Who's Laughing Now
Author: thegirlytomboy
Genre: Romance
What I liked about this book:
Everyone who isn't Reid. The reasons for this will be explained in a minute.
Emily has the potential to be interesting, as do Andrew and Kevin, though since this book only has three chapters, it's far too early for me to say much.
The text is readable and clear, and the plot so far is easy to decipher. The writing didn't drag and I wasn't confused at any point about where anyone was or what was going on.
What I did NOT like about this book:
Reid. He is such a massive jerk that I just wanted to punch him through all three of these chapters. He's a jerk to his assistant who is supposedly his best friend. He is a jerk to Andrew, who is his school buddy. He's a jerk to Kevin, his rival.
But worst of all, he's a jerk to the bartender at the event they're at. If you're a jerk to service workers, I have no time for you. And for that reason (combined with all the other times Reid was a jerk), I have absolutely zero sympathy for him. He comes off as a narcissistic asshole who I have no desire to get to know.
There are also a ton of typos and some repetitive sentence structure. This book desperately needs a proofreader, although surprisingly it wasn't terribly difficult or draggy to read.
Overall:
I might hateread this if I'm bored. I dislike the main character that much and we're on chapter three. Otherwise it doesn't have much to offer.
Rating:
3/10. It wasn't torture, and wasn't the worst thing in this book. Like I said, I'd probably hateread this if I had nothing better to do, then wind up disappointed because bad things aren't happening to the jerk protagonist.
