Pourmesomelove

Karen, from CLN, had the honor of interviewing an amazing author, pourmesomelove She is the author of several books on Wattpad including Incognito, Ivy and The One Who Got Away.

It is a pleasure to be able to interview you. What name or pen name would you like to go by?

Angel

It's very nice to meet you, Angel. When did you write your first story and what made you want to start writing?

I wrote my first story at the age of ten. I'm not sure if there was a reason for me to start, but I remember hoarding notebooks so I could write in them. And since then, I've only grown to love it more. Now, I want to write books with subplots about world problems and such. My drive is Injustice at the moment. As well as lack of diversity

It's great that you started writing at a young age. Your drive for wanting to write about world problems is inspiring to me, besides writing about world problems, what genres do you write and why did you choose those genres?

I write young adult fiction. Even when I don't mean to. The closest to that is teen fiction, and I write that too. I tried my hands at horror/thriller as well. I write teen fiction because I'm writing about the life of the Teenager. The last one I wrote (still ongoing) is about a depressed teenage girl and the traditional love interest. As for my YA, it just happens because all my female MCs end up being university students.

Teen fiction and young adult are my favorite genres to read. What do you think makes your stories different from others?

There isn't a lot of diversity on Wattpad if I'm being honest. So, I strive to make my books as diverse as possible. In my latest YA, I used characters from different places (Ireland, Britain, India...etc.). So, I think that counts for something. And my plot isn't based on the two MCs meeting and getting together - their relationship is a subplot and it's only there because of readers who might want to ship them.

It's wonderful that you are trying to make your books as diverse as possible. I'm sure your readers appreciate it too. How many books have you written so far, and which one was the hardest to write?

I've written seven on Wattpad, although three are still ongoing. The hardest to write would be "Incognito" because I'm trying to write in third person limited, but I keep switching to omniscient. But that aside, it's fun and it's my favorite work right now! Probably because I dedicate all my time to it. Plus, there's the dilemma of American and British English, but I speak British English and am familiar with American, but it can get confusing.

'Incognito' sounds like a very interesting book and I look forward to reading it. What inspired you to write it?

Mmm, I was going on with my day when the title dropped in my head, because I'm always thinking about book plots and this one fits the plot. So, I looked up the meaning to be sure, and I rolled with it. Because my MC, Emery, was wrongly accused of a murder and she had to leave her home and hide her identity. So, I thought it was a good enough title and it stuck.

That sounds like a fun way to come up with a title and it seems to fit your story perfectly. Do you relate to any of the characters and in which way?

Actually, I relate to most of them in little ways. Emery's probability to run away from her problems is something I do. Irene is African and I am too. Not much there. I think I made Hugo British because I talk in a British accent sometimes and Dee is naturally fun and helpful, though kind of violent. Not a lot of relation there. I relate to Emery most.

That's really cool how you have a small piece of you in each of your characters. Speaking of characters, do you have a favorite one and what makes that character special to you?

I like Emery's younger brother, Covin because he's that kind of cheery outgoing person, but because of his much I relate to Emery, I'd pick her as my favorite any day. Also, she is full of surprises. I think that'll come in handy if I want to add any plot twists. I like her because of her unpredictability

Covin sounds adorable and Emery must be a fun character to write with her being full of surprises. A problem that most writers have at one time or another is writer's block. How do you overcome writer's block?

Since I started writing Incognito, I haven't encountered writer's block. I'd call myself lucky, but I know it's because I jumped right into it. My other YA, "Fly Away" took me forever to write because of constant writer's block.

That's great that everything has been flowing smoothly for you with 'Incognito'! What would you say your strengths and weaknesses are in writing?

My main weakness is world building. I feel like I don't go in depth with my descriptions. As for strengths, character development. I realized that there are little changes in my characters behavior that become very obvious in the end.

I'm convinced my readers don't know what my character looks like

Sometimes it's better for the readers to not know what the characters look like so they can imagine then how they want to see them. The Crazy Late Nighters' mascot is a Lynx because it is nocturnal like our members. If you could choose a nocturnal animal to be, which one would you choose?

Foxes

That is an exciting choice. As it says in our name, we are night people. Would you consider yourself a day or night person?

I'm an all day person - if that's a thing. I'm almost always awake, so I fall under both categories.

Most of your members in CLN don't sleep so I fully understand you. What authors have inspired you to write?

JK Rowling Stephen King Sidney Sheldon - that's only a few off Wattpad Isabelle Ronin (because I want my book to be published someday) Autheras Sarena_a - among others.

I love JK Rowling. I myself am a big Harry Potter fan. I know you are a writer on Wattpad, is there anything else you do on Wattpad?

I read, obviously, and I have helped some people edit in the past. I have also been an awards judge and done some reviewing... I also have a graphic shop.

You are a person of all trades basically. What advice would you give new writers who are just starting out?

I would tell them to keep going and not back down. Your first work won't be perfect - I've written how many books and I'm still not good - don't delete it, don't feel insecure. Uncertainty is normal, mad it's okay to get it wrong the first time. Your first work is as bad as it gets, you'll improve. And most importantly, write what you want and feel comfortable with. Who cares if someone doesn't like your style?

That is great advice and something that new writers and those who have been writing for a while should take. Why is reading and writing important?

According to Stephen King, if you don't have the time to read, then you don't have the tools to write. If you want to write, you have to read. And writing isn't necessarily important as it's not a necessity, but if you want to write, then write. If for nothing, for the purpose of expression To be a good writer, you have to be a reader. Writing is a means of expression for people like me who suck with verbal communication. For some people, it's an escape means. In everything, it's art. And art is good

Writing is an escape for many. How do you feel when someone votes or comments on your stories?

It's like I'm on cloud nine. I absolutely love getting comments and I always look forward to them! But for some reason, my readers enjoy being silent.

Hopefully you'll get many new readers with this interview and they will vote and comment on your stories. I have one last question for you. If you could have everyone's attention in the world to say something important, what would you say?

I would probably make a speech, but if I didn't have time, I'd say: just do it! Because I like Nike

Simple and sweet. Thank you so much, Angel, for allowing me to interview you. CLN and the entire Lynx pack appreciate you taking the time out of your day for this.
