Chapter 31
Trent
My wolf growled pacing around my head as the display was ending.
I looked around the field and almost winced at the sight. The demons were all gone and any of their bodies were now ash, blood stained the grass along with some body parts. Those demons were ruthless, I looked around to see pack members being helped some of them hopefully unconscious I heard the cries of some as most lost their mates.
‘What’s your problem’ I growled out as my wolf continued to pace growling now and then making me on edge.
‘Mate mine’ he growled possessively while I frowned in confusion, Violet?
I looked around and began to panic when I saw Violet nowhere in sight and my wolf wasn’t helping. ‘Mate mine’ He growled as he fought for control.
What’s with him?!
I sighed in relief when I saw Violet appear from the edge of the forest her katana in hand and something else, however before I could see it glowed before disappearing thought I caught sight of red.
My wolf took the opportunity of my distraction and took control of me. Marching towards Violet he growled pulling her into him burying his nose into her hair.
“Mine” he muttered breathing her scent in.
‘What are you doing’ I screamed from the back of my mind as I got over the shock.
‘Something you are too afraid to do, she is mine and no one else’s’ He growled the last part his grip on Violet getting stronger as I watched and fought for control still confused.
Honestly what’s with him?
My wolf calmed as he inhaled her scent and I took the opportunity to regain control.
I sighed in content feeling the sparks before I was pushed away. “Are you calm now?” She spoke emotionlessly making my wolf whimper.
“Uh yeah” I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly and almost whimpered with my wolf as I saw her relax at my answer.
“Good” She walked away this time making me whimper.
She paused as she and Alayna made eye contact before looking away and round the field.
“Great a funeral to plan” She muttered before stalking away. Avoiding all eye contact with Alayna who was staring at her with worry and disappointment.
Ok well that weird.
‘Clean this up’ I linked my members ‘and get the bodies ready for the viewing’
‘Alpha, some of the bodies are in pieces or missing some pieces’ a member linked me making me wince at the statement.
‘Just get all you can’ I sighed. Who knew demons were so vicious, Violets training didn’t compare to the real thing.
I shook my head getting rid of my thought. ‘And make sure to keep an eye on the mates to those who have died’
I sighed and turned towards the pack house. Violet is right though we have a big funeral to plan.
I’m in charge of the place and time along with the preparations such as the preachers and the burial sites, Alayna was in charge of the food and decoration while Violet was in charge of the bodies.
This should take about two days or so from what I saw.
I sighed getting out of the shower before going to bed blocking out today’s events I fell into a deep sleep.
-------
I groaned as I felt something hit my face.
“Dude seriously you sleep like a rock” I heard someone complain before I was pushed.
I growled startled when I hit the floor to see Luke in front of me his hands up in surrender mode.
I raised an eyebrow, so he’s talking to me now?
Luke barely spoke to me unless he needed to ever since our little talk guess I deserved it.
Luke put his hand out clearing his throat “You need to get ready for work alpha, you have a funeral to plan” With that he walked out, see what I mean?
I groaned getting up from the floor before getting ready.
------
I walked into the kitchen to find the pack members silently eating. Guess yesterday’s events are still fresh in their minds. I sat at the table getting the plate that was ready for me.
My head snapped up as I smelled her alluring scent as most of the males in the kitchen making me almost growl. What the heck is she wearing!
I felt my eyes go black with lust as she drunk from a bottle of water. Her tank top went up a little while her shorts rode up a little as she tilted her head up. I gulped as I watched her drink from the bottle her mouth around the top. I’m getting a little excited right now.
“Violet Scarlett” A voice snapped me out of my excited thoughts along with some other males.
I looked towards the former alphas of the Dark Moon pack. Merideth and Alpha Stone.
“What have we told you about roaming the pack house in your sleepwear young lady” Merideth scolded while Violet grumbled under her breath.
This was amusing, the big bad Violet getting scolded.
“At least it wasn’t my undergarments this time” She mumbled making all of us freeze as my blood rushed south. Oh god, am I ever going to get this picture out of my head.
“Violet” Merideth called out.
Violet looked around seeing our shocked faces some blushing with visible boners.
