His fangs were in Black's throat before he knew what'd hit him, his eyes glowing red as the Goddess disappeared, taking Iliya with her. Glowing red locks of hair fell in front of his burning eyes, his mind solely focused on the odd hunger he could feel in the pit of his stomach.

"Finn?!" The startled blonde Alpha stared at him, trying to push him away, but his strength was no match for a Vampyris.

"Finn..." Genesis whispered, her eyes wide, and then she was behind him. "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ignore your wishes..." She mumbled, wrapping her arms around him, her hair turning the exact same shade as his as she pried him loose from his friend, dragging both of them down to the ground.

His gaze met her matching one, soon darting down to her neck, and Genesis knew what he was seeing.

"Go ahead." She stared up at him, not flinching in the slightest.

Sharp teeth gritted together, a sense of realisation coursing through her as she realised her mate would never hurt her. Not in that state. He was acting on primal instincts which was why he pulled away from her, standing quickly, and then he was gone in a flash of red light.

"FINN!" She stood, intending to chase after him, but then a hand closed around her arm.

"Let him go." Alpha Thorn sighed. "This is what Lunaria wanted to happen." He muttered, wincing as a bolt of lightning slammed into him from the sky. "Damn that woman..."

"Well, at least your resistance to lightning is improving." Alpha King Rylan grinned, but the humour was soon wiped from his face as he heard the screams echoing from the woods a fair distance away.

"Leave it." Thorn scowled. "She meant for this to happen."

"But-"

"It's the only way, Rylan." Blaze spoke up. "The only way for Finn to understand what Genesis went through all those years ago."

"He'll remember everything." Genesis whispered, tears filling her eyes as she tried to wrench herself free from the Alpha's grasp. "I have to stop him!"

"Don't you get it?!" Thorn's hair turned white, his red eyes staring into her own as he crushed her arm in his iron grip. "This is happening so that you actually have a chance of being with him."

"I don't care about that!"

"Stop being so bloody unselfish!" He scowled. "Don't you want a happy ending?!"

"Shut up!" She shook her head. "I just don't want him to have to go through what I did! Don't you get it?!" Her voice faltered "... I just want him to be happy."

The Alpha's grip didn't loosen in the slightest. "If only Finn could see you now..." Thorn sighed, pulling her into a hug as sobs filled the air. "He's such an idiot..."

Finn stared blankly at the sky, the oddly sweet taste still on his tongue as he watched the snow fall around him, slowly starting to wash away the red pools of blood staining the frosty ground around him. Animal carcasses were dotted on the landscape all around him, and he was thankful for that. If there hadn't been as many animals, he knew deep down he'd have headed into the nearest town. That still didn't stop the tears of remorse, though. His grey-eyed gaze turned to the small cabin he was lying outside, a cold feeling in his chest as he remembered their faces.

Whether he liked it or not, he'd killed the couple in there.

The realisation was horrifying to him. He couldn't take back their deaths. He couldn't do anything to erase the grief eating away at his heart.

He was an Alpha.

Someone who was supposed to protect the Pack, and yet there he was. Lying in the snow, having just killed two of them.

Electric blue eyes stared down into his own tearstained grey ones. "Oh, Finn..." Blu sighed, helping the grief-stricken man to his feet.

"Let's go home." Rylan said, slipping one of Finn's arms around his shoulders, half carrying the brunette to the car. "You look like you could use a long break."

Finn said nothing.

"Is he going to be alright?" Black stared sideways at the small group, opening the car door for them, revealing a grim-faced Genesis sitting in the back seat.

"I killed two people..." His voice was a whisper. "What do you think?!"

The Alpha reached for him, "Finn."

"Don't touch me."

The words made Genesis flinch, even though they weren't directed at her that time.

"I killed two people in cold blood... In that cabin..." Sobs wracked his body, big fat teardrops rolling down over his cheeks. "All because..."

"It's alright, Finn." Hunter, the Alpha of Medicine, was there in an instant, helping him into car. "You had no control..."

"All abilities can be controlled," and with that Finn slammed the door shut, trapping himself in with his mate.

"Finn..."

"It's Alpha to you."

Tears pricked her eyes. "Alpha Finn..."

"Why do you keep saying my name?" He gritted his teeth. "What do you want?"

"I-"

"Is this the part where you laugh at me?" Watery eyes met her matching ones. "Where you mock me for being unable to hold back?!"

Her seatbelt clicked, her arms wrapping around him, not caring as he tensed in her arms.

"Don't touch me." He scowled as her grip on him only tightened. "Get off!"

"No."

"I don't want your bloody hands on me!" He hissed, pure venom in his voice. "I've got enough staining my own as it is!"

"Shut up." Her hold on him tightened once again. "I don't care if you blame me for this whole thing right now... just don't lay all the blame on yourself..."

Finn blinked. "You're right..."

"Yeah."

"It's your fault."

Tears streamed down her face. "I know."

"Stop."

"What...?"

"Just be quiet." Finn's voice was barely above a whisper as he pushed her back to the other side of the car. "I don't want to hear your voice right now."

"Oh."

His head rested in her lap without a second thought, ignoring the way she tensed up as his warmth soaked through her jeans. "Just stay still and let me lie here awhile..."

"It's OK, Finn..." Genesis whispered, gently stroking his soft brown hair as he lay sprawled across her legs, the pair of them lapsing into silence as two other Alphas joined them in the car and then they were off.

Driving back to Blagmoor Castle.

The last place Genesis thought she'd ever have ended up in.
