-Vincenzo-
I gazed at her in her sleeping state. I pulled away the strand of hair, covering her face to reveal her beauty. She looked so beautiful in her sleep. Her face was soft, peaceful. I gently caressed her cheek, her smooth skin under mine. Her eyebrows creased slightly at my touch but then slowly flattened. Her lips were parted mildly as she took deep breaths as she slept.
Mia was laying down, her side on the two seats. She was wearing some skinny, high waisted jeans that showed off her not too thick thighs and her butt that jiggled every time she took a step. She wore a white blouse with a pale vest underneath so you couldn't see her bra. Her long hair was in a loose braid and had a black hair bobble holding it together at her tips.
I glanced out the window. We were almost there. The car bounced over a large bump, that's when I knew were almost home. "Stai attento, Alberto!" {pay attention, Alberto!} I hissed, the idiot nodded, apologising.
I looked back at my love who was stirring slightly in her sleep, about to wake up. I sighed, lifting my hand away from her cheek. I wanted this to end. I wanted to be able to kiss her, love her and give her what she deserved. I wanted her to be my girl again.
Her eyes fluttered open, locking with mine.
-Mia-
The first thing I saw was him. Those sexy hazel eyes. I covered my mouth as I let out a short yawn, beginning to fully awaken. He smiled, leaning over me. "Did you have a nice sleep?" I nodded, stretching. I wasn't lying, it was a good sleep. I dreamt about rabbits strangely; rabbits jumping over puppies.
I noticed my surroundings. I was in a vehicle that was moving. I began to remember what happened before I slept. The prick in my neck.
I sat up, causing Vince to move away, giving me space. "Where are we?" I asked, rubbing my eye. "I can't tell you that but we are almost there." I moved to look out the window but it was tinted black so I could not see outside. Of course. The journey had to be a secret to all.
I glanced at him, to meet eyes again. "Mia. ." He moved closer, his fingers under my chin. What was he doing? What was I doing? Why couldn't I move. He glimpsed at my parted lips, his eyes darkening. I bit my lip, moving away. I stared at my fingers, looking at my fingernails. "I . .I can't Vince." He shifted on his seat, his hand on his face, the slowly moving to his hair. "I know."
I sighed, feeling guilty. He missed me, I could feel it. I missed him. The only thing holding me back was that memory. That awful, awful memory.
The car began to slow down, I looked up, seeing at me my ex. He grinned as if nothing happened between us in the last couple of minutes.
"Home sweet home."
Someone unlocked the car, opening the car door to reveal himself. Alberto. I remembered him. He sometimes came over when me and Vincenzo were still together. He would come to discuss things between them, I never heard their conversations. I gave him a small smile, placing my hand in his as he helped me out the car. Alberto was a little older than Vincenzo but had no authority over him. He was his driver, I could remember that.
I stood on the ground, looking at the sight in front of me. There was a three large buildings in front of me surrounded by a large and tall gate. We were literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a few trees and some roads that seemed to lead off nowhere.
The buildings were tall, had a modern exterior. They were dark and had a few fountains around them. The middle building was the widest however. This was private land.
Vincenzo walked to the gate, placing his hand on a scanner on the gate. The gate buzzed, opening slowly. "Come," he said, motioning me to follow him and I did just that. Glancing around at each step, I started to realise this is where I would be staying for a while.
I followed him on the path, passing a few flowers and fountains. He stopped at the first building, placing his hand on a scanner on the wall then opening the door, holding it for me as I walked in, thanking him.
The walls were painted dark grey and were brick and the floor was wood. I don't want to go through much detail but we passed a few plant pots and wall paintings of guns and views. Great.
We walked up the stairs, leaving Alberto downstairs. The place was unusually quiet as we passed a few rooms. It was clean and tidy and all you could hear was us and a few fans.
Vincenzo stopped in front of a door that said, 'Il Capo Della Mafia: Vincenzo Rossi' . {the mafia boss: Mr Vincenzo Rossi}. I didn't speak Italian so I had no idea what it said. All I knew that it said his name, Vincenzo.
I swallowed as he pushed the door open, revealing his office. I walked inside, taking a seat on the chair opposite his oak desk. He walked over to the shelve, grabbing a few files while I looked around the room at awe at all the modern furniture in his office. He sat on his chair, pulling it forward and he sat closer to the desk. Vince gave me a warm smile that melted my heart.
