Chapter 12: Mmmm... Shawarma

Chapter 12: Mmmm… Shawarma

Apparently that was all they wanted from me because now they were all escorting me back to my cell. I’m guessing it’s about 5 o’clock and when I hear Stark’s stomach rumble I assume I’m right. I’m also reminded about how hungry I am. Seriously! How hard is it to give a girl a sandwich?!

“Well if you guys are handling her,” Stark says pointing to me, “I think I’ll go for a Shawarma run. Do you guys want anything?” Oh my God… Shawarma sounds so good right now… and then we pass a cafeteria type area. I stop and lean back to look inside as I smell what I think is pork stew. Mmmmm… Pork stew sounds good too… Hell! Anything sounds good right now!

“You want something too Handsy?” Stark asks bringing my attention back to the super heroes.

“Uh…” Is all I manage to say while my gaze goes back to the cafeteria. I don’t know if he’s being sarcastic or not and I’m not in the mood to be teased right now. It’d just get bad.

“Yeah, when was the last time you ate?” Barton asks.

“I went to a diner after the book store, so then.” I answer still looking in the cafeteria.

“You haven’t eaten in over 15 hours?” asks Peter concerned.

“You know I’ve gone longer, just not in a long time.” I say looking back to the group.

“Okay I don’t care if you want something or not, I’m getting you some Shawarma.” Stark says walking away. After he’s gone, we continue walking. When we reach the room I wait for Widow to open the glass room and walk inside. I turn and wait for someone to come inside and take my handcuffs off. Thor stops Rogers from walking in and does so himself. He walks up to me and looks down at my hands. I look up to him. Damn he’s tall and just large in general. Well duh, he’s a God. He smiles and looks in my eyes.

“And you are small, quite fragile looking in fact. But from what I hear, you are very lethal, Lady Viper.” I sigh, 38, as I realize I thought out loud again. Although he took the hand cuffs off, he doesn’t leave. Rubbing my wrists, I meet his electric blue eyes again and ask

“Yes?” He looks down, as if ashamed and then back to me.

“May I ask you a question?” I look around him and see the others are still there, waiting for Thor.

“You just did.” I answer him with a slight smile. Smiling himself, he releases a low chucker and says,

            “Yes, but a different question.”

“Sure, but I might not answer.” I tell him.

“Fair enough. You make it seem like something terrible happened to you. I will not make any assumptions, but I do have my theories, would you mind confirming them?” I look at him and see true concern and interest written across his face. I look behind him again and see Peter and the other Avengers are intrigued. Peter looks like he’s ready to intervene, but I don’t need him to. I look back to Thor. He’s the only one who tried to understand me, not just get the facts.

“I’ve been thrown around my whole young life and the people I was with for so long did horrible things to me and many others. They probably still are.” I whisper the last part. Thor walks close to me and lifts my head, making my eyes go from my feet to his.

“You are a brave soul, Lady Viper, and you have endured many things that I’m sure even Asgardian culture would not approve of.” Placing one of his huge bear hands on my shoulder and giving it a squeeze, Thor walks out of the cell. Peter has a smile on his face, as if he were proud of me. Barton, Romanoff and Rogers all look surprised, and Banner looks down as if he’s processing the information in his systematic mind. I walk to the middle of the cell and sit down; my legs crossed and look straight down at the clouds. From where we were in the sky, you could already see the sun setting. I looked up at the clock above the door. 5 hours 52 minutes 39 seconds. I need to get out of here soon, because now Thor is going to be harder to betray. Okay. It’s decided. I’m leaving tomorrow. I’ll have to spend the night thinking of a plan and conserving my strength. I look up and see everyone’s still here. Really, what are they waiting for? I raise my eyebrows and ask my question silently. Before anyone can answer, something comes bursting through the doors. I stand, preparing myself for whatever it is. I see figures through the smoke move, some in fighting stances, others just standing there. As the smoke clears and goes out through the floor, I see what looks like a man standing in front of the glass. Oh what now?

