause Lord know I’ve been through worse. I lay there, not moving or speaking. I do however feel several tears slip, because, I mean, come one, I just got kicked in the face by Captain freakin’ America.

After several seconds, I hear Peter. “Jade!” But I still don’t move. My hair has fallen over my face, so it’s slightly concealed. I hear Steve walk over to me. He kneels down and I feel his hand on my back.

“Jade?” He says warily and I can practically feel the guilt in his voice which almost makes me feel bad for what I’m about to do. Almost. I quickly turn and wrap my leg around the back side of his neck and grab his left arm for stability. He’s completely and utterly shocked which just makes it easier to push myself up and him down, although I do hear a distinctive crack. And due to Steve crying out, I assume it’s from him with him on his back and me basically sitting on him, I determine the cracking came from his left shoulder. I quickly turn myself away from him, detangling my leg, and stand. I still hold my left side with my right arm, but offer him my left hand.

“Now are you going to take my offer or continue to be a dick?”

A/N: Okay! So, Jade had her first training session and it went kinda... Well I don't know you tell me.

And now for the same ass question that I always ask, what did ya think?! I know not a lot happened plot wise, but I figured I'd add some chapters just for fun. Anyway, who do you think won, Jade or Steve? Do you think it was an overall good fight(ish) scene? How do you think this will affect Jade's life at the tower? Oh, and do you like the little scene between her and Tony and then Clint? I'm probably going to have Jade do a little something with all of them to kinda create all of their individual relationships with her. You guys could actually leave comments on what you want her to do with them! So, yeah leave suggestions and I will take them into consideration, because I haven't even written that far. Okay, yeah, that's the game plan. Oh, and I'll of course give you credit.

Okay, well I think that's all... Wow this is a real short author's note... Whatever... Love ya and I'll chat with ya in the comments!
