nnaj2004

Sapphire, from CLN, had the pleasure of interviewing an amazing author, nnaj2004  Nuna is the author of several books on Wattpad including I'll Steal You From Dad, The only one for me and several more.

So let me introduce myself first. I am Sapphire, one of the interviewers from the Crazy Late Nighters Community. InfinityLM44 nominated you to be interviewed. What pen name would you like to go by?

You can call me Nuna :-)

Such an adorable name! Okay Nuna, when did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?

To be honest, I never wished to be a writer. I wanted to be a video editor but my skills were just not good enough... that's why I interpret everything into a story. I started to feel like writing a story after I watched some fan made videos on YouTube.

Oh so instead putting your thoughts into videos, you decided to write it instead? And may I ask what is in the fan made videos that inspired you into making stories?

Yup. I poured all of my ideas into words. Some fan made videos of Xiao Zhan and Yibo from Channel NodeZero on YouTube. It had some manga that I read, so I combined both of them and made it into a story.

That is creative, I must say. Considering that one of your fans nominated you to be interviewed, I guess your talent and skills in writing is good! Well then, what is the first thing that comes into your mind whenever you decide to write a book?

I think my writing is just so-so. I still lack many things when it comes to writing. Whenever I want to write a book I think, 'are my readers gonna like this kind of story or genre?' And I also think about how I'm going to end the story. If I know how to start and how to end, only then will I write it.

That's so considerate of you to think of your readers and to think about what is suitable for them before writing your story. Going back to what you said before, you mentioned how you lacked many things when it came to writing. What are those things that you think you're lacking in?

I've been writing fanfic so far but never write my own original story or my own characters. One day, I want to create my own character. Besides, my vocabulary and range of knowledge is not that wide. I love historical stories but I could never write one because I don't know how to describe the environment and situations during those certain time periods.

And yes, I plan everything first because I'm afraid that I might suddenly lose the ideas on how to continue the story. I know how frustrating it is when I like a certain story, then the writer suddenly drops it. I just hate it and I don't want my readers to feel the same about my stories.

You're a really sweet person and you certainly will make your own characters someday. Don't give up with historical stories, even though they're a little hard to write, they are addicting to read!

My next question for you is: what are your ups and downs that you encountered when writing or just plainly you encountered as a writer and how did you get through it?

For the ups, I feel really happy when my stories receive good feedback.

For the downs, sometimes I feel kinda lost about where to continue my story or I have writer's block. I still force myself to write by rereading everything again to grasp the flow of the story.

Other than that, I have some impatient readers. I always tell my readers that I'm having an exam, or maybe I was busy but still some of them are forcing me to update. Most of the time I ignore it because some of my other readers will respond on my behalf.

Past few days, a reader commented on my story, saying that the situation in the story is poorly written and badly described. It makes him/her stop reading. I just replied, "up to u".

For me, I can't satisfy every single reader, but as long as there are many of them still supporting me, I'm happy to write more

How do you plan to deal with those comments in the near future if the same thing happens again?

I think I'll just ignore it but in case things get worse, I'll just report the comment or the account. At the same time, I'll try to ask my readers if they thought that part of the story was bad, and I'll try to fix it later on.

Yeah, I agree that's better than making yourself riled up for those kinds of things. As a writer, you can't let them get to you.

Now if there is one quality that stands out best when it comes to becoming a writer, what do you think it would be and why do you think that aspiring writers should acquire it?

SPECTACULAR IDEAS.

I mean, I really admire those writers that could write a story that is different from others, things like apocalypse, sci-fi, or building up an entire world from scratch. Readers are usually attracted to a story based on its plot. If it's cliche, they probably won't be interested. Readers are really attracted to unusual themes or genres.

I really wish I could have the quality to write anything I wanted, but I don't. I would need to do more research before I could write one.

I'm sure you will have that quality real soon, considering your growing passion for writing. Do you have a writing schedule? Like do you write once a week? Twice?

Nope. I write any time I'm free because I'm still a student at the moment so can't really fix a time to update. (If I don't have a test or assignments, then I will write.)

Hmmm, what about the ambience when you're writing? Do you prefer writing in places free from noise?

Nope. I can write anywhere, even in the middle of a crowd.

Wow, your concentration is no joke! What is the thing you loved the most when it comes to writing, and why?

I'm the type who -once I can focus on something- I won't notice other people or distractions.

When it comes to writing, I don't know why I find some kind of satisfaction. I manage to write everything how it appeared in my imagination and made it into a story. It's some kind of an indescribable feeling.

Since I was in school, I usually scored well in essay writing, but never once did I think that I be a fanfic writer.

I think most writers can relate to that feeling. My next question for you is: how do you come up with ideas for your story?

I read lots of manga and watch fan made videos. That's the only way to generate ideas (it's great inspiration).

What did you feel when you wrote your first book? Were you anxious? Happy?

I feel really nervous and scared. Nervous as in: 'what if, even after months, no one would read my story?' I also felt scared: 'What if people didn't like my story?'.

It surprised me so much that the feedback was so overwhelmingly positive. People keep saying they want more, and it makes me so happy

That is typical the first time around, but It gets a lot better as you go through. Other than writing, what are your other hobbies?

I'm a Kpoppers. So basically, I like to listen to Korean songs and watch anime. But definitely not romance. I prefer anime with a sports theme.

I like BTS! They're my favorite. And do you watch anime like Haikyuu?

Same! My bias is Jin! And I love Haikyuu so much!

Nice, we have a lot in common. My bias is Taehyung, but I also like Jin, because he can cook

Now getting back in the interview, what will your readers expect from you for your upcoming book, if you're planning to have one?

Something different from my current story. As I mentioned before, I want to try to create my own character, and that's what I'm going to do in my next work.

And have you planned what genre it will be?

I haven't decided on that yet.

Oh, it's okay you'll think of that soon enough. What is a peculiar or unusual fact about you that you would like your readers and fans to know?

Nothing unusual about me, I just want my readers to know that, even though I'm 24 years old this year, I have never been in love for real. I just don't want them to get their hopes up regarding romantic or love scenes in my story.

One more question: if you could convey a message to your readers and fans, what would you tell them?

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Thank you so much to all my readers that are always supporting me and have never missed any of my updates. I don't ask for much except for some encouraging comments and votes.

One more thing, please be reminded that authors are also human beings with many responsibilities. So, don't be mad at me if I'm a bit late with my updates.

By the way, do you like to have a message dedicated to InfinityLM44? They are the one who nominated you and the reason is because you're a really good author and you are their inspiration.

To InfinityLM44, thank you so much for nominating me. Thanks for considering that I'm a good author. Never crossed my mind that one day I was going to be an inspiration to someone else. Thanks once again. I hope someday, you also can become an inspiration for other people to write a great story. Love you!

Last question, you must have seen my pfp. It's a Lynx and actually the symbol for the CLN community. What is one characteristic of Lynx that you could relate to with our community?

Nocturnal?

Funny, but true. Well Nuna, thank you for dedicating your precious time for this interview. On behalf of the CLN community, we extend our deepest gratitude. Continue writing and give all your best for your avid readers out there! Until next time!

Alright. Thank you so much CLN Community. Thanks for having me. Until next time!
