The Dream Walker

Author: celeste1

Genre: Fantasy

What I liked about this book:

The first chapter has some very promising close POV, in-the-character's-head sort of stuff. It works because the character is drifting in and out of consciousness, and it works very well. It feels detached and confused, sort of vague, the character has no memory and does not know who she is. This fits that chapter perfectly.

What I did NOT like about this book:

It didn't fit ANYTHING else for the rest of the book. What we got were long diatribes of dialogue with no dialogue tags interspersed with description, and then occasionally big monologues that were in italics for some reason. I didn't like it at all.

Eight chapters in and I still don't know what's going on. They're in some kind of compound? Some dude named Loren showed up? It's all very confusing, no one has any personality, and the entire thing has horrible white room syndrome.

There's not even enough here for me to say the premise is decent, because it's so poorly done I honestly have no idea what it's supposed to be.

Overall:

I hated this book.

Rating:

1/10. I have no idea what's even going on here. This might get better if there were more than eight chapters, but if not for the review I would not have read this far.
