LUCY

Author: philosophique

Genre: Action

What I liked about this book:

I can see political drama here, in the way the soldiers are chasing down the page in the beginning and in Nelson's description of his day. I like political dramas, and I like that this book is blending medieval fantasy elements with sci-fi.

What I did NOT like about this book:

This book is WAY too dense. It's like going to take a bite out of a piece of cake and being met with a block of wood someone painted to look like cake. My teeth hurt now. There is far too much description, all of it is really purple, and not enough going on. As a result I don't feel any attachment to the prose and had a really, really hard time getting through it in general.

Reading this was a chore. I understand that there's something going on with the page and the people in the first interlude chapter, something highly political in nature. But it's so slogged down in unimportant details that I can't for the life of me figure out what it actually is.

There are only five chapters of this posted, and thank GOD because it took me about a week to read.

You aren't being paid by the word. Pare this the hell back.

Overall:

Honestly? I'd start over.

Rating:

2/10. I could barely get through it even if the idea itself holds promise.
