Night 5

Leaves rustled on that very night, where the she-cat last saw the moon. The white moon cast an eerie glow on the ground, making everything look white.

"The brightest night doesn't mean anything good..." The she-cat murmured. Even though she couldn't see, she knew it was a bad omen.

Then she prodded a sleeping cat next to her. "Is the night bright?"

The sleeping cat flickered its eyes open and murmured, "no," before falling back asleep. The breeze stilled the she-cat's fur.

"I am afraid the killer will target me just because I'm blind," the she-cat sighed. She crept to the darkest corner of the den and tried to sleep.

"Don't try to hide."

The she-cat jerked up, knowing the killer was leaning above her. The killer's claws pierced through her fur, releasing a ripple of pain. "You are useless to the Clan."

Even though the she-cat couldn't see, she knew the killer's eyes were now on her throat. Swallowing, the she-cat rasped, "kill me, then. Kill me, and end my misery. My clanmates will vote you out."

"Not so fast!" The killer sneered. "They don't even suspect me. They all suspected poor Mothwing, who was innocent. You're just an old cat. It won't hurt the Clan."

"Each clanmate is useful!" The she-cat snapped, but before any cat could wake up, the killer slapped a paw on the she-cat's muzzle.

"Some..." The killer mused quietly. "I'll keep that in mind."

Then silently, the killer snapped the she-cat's neck.
