"Is Tuh okay?" Amma asks.

"Yes. I'm more concerned about you all." I say.

I start cutting the cage's binds. I hear the captain chant. They bring a human. Amma and the others scream and yell. The captain takes out a bone knife. I let out a breath. I know what they are going to do. I know what lurks in the hole.

"Whatever you guys do, don't look at the eyes." I say.

I have to work quickly. Or I have to stop this from happening.

"Please, save him." Amaka takes my hand.

"I have to save you guys as well. He's dead." I say.

"Please boy, you must save our brother." She looks at me.

I let out a breath.

"Alright." I let go of the cage.

"Thank you." Amma smiles.

I turn and start creeping toward them. The captain raises his knife. I grab a rock. I throw it. It hits the knife, and it goes flying out of the captain's hands. So much for the element of surprise. He turns to me. The other creatures turn and growl.

"You... should not have come back." He gasps out.

"For too long have you slept in the darkness." I take up my spear.

"You... know... I will kill you." He walks forward.

"No. No, you won't." I charge.

He takes up a fallen spear. He walks forward.

"It was foolish of you to return." He charges.

"Maybe." I shrug.

Our spears slam into each other's. I throw him back. He wraps his tail around my leg. He throws me into a rock. The other monsters roar and approach slowly. I dust myself off. Ow. Bad move Captain. I charge again. He charges. Our spears clash once more. I duck as he thrusts his spear. I take it. I push him back.

"You have remembered your training." He pants.

"And it's lucky that you taught me everything." I say.