"Are you okay?" I nodded, giving him a smile in return. "I have a contract here." I looked at him in confusion. How did he know? "Did you know I was going to agree to this?" I asked, a little bit of anger in my tone. He shook his head innocently, "no. I always keep these here." He wasn't being sarcastic, I saw truth in his eyes.
I bit my lip, waiting for him to continue. He took out a few papers from his large white file then placed them in front of me.
The Rules and Regulations.
That's what it said on the front.
I turned the page over, skimming through the contract. At one point I looked up at him, staring at me.
-All maids must do all of that the boss demands.
I scoffed, shaking my head and continuing to read.
-Any disrespect, betrayal or rudeness will result in execution.
Now that sounded like Vincenzo. I wasn't surprised. He was a killer. Vincenzo had killed so many people and no matter how hard I tried to get him to stop he wouldn't listen. He didn't really care whether a person was a male or a female.
He would kill however he was more lenient with females. Always got one of his men to kill a woman or banish her. He couldn't face it. He never killed children either, or at least I hoped.
Before I met him he was much worse then when we started dating. He knew killing made me upset. He once killed a person in front of me. I didn't forgive him for days.
No one deserved to die in such a cruel way.
I finished reading, looking down to see a area that wanted my signature. I sighed. Was I really going to do this?
I cleared my throat, "can I have a pen, please?" I asked politely, nervousness rushing through me. He handed me a black biro pen, looking at me cautiously. I was about to place the pen on the paper, about to sign when he asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
I looked up, hesitating. ". .yes," I replied, not wanting to waste another moment thinking. I quickly signed my name, passing the papers back to him. I exhaled slowly, hoping I did the right thing. The contract said I had to be in this place for at least 6 months then, I could leave whenever I wanted. Six months would give me thousands of money, enough for me to go home.
I looked at my new boss, smiling politely. "So. .when do I start . . .boss?" My ex signed his name on the contract then grinned at me.
"Time to get you dressed."
"Dressed?"
"Oh, yes, my love."
He turned around, pressing a button on the side of his desk. His door almost immediately opened. I turned to see a girl who looked around my age. She was about my height with brown hair and small freckles. She had brown eyes and wore a maids outfit.
It wasn't too sexy; the dress was black and white and stopped at her knee. She had a plain black dress with a small, white apron around her waist and the dress had small ruffles at the hem of it. You could see some of her cleavage but not a lot and their was a small bow on her chest. She wore white socks and simple black ballet shoes. The dress was slightly tight and you could see her curves but not a lot.
"Sir, how can I help?" She kindly asked, her hands clasped together. She glanced between us, giving me a small smile. I smiled back.
"Uh. .show her the changing rooms. She's new here. When you're done, bring her back here."
She nodded, motioning me to follow her. I did, glancing at Vincenzo on my way out. She closed the door behind us, smiling.
"Well, first things first," she said. "I'm Caterina but most people call me Cat. It's nice to meet you . . ." I shook her hand, "Mia. My name's Mia." Cat complimented my name, leading me somewhere.
"So, what's this place? Is this a private land? Why are there three buildings?"
She chuckled, "so many questions at once," Cat grinned, her Italian accent lacing through her words. "Well, I can't tell you where this place is because I don't know either." I nodded as she continued, "no one does, except boss's men."
"This is private land I think. I've only being working here for a year or so. There are three buildings because-well," she started, "this building is for the men. Basically, it's where all-well some of Mr Rossi's men sleep or chill. Then, the middle building is the work place. This is where the men have meetings, some men sleep there, where they keep their guns and weapons and where all the plans are made."
"Some maids here choose have pleasure while working so they mess around with the men, as long and it doesn't affect their work, it's okay. I don't though," Cat said, blushing. "The maids sleep on the highest floor of this building and no men are allowed there. It's fun, it's like being in boarding school up there, like being kids again. We all run in and out of each other's rooms in our pyjamas."
"The third building is where Mr Rossi stays," she said opening the door to reveal a changing room. She grabbed a dress, placing it against my body then putting it back, grabbing another one. "Mr Rossi doesn't allow anyone in his home except his men. He cooks and cleans for himself. No maids in there."
I swallowed, unsure whether to ask this question or not. "Does. . .does he take . ." I sighed, scratching my arm. "Does he take girls in there? You know . . to," Cat blinked, bursting out laughing. "No, no!" She said, still laughing. "Mr Rossi? In your dreams." I couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief, smiling at her. Why was I relieved? We weren't together. Was I jealous?
