Genre: Paranormal...I think?

What I liked about this book:

It was only 8 chapters long and most of the chapters were short. Some of the descriptions were nice.

What I did NOT like about this book:

It always confuses me when a character is running for their lives through the woods and they have time to comment on the scenery. This one commented on how baroque (???) the trees are and how beautiful everything is even as her feet were bruising.

This book read so much like word salad that I honestly have no idea what it's even about, other than a woman in the woods who's got magical creatures about her who seem to grant her life force when she gets into a pond. There is a ton of big vocabulary words that are mostly used incorrectly littered throughout the prose.

Nothing in this book seems connected to itself either. The entire thing has horrible white room syndrome, and we just sort of flit around aimlessly from the woods to a dream scene to the main character lying on the ground in a gypsy dress.

Like I said I'm having trouble even parsing this one.

Overall:

Confusing mess.

1/10, I can't even really tell what this book is supposed to be about.