“Hmm, and here I thought you’d be happy I brought you food.” I hear a robotoic voice say. Stepping closer to the figure, I see it’s an Iron Man suit. I hear some gears move and the suit releases, you guessed it, Tony Stark. Relaxing, I say,

“You always have to make a grand entrance, don’t you Metal Head?”

“Yes, he does.” Rogers says behind him. Stark smirks and turns to his team mates.

“Why’d you put her back in there?” He asks.

“Why wouldn’t they?” I butt in slightly confused by his question.

“Fury doesn’t like it to get too messy in there, and if you’re going to eat, it’s not gonna be in there.” Stark says walking up to the control panel and pushing a button, opening the room. I stand in the doorway feeling that if I stepped out, I might be tackled by a super soldier, or spy. Plus there’s kinda an Iron Man in front of me. I could go in the suit and escape now… But I wouldn’t be able to get my stuff, plus I doubt I could figure out how to use it in the 2 seconds I’d have before someone shot, or threw something at me. Stark walks in front of me and the Iron Man suit. He backs up into the suit and it encases him once again.

“C’mon, sweetheart.” He says holding his metal hand out to me. I look at the mask skeptically. “Oh, c’mon, what am I going to do by holding your hand?” His robotic voice says. I take his hand and we walk out of the room.

“Why aren’t you putting handcuffs on her?” Romanoff asks behind us.

“You expect her to eat in handcuffs?” Stark looks back to her. “And besides,” he continues, “You aren’t gonna leave, right sweetheart?”

“Nope.” I simply say. Not yet.

Stark walks me back to the room we were just in and lets me sit down. I see several bags of Shawarma in the middle of the table and wait for everyone to sit down.

“Be right back.” Stark says walking out of the room. Peter sits next to me, Thor takes the other side, Banner sits next to him, while Romanoff sits across from him, then Barton, Rogers sits across from me, which leaves a seat across from Peter left for Stark. I could smell the food and in haled the sent deeply, closing my eyes. Opening my eyes, I look at the bags of food like a predator and they’re all my prey. I am seriously starving right now. I don’t take any of the food though. After all, it was really meant for the other people here. Stark walks back in, suit less, and takes his seat.

“Well dig in.” He says, mostly at me. I quickly glance at him, back to the food, then to everyone around the table.

“Please, you guys first. It was really meant for you.” I say looking away from the food. Over the years I’ve gained a lot of self-control.

“Oh thank God you said something.” Barton says while grabbing a bag of food. Widow smacks the back of his head with an annoyed look on her face. “Ow! What?” I giggle a bit.

“It’s okay.” I say. To prove my point more, I pass the other bags of food out to the rest of the table. Peter takes one of the bags and hands me a sandwich.

“Eat.” He says. I gladly take it from him and unwrap it. I take a bite and savor the taste. Sweet baby Jesus, I am enjoying this. Everyone laughs or smiles, even Rogers, and Hawkeye says

“You know, for someone who hasn’t eaten in 15 hours, you handled yourself pretty well.”

“Huh? Oh yeah, well I’ve had to go 3 days without food, just not in a long time.” I reply through a mouth full of food, casually. After swallowing, I whisper to Peter, “I said that sweet baby Jesus thing out loud, didn’t I?”

“Uh huh.” Is all he says while shoveling more food in his mouth. Ugh, teenagers. Wait, Peter is probably 20 now… Man I missed a lot.

After a few minutes of everyone eating, Rogers asks,

“Why did you wait for us to eat?” Wiping his mouth with a napkin. I answer,

“You bought food for yourselves and me. It was only the polite thing to do. I may be a criminal, Captain, but I’m not an animal.”

“And you said she was incapable of such a thing, Steve.” Banner says with a smile. I look towards Spangles with my eye brows raised.

“Thanks, man, really. Thank you so much for that.” I say sarcastically, as if I never knew that I can be rude sometimes. But you would too with the way these people treat me. At this, I realize that they’ll never see me as anything other than a criminal.

