Birthright
**TRIGGER WARNING** The book in question is about some very visceral horror involving a cult. I recommend that readers who are sensitive don't read the book, though I am not going to mention many details as they would spoil.
Author: IanRCooper
Genre: Horror
What I liked about this book:
I absolutely loved this story.
It tells us the tale of a farmhand living in the 1800s, sometime shortly after the Civil War. We quickly find out that he's part of a cult, and that his family believes in some dodgy things. But that's not the half of it. You don't find out the true horror of the situation until the last few chapters, which were written so viscerally it made me sick to my stomach.
This doesn't belong on Wattpad, it belongs in a horror anthology somewhere, probably with very minor changes that mostly have to do with proofreading.
The structure was well-done, and books that swap back and forth between timelines are incredibly hard to write. This is also one of the best-foreshadowed pieces I have ever come across on Wattpad. Truly it is a fantastic piece.
What I did NOT like about this book:
The book broke content guidelines. It did it in such a way that I don't necessarily agree that it was *wrong*, but it broke content guidelines. I PMed the author to discuss this, because he needs to change a very minor detail of that chapter in order for it to not break content guidelines anymore. The chapter in question was gross, but it was unquestionably intended to be. Those that read will be able to find it.
Overall:
This is fantastic. Get it off Wattpad and into a journal somewhere, because it doesn't belong here and this is the wrong audience for it.
Rating:
10/10. Any suggestions I had to make on this mainly had to do with spelling/grammar. It's extremely well-done.