“Oops did I say that out loud” She raised an eyebrow not even embarrassed.
‘I wonder if she could be that fierce in bed’ my wolf growled in desire conjuring up images. I’m going to have to sit down for a while.
“Just go change Violet” Stone sighed.
“But I’m comfortable” Violet whined making me think how she would be if she whined and begged for me to take her. Oh god.
“Violet!” Merideth snapped making Stone groan.
“Alight alright” Violet rolled her eyes and went to walk out of the room but paused at the entrance.
“You guys might want to sit down for a while” Violet smirked walking out.
“Men these days” I heard her sigh. Many of the males blushed and tried to subtly sit down.
‘Mine’ my wolf growled fighting for control to beat those who dared stared and got excited. As much as I would love to I need my pack members in good conditions.
There was an awkward silence before Stone cleared his throat. “Well-“
He was cut off by a familiar unwanted voice.
“Good morning” Paige sang out. She looked around glancing at the guys. “my my, I barely entered and you’re all already ready for me” She winked my way making me shudder in disgust.
She sure knows how to make a boner go away. I looked around to see some of the guys staring at her in disgust all excitement gone while a couple of men whores were turned on.
Ever since that night, Paige barely spoke to me unless she was flirting with me or other guys trying to make me jealous failing horribly.
What really disgusts me is how she’s acting when we just attacked yesterday and lost many, most of them in our pack.
“I’m surprised you’re still alive after yesterday” I heard someone comment from behind her and saw Violet putting her hair into a ponytail.
“Just shows how great I am” Paige flipped her hair.
“Yes so great that you’re not even mourning for the lost members, especially the ones from you’re pack.” Violet raised an eyebrow at Paige who stared at her indifferently.
“Well they were weak” Paige huffed, I growled along with most wolves at her comment making her jump a little.
“Are you sure you’re not a demon yourself” Violet tilted her head.
“Like you’re not one” Paige sneered at her.
“Touché” She shrugged before walking pass her drinking her coffee as if nothing happened. She didn’t even deny Paige’s statement?
‘At least she’s honest with herself.’ My wolf spoke. I guess.
I watched as Paige huffed grumbling before walking out of the kitchen but not without sending a wink my way.
That girl really doesn’t understand never going to happen does she?
‘Why do you think her IQ is 1.1’ my wolf snorted.
‘I thought it was because she too busy sleeping around?’ I raised an eyebrow.
‘That too, I think she’s trying to learn something from it thought’ He chuckled while I frowned in confusion.
‘What can she possibly learn from that?’
‘Remembering names and possibly spell them if she learns how to open her legs less’ He snickered while I tried to muffle my laugher.
I heard someone choke and looked towards Violet to see her hitting her chest. I raised an eyebrow, Is she mind dropping me?
“I have bodies to look over” She muttered before walking out bumping into Alayna.
“Violet-“She tried to grab her but Violet avoided her “Not now Alayna” She nodded towards everyone in the kitchen.
Alayna sighed watching her sister walk away grumbling somewhere things. She made eye contact with me, looking at me with the identical eyes of Violet with more light and emotions within them. I almost flinched at the reminder of what I’ve caused.
I looked away getting up “I have a funeral to get ready.” I muttered before walking out.
---------------
I sighed as I entered my room falling onto my bed head first.
I had so much work and paper work, renting a place for the funeral, the burials and the headstones.
At least I got to work with Violet on the burial sites and headstones. Working with her I couldn’t help but feel she was different, she was usually stiff and moody but she was a little relaxed and not so moody, she even smiled once or twice and not out of sarcasm. My wolf growled as I was thinking that but I just ignored him. He’s been moody the whole time, I have no idea why.
I’m a little weird out. Especially since Alayna was also acting weird when we were picking the location for the design. She looked worried and annoyed, especially whenever we bumped into Violet.
Ah hell, I’m just going to sleep on it, I’m so tired. I yawned went to sleep.
------------- 2 days later
“We have gathered here today to say farewell to our fallen members” The preacher I chose spoke as cries and screams of despair filled the air.
Right now I am attending the funeral along with everyone else. If you ask me that’s the worst thing an alpha has to go through.
