What I liked about this book:

The idea here was nice, like so many are. A teenage wizard, about to go to Hogwarts, who is also interested in science and chemistry. This had so much potential as a plot.

What I did NOT like about this book:

There is no plot. I can't actually tell if this is crackfic or not, actually. For some reason the parents are with all the kids on the train to Hogwarts, and the author has missed that Slytherin was never actually an evil house in canon. I think the character's parents are Fleur and Bill Weasley, which is at least canon.

This doesn't explain why the main character speaks with a heavy French accent. They don't live in France. Bill is English. And writing out accents is like, my single least favorite thing in the entire world. It felt like I was reading Dexter's Lab meets Harry Potter, and was funny in a really uncomfortable, unpleasant way.

None of the paragraphs are more than one or two lines long, and the entire thing is flooded with dialogue. I never have any idea of where the characters are in space or why, which makes it very hard to get a good handle on the plot.

I had high hopes for this, but it was messy.

Overall:

Not fun to read.

Another 3/10 that is begging for a rewrite.
