What I liked about this book:

Parts of Michael's point of view toward the very, very beginning of the book were very relatable. He's new, he's lonely, and he wants a friend.

What I did NOT like about this book:

You should ask yourself, when you write fanfiction, if the person you're writing about is a real person, and if it would freak them the fuck out if they read what you are writing. In this case, the answer is yes.

This book has no pacing. Instead of giving us any subtle hints toward the love triangle between Callum and Michael, the author writes it on a brick and smacks us in the face with it. This is my least favorite thing. This book has a bunch of my other least favorite things, too.

Michael's prose sometimes seemed genuine until I realized he was talking in what looked suspiciously like song lyrics. I didn't bother to google any of them because I'm lazy, but none of it sounded like real dialogue.

Anastasia and Michael are friends within 2.5 seconds of meeting one another, despite the fact that Michael outright states that he is an asshole who doesn't want any friends. Michael then text bombs Anastasia and invites himself over to her house, which is creepy. He texts her at inopportune times, follows her around, and inserts himself into her life in a way that is honestly off putting and invasive. I cannot root for him.

Callum is a typical nice guy who Anastasia owes nothing to, and they seem to be friends just for the purpose of Callum getting down her pants later. Ick.

At the end of the book, Michael threatens to kill himself because he sees Anastasia kissing another guy. This is so manipulative. Actually, this behavior is abuse. Tip to anyone reading: if your SO threatens to kill themselves because of a breakup, they are manipulating you. LEAVE THEM. Then call them professional help.

This is terrible, and has all my least favorite tropes.

Overall:

Bad writing, and awful plot. Bad example to young people.
