Who Was The Doctor?
All things considered, he didn't feel too bad. His whole body hurt but there wasn't much that hadn't hurt before all of this had happened and at least he didn't feel like offing himself now. At least not all the time.
Training had been rough yesterday, his entire body ached but he knew it was all for the best. He was getting strong, he was becoming someone worthy of being... he didn't know if he wanted to be a hero still or not but Shigaraki had said that it didn't matter if he had made up his mind yet so it was all okay.
Kurogiri was training him along with Shigaraki because they said he couldn't be weak. He was learning fast, absorbing everything they were teaching him like a sponge that had been dried out for far too long.
He had been told last night that he was to come by the bar early and to not eat anything beforehand. He had never been told that before so he was a little nervous.
The entire was there he was pondering as to what it could be, it had been three weeks and they had built a daily routine of things. Every day he would walk to the bar, taking a different route each time and then he would greet Kurogiri and Shigaraki and they would either train or play video games.
"Hello, guys."
Izuku greeted as he opened the door to the bar, seeing Shigaraki in a barstool and Kurogiri washing a glass as usual.
"Hello, Midoriya, you are early as usual. Was the walk here okay?"
Kurogiri greeted him with his normal tone of voice.
Shigaraki gave him a glance but didn't say anything which meant he was tired or there was something bothering him, Izuku wanted to make him feel better if that was the case.
"It was alright, nothing out of the ordinary."
Only a nod in reply and Izuku made his way over to a barstool and made himself comfortable, he was sure that something important was going to happen today, he just didn't know what.
"Did you read that manga I gave you?"
Shigaraki finally asked after several minutes of silence.
"Yes! It was really good, I liked the story. Are there any more to it?"
Izuku became excited about the prospect of there being more, he didn't know why he was being so open with Shigaraki but... at least he had someone.
Shigaraki nodded.
"I'll let you read them at some point."
Izuku knew there was something going on with his friend now, even after only a few weeks of knowing him he felt like he knew this blue-haired man more than he knew himself. But maybe that was because he didn't know what to think of himself at all right now.
It was silent once again so Izuku decided to write in his new notebook. It was new because Kurogiri had told him that his Hero notes were worthy of better quality and had bought him an entire set of hard-bound books for him to write in and a set of pencils and colored pens. He had even given him some colorful translucent strips so he could organize the pages if he wanted to. He did.
He didn't know why they thought his skills of analyzation were so great... well he was starting to get the idea. He was more than aware of the feeling that his new friends gave off, the chill they put to the air but ... but he was going to ignore that for now. He was feeling much angrier than anything else. At everyone. All Might in particular. He didn't think about it because he would be damned if he would give up his rational thinking and become useless like everyone had told him he was.
"Midoriya, follow me."
Kurogiri's voice jolted him from his thoughts which he was glad for honestly.
"Okay!"
He gathered his things and put them away in his bag and threw it over his shoulder to follow his misty friend.
Izuku was taken to a part of the bar that he didn't know existed, sure there was the training room but that was kind of like a basement that looked a little too large for the space above. This was different. The hallways that they were going through was enough to make Izuku wonder just how far this place went.
The first thing Izuku noticed was tubing, lots of tubing and wires that ran along the walls and floor of the surprisingly cramped room they were in. The room was dim, lit only by a few small tv monitors that cast a shadow of a chair...which is where all the tubing was going.
"Young Izuku Midoriya, come this way."
The voice was raspy and sickly but deep and rumbling all the same, it made Izuku jump, but by the feeling in the room, he didn't hesitate to follow the command of the voice.
Once he made his was to the other side of the chair, he was shocked by what he saw... a man connected to all those tubes and wires... being kept alive by what it seemed.
"Hello?"
Izuku said quietly, more nervous than anything else.
A chuckle came from the man sitting in the chair, which surprised Izuku but he wasn't about to comment on it.
"Hello.I am All-for-One, you may call me Sensei."
"Okay, Sensei."
"Good. Now, I have heard much about you, young man. I hear that you are an analyst that would put many quirk researchers to shame."
Izuku scratched the back of his head in awkwardness.
"N-no... it's just a hobby..."
"I see. Come a little closer, I will not kill you."
Izuku took notice of how he said he wouldn't kill him, not that he wouldn't hurt him as he took a few steps forward.
"You are quirkless you say? Are you sure?"
That was a question that shocked Izuku. Of course, he was quirkless!
"I-I have the toe-joint and everything."
It was quiet for a minute and the man reached out and touched the top of his head like he was going to pat him like a dog.
"So you were told you don't have a quirk, shame."
The man was quiet once again and only spoke once he removed his hand.
"I would like to know which doctor told you that you were quirkless, Midoriya."
Izuku's brain was whirling around his head as if he had just been thrown into a tornado. What was this man saying?
"...Dr. Noritoshi..."
Izuku finally said after his thoughts had calmed down.
"Um... may I ask why you want to know...i-if I'm not overstepping my bounds?"
There was a pause before the man said anything else.
"Young Midoriya, before I tell you anything else, I need to ask you one thing."
"Yes, Sensei?"
"How do you feel about All Might?"
There was a sudden rage that boiled inside of Izuku, it came from his very core and over-boiled and kept of bubbling until the rage was evident on his face. His fingers twitched and he wanted to hit something. He managed to calm down outwardly and answer All-for-One after what was only a few seconds but what felt like hours.
"I hate him."
That was not the answer he was expecting from himself. He had just worshiped All Might as a god only a few weeks ago, thought of him as the one and only thing he had wanted to become like. He was a Hero of Heroes and now ... now he hated him? He did. He hated that man now with every fiber of his being. Maybe he was being an emotional child but he was the catalyst for this depressed and angry feeling and he was the only person who Izuku could bring himself to blame other than himself.
"Oh? Why?"
That was another question that made Izuku's head reel.
"He is fake."
All-for-One seemed surprised by this and asked Izuku to elaborate.
"He says he is a hero for being a heroes sake but he doesn't care about people who aren't powerful like him. He's just like everyone else that turn their back on the quirkless because they don't fit in with society. He is everything that is wrong with the world."
Such venom in those words, such pure emotion that even Izuku was surprised. He had dug his nails into the palms of his hands from trying to restrain himself.
"Then let me tell you a secret, Midoriya."
Izuku looked up at the man who was talking to him, his aura even stronger than any of the others that had come and gone through the bar.
"You do have a quirk and I am going to help you unlock its power."
Izuku's eyes widened, his mouth hanging open. What? He had a... a quirk?! He did?! Really!?
"I-what?"
Another chuckle escaped the lips of All-for-One.
"Yes, Midoriya. You have a quirk, and I plan on helping you learn how to control it and if you become strong like I think you will, you can take All Might down."
"Take All Might down... defeat him? Me?"
"Yes."
Izuku didn't know what to think but there was one question that had been digging at the back of his mind, scratching at his brain like a caged rat.
"Am I a villain like all of you now, too?"
There was no time between what Izuku asked and a snort that came from Kurogiri who was still standing in the back.
"Just how much do you analyze, Izuku Midoriya?"
