LINALOUICE

Rae, from CLN's Vintage, had the chance to sit with the very fun and talented author, LINALOUICE. Lina is the author of Beyond The Mud, When Nightmares Come True - BJYX and many other stories on Wattpad

Hi! My name's Rae and I'll be interviewing you today from the Crazy Late Nighters Community; before we start I would just like to say thank you for accepting this offer.

Hello! I'm Lina. Thank you, Rae and the Phoenix, for having me.

Hello Lina, So let's get started with you telling us a little about yourself.

From species Homo Sapien, I'm Lina Louice. ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

I am an Artist by hobby and hopefully by profession too. I make comics

and write stories for pleasure.

Wow! That's nice to hear and I'm sure that you will achieve the profession you want. So how did you get interested in writing? What caught your attention and drew you to it?

Thank you, Rae! Hoping for the best. Well, when I was little, after watching movies, I would often think about what would happen after the Ending; especially if the movie didn't have a sequel. I would daydream about the possibilities and that led me

to draw comics and now stories. Of course, the story needs to have a strong impact on me to do that.

That's so nice to hear! Often I myself wonder about my favourite characters and what happens to them later in the future. What was the movie or book that had the biggest impact on you? That made you feel the need to pick up your pencil and just draw or write something?

For the drawings, I just doodle whatever. It mostly depends on my moods and emotions. Other times, if I am not really satisfied with a story, I'd urge myself to make a comic so my heart would settle at least. Like in Big Hero 6, (Spoiler Alert!) Tadashi Hamada dies taking my heart with him T_T. So, I came up with a comic where Hiro Hamada finds him again.

There are many inspirations for drawings but for the writing, it was Modaozushi; a Chinese novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. The story is marvellous but there are just so many questions that I wanted to be answered. I went through all of their interviews to satisfy my curiosity but there were still many mysteries left to be solved. Like what is the name of Lan Wangji's bunnies? Frustrated, I decided to fill in those blanks and thus came my first complete work 'Beyond the Mud'. I tried my best to connect the dots, link the characters while keeping their personality in line with the original author's work. It was hard, but I enjoyed it a lot.

You seem very passionate about what you like, that's one amazing quality you have and personally I loved Big Hero 6 and I really cried at that one (and many) moment(s).

So, are most of your characters taken/inspired by other fictional characters or do you make your own characters from time to time? If yes are they inspired by someone or do you completely make them up in your mind?

I feel you T_T. Mostly I contribute to fandoms by making comics or writing stories. But I do have my original comics and story (It's in process though). The first story that I started (actually) writing was 'The One I Need'. I had no intention to publish it, I was writing it for the sake of gathering the plot because you wouldn't believe it, my memory sucks (So much so, that I forget my own character names XD).

I started writing it so when I draw, it would be easier for me to remember.

The characters in that story are all based on my imagination – an image of love which I wanted to relay to myself. Spoiler Alert: it's a tragedy XD

As for my other story 'The Five Petals', half characters are based on my best

friends while the other half are imaginary, fitting to the personalities of

my friends. That's just my way of teasing my friends if they (ever) get a lover, it would be like this XD.

Hahahahaha yes, I can totally imagine myself making characters just to tease my friends and forgetting their name too!! XD. That's a wonderful way to go about with planning a book ; Write, then draw and personally I'm a sucker for Tragedy books.

While planning a book, how do you come up with the plot? Do you make it on spot or first plan everything and then start the writing process?

Fist bump to all Tragedy suckers There's a place for all of us! ┬┴┬┴┤ ͜ʖ ͡°) ├┬┴┬┴

*Clears throat* It's time to confess my deepest secret.

*Deep breath* I don't think of the plot until I have already written/drawn 5 or 6 chapters.

*Successfully doges the slipper* Listen to me first! Thank you...

Ahem, so, as an Artist, I don't do thinking (Artist don't think, they vision.) I just go with the flow, displaying all of my feelings. When an idea pops up, I immediately jot it down. I don't really think much at first. Buttttt, after 5 to 6 chapters, (sometimes even more) I look back and think, "It's time to seriously consider a plot now." And from there on, I start putting serious efforts. Going back to chapters and trying to figure out how the hell do I make sense of the mess I created without thinking... It's a serious pain I tell you.

You can't imagine my face when one of my readers commented something

along the lines of, "I really like your story, it is so well planned." If only you knew dear, if only you knew. Sorry for any sort of disappointments (Not sorry really), but that's just how my mind functions, I need to give myself a sort of pressure to work better.

Otherwise, I would never get things done.

But when I plan, I go in depth. I put a lot of research in each chapter. Even the smallest detail matters to me. You know, in movies when they say, "Do not try this at home." But kids still try that at home? Yeah that? It's not me. But I have seen people who do that. And even growing up, there were many facts which I learnt solely from watching these stories and so I'm keener on giving as accurate information as possible. Just in case, if some brave idiot, attempts the impossible (▰˘◡˘▰)

Wow, I can honestly relate to that a lot, as a dancer I mostly don't think when I dance, I just hear the song, feel the rhythm and move with it. Only difference is that you have a lot to consider while I really don't and could you please pass that slipper behind you ? I can hear someone behind me asking for it XD

From your above answer we can clearly see that you put a lot of consideration, time, energy, effort and dedication towards your books, so I want to ask you, What's your biggest support or inspiration that keeps you going whenever you feel like you're stuck in a "Writer's Block"?

