charislisa
Black Hole, from CLN, had the opportunity to sit down with a talented author, charislisa. She is the author of 'DREAMS'
Hi, my name is Black hole and I'm your interviewer from Crazy Late Nighters. What do you want to be called during this interview or by your readers? Your pen name or your real name or maybe just a name that you like.
Hello, Black hole!!! You can call me Lisa
Oh, Lisa is a pretty name. So, can you tell me something that you like the most in your book? Like if there's any character that you really like or a chapter or just an event that happened in it. What's your favourite part about it? I'm pretty sure we all want to know about that.
My favourite part of my book, Dreams, is the characters. My main character,-Noelle, Is an ordinary girl but behind the innocence of being ordinary. She deliberately walks through the Hall of Fame being popularly known as being a bully, a rude girl and church virgin.
But behind that rude girl suit she's an amazing daughter, kind sister, supportive friend and most importantly a lovely girlfriend. She's just a girl who wants to be loved, by the people she cares about.
And Imagine when, someone you actually care about betrays you!! It's actually devastating. Noelle is a character that I think many people will actually relate to. The emotions, pains, sorrow. Dreams is all about Noelle, the problems she faces as a teenager, the trouble of friendship. Noelle is just a girl who likes to Dream, but how can she dream when she doesn't have the ability to do so!!
Wow, that's actually pretty interesting.
Thanks
I think I even know a person like that. And I'm sure people will really like it. Also, what's the worst review you've ever gotten? And did you take it in a good way or did you get demotivated by it?
As funny as it sounds, I've never gotten a bad review on my book. Just helpful feedbacks on how to improve and so on.
That's really nice. Do you wish to get one though? Like it might help in letting you know about your mistakes.
And if I ever get a bad review. I think I'll take it in a good way. I'm not perfect and I make mistakes. And I learn everyday!!
Yes, because keeping to improve something is what makes it perfect.
But if it demotivates my spirit. Honestly I won't take it in a good way. No matter how someone's writing looks like we should always encourage them and one way we can do that is by our words. Fine words of motivation will go a long way. Trust me!!!
Yes I do, and I believe reviewers should keep that in mind. Do you want to give a review of your book? And a rating from 1 to 5 stars? As a reader though, not as a writer.
When you read your book yourself what came into your mind?
When I read my book the first thing that comes to my mind is, "Is this real, was I the one who wrote this? This is amazing!" I think every writer can relate to this.
I rate my book from 1-5, 3 stars. I'm an immature writer. And I try everyday to improve my writing skills.
You didn't believe your own writing? Well, why not 5 stars?
Sorry, it was Text error, I meant 4 stars.
Even then?
Well if my book should be rated 5 stars. I think it will be readers to decide not me. As a writer, I try every day on how to improve my writing skill. There's no day a writer stops learning. I believe in my writing so much!! If I don't I won't be here talking to you!! I can't say my book is 5 star yet because it is not perfect. And that is why I meet talented one's who've been on Wattpad for long. To give helpful feedbacks on how to improve my writing. As long as I keep learning I just can't view my story as 5 star yet. My readers can.
No, I meant as a reader, not as a writer. Why didn't you rate your book 5 stars as a reader? What do you think is keeping you from giving it 5 stars?
Okay as a reader I will give my book five stars. Because it's amazing. But as for me as a writer. I'll always like to make my story perfect. And that's why I keep on learning and improving. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
Yes I understand, you really like your book.
A writer will go to different lengths to make sure his/her story is perfect and spotless for the reader's sake
Have you told your friends or family about this story? What was their reaction?
Yes I've told my friends about my story. At first they were curious to know what I was writing. Some even doubted me. And I don't blame them. I haven't shared any of my work with them. Only to my parents.
But when they read my story. They were actually surprised. And it made my heart glad.
My mom always supported my work. She gave me new ideas for each chapter in my book. She is not only my mother but my best friend.
My brother too, also played a big role.
Oh, that's actually nice. Did you tell them about your story before you wrote it or after you published it on Wattpad?
When I was first writing the story. I told my closest best friend about it. And she really liked the idea. She chipped in some few ideas.
Aww, your best friend is pretty helpful. Did your parents suggest some changes? Or what is the biggest change you made to the story because of someone else?
Yes, my Dad has suggested a lot of changes in my story; Plot twist, Story space. My family has really played a big role.
Do you like listening to music while writing? Or do you need complete silence? Because this is something I've seen many writers do.