No matter who dies the alpha is expected to stay strong to reassure pack members. I remember when my mom died, my father was quiet all throughout the funeral his face blank keeping himself together. It wasn’t before after the funeral he burst and turned our house upside down in a fit of sorrow and rage. It was the most horrible thing a 13 year old had to witness and I still have the scars.
I understand where he’s coming from though, it was his mate he lost. I don’t understand how others think he could stay strong and be able to keep it together, but I guess it’s the reassurance they need that their pack isn’t doomed.
I guess in a way they seek strength from their alpha. However even the strongest can be weak.
I stared at the many faces visible from the coffins. Violet did an awesome job, some of the bodies you can’t even tell they were in pieces and they were pampered and dressed in the clothe the family provided along with the coffins Violet picked out with the help of the families. She must have been busier than me getting them looking like they weren’t mauled, getting the files and wills in order picking clothes and coffins along with the burial sites. There were 37 people that died, eight of them from injuries at the pack hospital.
Nonetheless she looks beautiful sitting next to me her face passive as the funeral went on.
-----------
I sighed as I watched pack members interact each other saying a couple of words to the victims’ families.
You could clearly identify who their mates were. Their lifeless eyes they were barely aware of what was going on around them.
I felt sadness as I watched their friends and families tried to get them to respond.
“You should just kill them you know” I jumped at her voice and snapped my head to my side to see her leaning against the wall drinking from a glass.
“Wait what?” I asked stunned as what she said sinker in, she couldn’t be as heartless to kill her own members would she?
She stood up straight walking towards me.
“You should just kill them” she shrugged before she stood by me looking where I was before towards one of my pack members. She used to be so bubbly, not even Paige could do anything about it.
“They obviously have nothing more to live for with their mates gone. We would be doing them a favor” She sighed the last part. I can’t believe it.
“Are you actually that heartless? You can’t just kill your own pack members, their mates may be gone but they still have their family and friends” I spoke to her harshly but I didn’t care how she can just speak of killing them at all.
Violet just laughed humorlessly “Look around alpha, it doesn’t seem like it does it. Not even their friends or family can even trigger a spark of life in them” I looked round and saw the ones that lost their mates staring at nothing with no life in their eyes some silently crying while their families tried to get their attentions. One of them was being force fed as she resisted.
“Losing a mate” I turned back to Violet who stared ahead blankly. “Losing a mate, the pain is much worst then being rejected by them” I winced she said that but she didn’t notice as she continues on.
“When you’re rejected you still have hope or vengeance. Either way you’re mate is alive and well although some can’t take the pain and kill themselves, actually it takes great will to go after rejection.” She chuckled humorously making me wince, she went through way worst then that, all because of me.
“But when you lose your mate you have no hope, because their long gone. They got to meet and actually love their mates, the pain of losing them is much more painful.” She sighed. “It takes a lot more will to keep going to rid of the suicidal thoughts and the ‘what ifs’ along with your wolfs cries of pain and sorrow from their lost” As she explained I saw her look towards something and followed her line of sight to see Derek and Maya.
I instantly felt guilty. We made Maya the omega after Violet left and the pack house was in havoc. We never knew what she was going through when her mate died.
“Give them one week” I snapped out of my thoughts and looked towards Violet.
“Huh?”
“One week. We’ll see if they have the will to keep living, if they kill themselves don’t stop them. Kill them if they lose control over their wolves however, we have enough problems as it is and we don’t need any more rogues.” Violet turned towards me. That seems good enough.
Violet went to walk away but stopped midway. “I’m not as heartless as you think you know. Anyone else would have used their grief and anger to turn them into a killing machine” With that she walked away leaving me in shock.
Maybe there is hope for her.
----------------------------------------------
Trent is really…..
I have no words but he seriously doesn’t try to look into his wolfs and Violet and Alayna’s behavior after that battle.
I swear if someone in his pack was acting weird and would take over his pack he wouldn’t notice.
Anyway, what do you think?
I thought we needed some of Trent’s POV
Anyway, wish me luck on the wattys
Update next week
Till then
Peace out
