The Faerie Pact

Author: pepsi_panda

Genre: Fantasy

What I liked about this book:

The fact that it is not a glorified romance novel. In fact there doesn't seem to be any real strong romance arc right now, which is nice. There is a lot of nice character depth, and although the hero's quest has been done a million times, the plot itself is pretty well thought out.

The world of the Fae is so well developed I can see it, so good job on the worldbuilding too.

What I did NOT like about this book:

The writing here is not strong enough to prop up this well-done plot. If I see 'seemed to' one more time I'm gonna scream. Things either are or they aren't, and overall the writing is just very telly.

I was confused as to where I was and how I'd gotten there at many points, though briefly enough I can't think of a specific example. It was enough to annoy me, though.

I'd cut the plot with Wisp and Alleanie, the plot the author already had going was strong enough and it did not need to be there. It muddied things. It's going to make the book twice as long as it needs to be, and traveling to her world bored me. I finished, but this is the spot where I started to lose interest in the book.

This is a good effort but needs a TON of editing.

Overall:

First drafty with some great potential.

Rating:

5/10. It needs a *lot* of polish but I can see it being really good once that's done.
