Saving Sutton

Author: bittersweetwriting

Genre: Chicklit/Contemporary

What I liked about this book:

The story could have been really interesting had it been written differently. I think some of the description was nice.

What I did NOT like about this book:

This book bored me from the opening, which was three paragraphs about random shops which connected with absolutely nothing else in the story. Then Sutton randomly has a flashback, which isn't led up to in any way so it kind of feels like being hit in the head with a baseball bat, and I have an emotional connection to nothing which makes me not care about it.

Sutton's only personality trait is 'rape victim'. There is nothing about her otherwise that is remarkable. I have no idea what she likes or feels, or her opinions on anything other than Noah (good) or having  been raped (bad). There's no subtlety or depth to anything.

No one else has any personality to speak of, not even Noah who is pretty important to the plot, and the entire thing lacks structure. And if you're gonna write a book about a touchy subject like this, don't center the MC's entire personality around the fact that she's been raped.

Overall:

Dislike

Rating:

1/10. Trite, boring, and vaguely offensive. I don't like books like this.