"Mr Rossi doesn't even look at the girls in that way. Any disrespect coming from his men to the girls will result in them being killed. He doesn't fool around." I nodded, as she passed me some clothing. "You know," Cat began, licking her lips. "Apparently it's because of another woman." I started paying close attention, my breathing pattern changing.
"Apparently, he was so hurt by her, he couldn't touch another woman. Guilt. He did something to hurt her and she left." She shook her head rapidly, exhaling loudly. "I shouldn't be gossiping. I've only been here a year. It might not even be true. I'm sorry," I attempted to smile at her, "it's okay. It's fine." Guilt was now flooding inside me, nausea running through me.
I went into a empty cubicle with a small seat and a few shelves and hangers. I took off my clothes, putting on the dress. I pulled on the long white socks that came to my knee then slipped on the ballet shoes that had a small bow on the tip. I unbraided my hair, running my fingers through it.
I stood in the mirror, staring at myself. The dress stopped slightly above my knee. It looked exactly like Caterina's but was a bit tighter around the hips and upwards. I pulled the strings on my chest, making a bow as it pulled my breasts together. There was nothing I could do to make it hide my cleavage a bit more.
I sighed, attempting to tame my hair down but failed miserably. I folded my clothes, walking out the cubicle. Cat grinned, "looking hot." I smiled in return, thanking her. I pulled a strand of hair behind my ear, irritated by my hair. "Cat?" I asked, she nodded. "Would you mind cutting my hair? Just a bit?" She squealed, opening a door beside a stack of lockers to reveal a makeup room.
She pushed me gently on the chair, setting up hair combs, scissors and a razor. I sat on the chair, facing the mirror. My hair was extremely long and came down onto my butt. I loved long hair but the weather was getting warmer and it was getting harder to handle.
I told Cat that I wanted my hair to stop at the middle of my back and she started snipping my lovely hair away. Once she had finished, I was pleased with my new look, about to stand and thank her when she decided to do my makeup. As much as I tried to protest and get out of it, it didn't work. She said she would try and give me a natural look though.
It wasn't that I didn't like makeup, I just preferred looking natural.
She gave me some pink lip gloss that showed off the fullness of my lips and add some light blush on my cheeks. She then did my eyebrows that were apparently 'on fleek' and added a coat of mascara on my eyelashes. She then finished by adding some brown eyeshadow on my eyelids. I rubbed my lips together, thanking her. I did look different, but I liked it.
We walked back towards the office. Cat asked me a few questions about myself and I asked her the same. She was here because she needed money for her family. "I have a child." she said, tears in her eyes. I gave her a sympathetic look, touching her shoulder, "that's great. But what's wrong?"
"I couldn't look after her as well as I could have, so my family took her away. I have to get a stable job and money and a home by the end of this year or I can't have her. They will take her into care."
My eyebrows were raised in shock. How could her own family do this to her? As if reading my mind she said, "my family isn't really one to mess with. They are in a dark business." She wiped her eyes, sighing.
"I will get enough money in a few months, then I will leave this place and get my daughter. We will start a new life," she smiled at the thought, sniffing a bit. "No crazy family, no illegal business, just me and my bumble bee."
I smiled at the cute nickname, "you have a good heart, I can tell. Fight for your daughter, Cat. Don't let her go." She nodded, knocking on Vincenzo's door.
"Come in."
Vincenzo was standing, leaning against his bookshelf. He looked up at me, his eyes running up and down my body. I blushed under his gaze.
"Will that be all, Mr Rossi?"
He nodded, barely looking at her. Cat did a short bow before leaving the room courteously.
"Vincenzo?" I awkwardly asked, he snapped out of his trance, finally looking at my eyes. "Sorry," he muttered, studying my face. "You look different." I nodded. "I feel different."
"You cut your hair." I nodded, "I wanted a new look." He gave me a warm smile, "you look beautiful. .as always." I felt blood rush to my cheeks. The compliment touched my heart.
I peeked outside the window, realising how dark it was outside. The moon glistened in the sky as the sun went away.
"So," I asked, "when do I start, boss?"
It took him a moment to register what I had just said and when he did, he replied saying, "tomorrow. 6am sharp. Did Cat tell you where I lived?" I nodded. "Go there." He gave me a key. "Just go in and cook me breakfast. If I don't come down in a while. ." He gave me a small smirk. "You can come in and wake me."
"Okay, Sir."