OMG Rae!!!! A dancer!!! ( Let me admire you for 10 seconds please! ಥಥ) Do you know how beautiful they are!? How perfect their bodies are?! How much of a great reference they make for art?! Where can I sign up for Rae Fan club? (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞(Just curious, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. Is there something like Dancer's block? And what kind of Dance do you do?)

As for the slippers, 'finders' keepers. Buy a new one. Time's over, back to the question. I never had a writer's block lol. ¯_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/¯

I mean, I'm busy as it is. Would I waste the little time I get for writing on the writer's block? Really now? Even writer's block is sensible enough to not hit me. Good job! As for the inspiration, I am my own inspiration (Not being arrogant here). I started writing for myself. I am still writing for myself and will continue to write for myself. I mean, my neighbour didn't whisper in my ears to do so. I started doing it on my own accord, because something was bugging me, something felt out of place and I needed to satisfy my heart (Whether in Art or Writing).

Don't get me wrong, I genuinely appreciate the support my readers give me. They are like the beams of light in my path which I previously thought was shallow. And I can't thank them enough for it.

Thank you so much for the admiration, I really appreciate it, but not all dancers have the perfect body. Personally I've seen so many people with the moves that have blown my mind and none of them have the perfect body. The perfect body is just an illusion that many dancers try achieving when honestly it's not needed at all!! All we need is patience and the desire to want to dance... (and about that dancers block question, no, I haven't felt anything like that)

And It's amazing that you've never had a "Writer's Block"!! I can only imagine how happy your readers will be after reading this!! And good for you to write only for yourself!! Cause that's the only person who's expectations you should try fulfilling.

From your perspective, what scene would you consider the toughest to write ?

Every body is beautiful, that's the Art! ღƪ(ˆ◡ˆ)ʃ♡ƪ(ˆ◡ˆ)ʃ♪

From my perspective, the scene which I consider toughest is the one I haven't written.

No scene!! Wow, you must have writing come easily to you then!! Since there are no tough scenes, what scenes do you love writing?

Writing is not easy... What I meant was, all scenes are tough before you write it and once it's done, it's not anymore. Between you and me, I don't really like writing... (I feel like I am disappointing too many people lol). Sometimes I even wonder why am I even doing it? Then I tell myself, you're gathering the plot so you would be able to make a comic out of it later without forgetting the details.

Well as long as you write for yourself I think that's more than enough, you should only worry about meeting your own standards!!

From all of the characters you've written, which one do you relate the most too?

Yosh!! None, but at the same time, All. ԅ(≖⌣≖ԅ) They are products of my emotions after all.

Hahaha yes they certainly are!!! What was the biggest goal you've achieved in writing until now ?

Actually completing the stories. You know when they say, Don't press the button and you gotta press that button! Just reverse it.

Finish it! щ(゚Д゚щ)

Nah uh! ( ͡°³ ͡°)

I still have a painting I painted 2 years ago (incomplete) and it's never gonna be completed lol.

Hahahaha as a professional procrastinator I totally feel you, I myself always leave things to be done at the absolute last moment (and sometimes they just don't happen!!) which I know is a horrible habit and I'm trying really hard to change it, but only God knows if that'll really work XD. So what would you consider the most important part of a story when you write a book ?

Professional Procrastinator LMAO. The most important part of a story is, a sexy but educational Kink! (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)

(Hold it!!! If you throw your slippers, I'll collect them all and sell 'em at the flea market.)

What I mean is beep beep beep I'm beep beep beep coming beep beep go beep beep beep harder beep beep beep.

That wasn't so hard now, was it? Pat yourselves, Y'all! ♡(ŐωŐ人)

Wow... I- I'm speechless. Did you just threaten your fans saying that you're going to "beep beep beep and then beep beep beep coming beep beep go beep beep beep harder beep beep beep"???BAHAHAHAHA, don't worry, I'm sure they still love you!! Umm... hopefully. Anyways back to the question, What's tougher to plan; plot or character ?

Look at me ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ Do I look like someone who can threaten even a fly?

*proficiently slides the knife back in the pocket*

Anyways, as I have answered the previous question, "A valuable message should be the core of a story."

(Why are you looking at me like that? ಠಠ That's exactly what I said. *GASP* What did you read? Ya Pervs! ⚆⚆). And hence, the plot is tougher to plan.

Yes, sending a message is definitely... the core of the story and it's always harder than expected to get the point across. Now tell me, what's the most memorable thing you've learned while writing?

It was too memorable that I forgot. So, I learnt that I should eat more almonds. ('∀')

Hahahahaha I see! Anyways, this rather fun and wonderful session is unfortunately reaching to its end soon and I just wanted to ask what was the best thing that you liked about it?

Ma Mom! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(Lol jokes aside), Learning that you're a dancer. Because of Wang Yibo (Chinese God of Coincidence) I have new respect for dancers now.

Thank you so much, I'm really honoured and that was my favourite part too lol!! And now, before we part, is there something you would like to say to your readers and other inspiring authors?

(≖__≖) *intense gaze* I wanna ask my readers... How many slippers did ya loose?

Alright on a serious note, thank you for this wonderful opportunity Rae, and all the CLN community and thank you, little Hajabarbie (I like that name) for nominating me.

For inspiring authors, keep inspiring me. (I need your content to stay sane).

And to my lovely readers, I pity you! *Wipes away fake tears* I'm gonna torture you and myself till we squeeze out those happy endings.

Moral of the story : Always eat almonds.