Yes!!!! It helps a lot. Music is my source of inspiration. When writing and the plot is quite complicated I need complete silence. Music helps me a lot. Sometimes I might be in need of a perfect word at a particular time. And music gives me the inspiration on what to write
Do you know the word "Masquerade"? I really like this word, you can use it too.
Yes I do
Is your book completed or are there some chapters remaining in it? How long do you think your book will be or will you go for a trio in future?
My book is currently ongoing. I think my book will actually take a while before it will go for a trio. There are still a lot of plots ahead. And I can't wait to write out all this imagination in my head.
That's actually amazing! So it means that your book can become a trio or duo in future. By the way, what's the best response you've gotten for your book so far and who gave it?
I've gotten a lot of the best response on my book, from my amazing readers. Some of them are from Mits 9, Mslndrani and so on.
Any favourite one?
Mslndrani is one of my favorites; This is her response and I quote; your book is amazing!!! The way you switch plot unknowing to the readers is what keeps me glued. And I always want to read it when I'm calm and doing nothing so every part digests in my head.
Do you always want to re-read the review? MsIndrani will be so happy to know that.
Lol!! You don't have to put the review. I even forgot we were doing an interview. It's just fun talking to you!!
Thank you. I'm flattered. But I think I'll put everything in the interview. Don't worry, just be cool.
Okay
So, what do you like about her review that it glues you to that?
And yes I always re-read the interview. Because it makes my heart glad to see that someone actually likes my writing. I think every writer can relate. When someone commends them about their work.
*review. I mean
Okay, If I made a publishing contract with you right now and provided you with an editor and a graphic designer. And let's just say that your story is complete too. Then do you think that your book would become a bestseller?
Yes!!!! I'm 99% sure that my story will become a bestseller. By the grace of God!!
That's really amazing! You have high expectations. Why not hundred though?
Lol!!! 99% is just perfect.
Ok. Do you think that you might change something in your book in the future? Like something big that might change most of the story.
Yes maybe!! I have actually thought about that recently
Ohhhh! Your readers are in for a surprise.
I bet you!!!!!
By the way, I was just thinking what else do you like other than writing? Painting perhaps? Did you design your cover yourself?
I like reading, Drawing, designing covers
Or was it someone else who helped you?
Yes I designed my cover by myself
How many covers have you designed yet?
Like uncountable. I actually can't count them. I've done a lot of covers for myself and also for others
Nice... do you like singing? I think everyone likes singing.
Yes. But trust me you don't want to hear me sing I'm bad at it. But to my ears, I actually sound amazing. But my brother does not agree with me on this one
It's your "brother", what else do you expect? I'm sure you sound amazing. What's your favourite song though?
Nah!! I recorded my voice one time and I don't know if I was impressed or devastated. Lol
My favorite song is "stay" by Alessia Cara
Oh, I haven't heard it yet. So, does writing make you feel relaxed?
Kind of!!!
That's nice. Some people take it as a burden upon themselves.
I know right!? Sometimes writing can be a burden, especially when it comes to editing. or when you've to rewrite a well deleted edited chapter
Wait burden is an understatement. Hard is the right word
Good thinking!
Told you so!!!!
If you were to give me suggestions to become a writer, what would they be?
Believe in yourself. Never give up.
And seek advice from talented and mature writers.
Any advice or motivation that you think might help young writers who are just starting to write? And for the times when writing might seem like a burden to them?
Yes! To all the young writers out there. I advise you all to never give up on your dream. At first, no one might even pay attention to your story. When this happens never give up on writing. With patience, everything will fall in place.
And when writing might seem like a burden my advice is to; Take a breath, cool off. Meditate. And even read other books to get your cool back.
This actually helps me a lot. Though
That's a pretty good advice. I'm sure that will help all those writers who are just starting to write. I'm wondering if there's anything that, if it wouldn't have happened then this story might not even be possible? Is there anything like that if that wouldn't have happened then you might've not been able to post this story online?
I don't think so
Wow, that's actually great! What is your favourite book from Wattpad? Or from the hardcopy ones?
My favorite book on Wattpad is Something New. It is a nice book. While my favorite hardcopy book is: Trials of the heart.
Oh, I bet they're pretty good. Who is your favourite author?
My favorite author is Nora Robert. I love her books so much.
That's nice. Do you relate to her in any way?
She's determined and I think I relate to her in this aspect. And we both love romance novel
Lisa, since we've reached the end of this interview I want you to thank everyone who helped you in making this book. And thank you, it was a pleasure interviewing you. I hope you become a bestseller one day.
Thank you so much!!!
