I Love You to the Moon and Back
Author:
Genre: Teen Fiction
What I liked about this book:
The use of media was creative, and the main character does have a really identifiable voice. I spent the entire book wondering how much of the chameleon stuff was real and how much of it was just in her head.
What I did NOT like about this book:
This book is EXTREMELY disorganized. The subject matter wanders, from the MC's present to her diary to school to twitter, and back and forth again with no discernible pattern. The subject matter does the same. As a result, it's extremely hard to figure out what I should be focused on, or what the book is even really about.
I also expected MC to leave her regular life at some point, but she really never did. There were long paragraphs given to what she was wearing and what's inside her room with a ton of pictures, but none of it really meant anything.
Even the twitter war toward its current end was uninspiring and honestly just kind of confusing.
The author needs to figure out what she's writing a book about, and write that book, rather than just jotting down any idea that comes into her head and sounds okay. Right now this is a collection of ideas with no plot.
Overall:
Challenging to read.
Rating:
2/10. It has no focus. I can't even really tell what it's supposed to be about.