“I’m sorry, but that was before I-”

“Before what? Before you actually knew me? Yeah, well guess what, you still don’t know me. So, Captain, you aren’t allowed to give your opinion on me anymore. Kay? Kay.” He looks down, ashamed almost. I finish my sandwich and grab a water bottle in the middle of the table. When I touch the bottle, the cold runs through me. I realize just how cold I am. When I sit back down, I pull my legs up onto the chair and cross them in an attempt to keep my feet warm.

“Even if it’s a good opinion?” I hear Banner ask. Swallowing my water, I look at him and answer.

“Of course. It would be hypocritical of me if I took a compliment from any of you. Peter is the only person whose opinion I would accept.”

“What about physical opinions?” Romanoff asks.

“I suppose that’s the one acceptation. But you don’t need to know me as a person to see that I’m short and have blonde hair.” I answer her. “And if someone insults my appearance, you’ll most likely get something even worse thrown back.”

“So I can say that your blue eyes are as magnificent as the sea and your body wants to make me leave Pepper?” Stark asks.

            “Tony!” Romanoff shouts.

“Tony, seriously step away. If you-” Peter says standing.

“It’s fine guys. I would never,” I say looking towards Iron Buns, “Ever consider Stark as a romantic option. And really Stark, ‘As magnificent as the sea’? I feel sorry for this Pepper chick if she has to deal with those type of pickup lines.”

“Ouch. That really stung sweetheart.” Metal Head says while clutching his chest, as if it actually hurt him. I smile smugly towards him and take another sip of water. I wait for everyone to finish eating before I ask,

“Okay, where’s the bathroom in this heap?” Everyone looks at me suspiciously. “Oh c’mon guys, I have a bladder just like you.” I say gesturing to my crotch. Peter begins to laugh, but covers it with a cough. I look around waiting for someone to tell me. Everyone looks to Romanoff who rolls her eyes and stands.

“Come on.” She says waving her hand for me to follow. I stand quickly and follow behind her. We walk down the hallway and all that I can hear is her boots clacking across the floor. We stop at a door that says “Women’s” on it and walk in. There are several stalls and a few sinks. I walk to one of the stalls and hear Widow walk in the bathroom as well. I turn and say,

“You know, you don’t have to come in here with me.”

“Just be grateful I’m not going to be standing the stall with you.” She says back.

After drying my hands we walk back to the room.

“Alright, let’s take her back to her cell.” Red says as we step in. I grab my water and head out with them. When we reach my cell I throw the water to Peter, seeing that they’d take it from me anyway. As I walk past Stark I say,

“Thank you for the meal, it was quite satisfying.”

“Of course.” He replies with a nod. I walk into my cell and turn on my heels giving them all a salute. I also give the Spangles a wink referring to the salute and my politeness towards the 7 heroes. They all leave in silence and I return to my position on the floor. I look at the clock and see it’s almost 7:30. Looking at the clouds, I devise a plan for my escape.

A/N: Alrighty, so Jade has decided to excape. How do you think she will? Who will she run into one the way out? Do you guys like Shawarma? I know that has nothing to do with Jade escaping, but I love it and it's right by my school so I go there for lunch sometimes.

Anyway the picture attached is the one, the only, the God of Red Capes himself, Thor! I just love his smile in this picture. I liked writing there little talk and Thor is the one who's kinda clued in that she had a hard life growing up. Well a bit more than hard. Again you guys will get a super chapter about her past, but there will still be a bit of mystery that will keep you guys guessing.

Also this chapter is dedicated to Josh Hutcherson cause it's his 22nd Birthday today!! (October 12th) I am a huge Huger Games fan so I had to do something for him. So thank him for an update, cause I wasn't planning on doing so until Tuesday, but figured aye! It's your future husbands birthday, do something for him!

Oh, and guys, Viper is at 1.13K views!! There's 88 votes and 70 comments too!! Seriously this is so big for me and I only have you guys to thank!! Thank you, thank you, thank you sooooo much! I honestly hope all of you actually enjoy the story and that you guys will stick with it, because I promise I will!!

Okay, now that the sappy, clique part is out of the way, lets keep the numbers climbing and I will talk to you in the comments and next update!!
