Killing in Teams
Author: jaxmayflower
Genre: Fantasy
What I liked about this book:
The writing here isn't as terrible as I'd expect from this kind of book. It was readable. Most of the chapters were fairly short, and a lot of it was amusing--though probably not in the way the author wanted or intended.
What I did NOT like about this book:
I don't know what's the worst thing about this book.
Is it that this book is a blatant hunger games ripoff? Is it that Kiara was sent on the good-kids field trip for bad behavior with no explanation? Is it Kiara's super overblown attachment to her boyfriend and want to move in with him at 14? Is it that they are taken to the kill-each-other game with absolutely no explanation?
I'm honestly not sure. This is amusingly poorly thought-out logically. There's no explanation as to what happens when or why, it just does, and there's a lot of interlude chapters that have absolutely nothing to do with the plot.
Why do all these fourteen year olds have so much time to think about who they want to make out with if they're supposed to be literally killing one another?
I'm just. Confused. I feel kind of empty after reading this.
Overall:
Lol
Rating:
1/10. I think you're young. Try writing outside the YA genre for a while or scrapping and rewriting this in 4-5 years.
