3RD PERSONS VIEW。
jaeyoung sat on her bed as miyeon sat on the chair jaeyoung had in front of her desk. "so– where'd you get that from?" miyeon questioned softly, pointing at the slap mark on her friend's cheek.
"t-this?" jaeyoung raised a brow and pointed at the red imprint on her face. memories of what happened at the hallway ran through her head. jihye... family... the prince!
"i got it from jihye..."
miyeon gasped, "that girl again? seriously! why does she hate you so much." she questioned and ran up to hug her friend, caressing her cheek.
jaeyoung winced as she felt miyeon's fingers graze over her cheek. "okay, it stings."
miyeon sighed, "i'm gonna go get you some ice." the girl stood up and left the room.
jaeyoung could only look at herself in the reflection as she eyed the red imprint on her cheek. her gaze soon landed on her favorite book that was placed neatly on the study table behind her.
the unnamed prince came across her mind. "who in heraphany is he." she grumbled and tried to search in any history books about anything in heraphany, but to her luck, there weren't any books like that in her bookshelf.
"what are you doing over there?" miyeon asked as soon as she walked into the room.
jaeyoung scoffed, "it seems like i apparently am not interested in history like i thought i would be."
miyeon tilts her head, "huh? what are you talking about? i'm the one who hates history here."
"exactly!" jaeyoung points out, "then how come i'm the one who doesn't own any history books." she questions, gesturing towards the bookshelf she had filled with numerous of books.
her friend had a perplexed expression on her face before she bursted out laughing, "yah! seriously! what's going on?"
"miyeon!" jaeyoung lets out a whine, "i met freaking princes!"
realization hirs miyeon and a wide smirk appeared on her lips, "oh, i know, and meeting them again was apart of my plan."
"what?"
"what?"
the two stared at each other before miyeon blinked and sat down, patting the space next to her for jaeyoung to sit down. "i mean't like, i planned for you to be at the control booth so that you'd meet them eventually."
"how'd you know i have actually met almost all of them before?"
"you've met some of them before!?"
jaeyoung nodded slowly, "y-yeah, i kinda did."
miyeon gawked at her best friend, "are you serious?! jaeyoung! why didn't you tell me!"
"i seriously had no idea who and what they actually were!" jaeyoung said in defense.
miyeon had this look of disbelief on her face as she facepalmed for what jaeyoung told her, "j-jaeyoung... ugh seriously! i thought you listened to history class!"
"you mean when we were younger?" jaeyoung tilts her head, confused.
miyeon nods and lifts her head up to glare at the girl, "thank hera that our grade is having the history of heraphany again cause i swear jaeyoung!"
"look, i told you my reasons!"
"that's not even reasonable! that's like a number one rule for everyone! know about the royal family in their place! what if they visited you or something?"
jaeyoung stifled a laugh, "i'd be like mhm, okay, yes your highness—"
"jaeyoung!" she got cut off by a whining miyeon.
"right! right! sorry." jaeyoung smiled while miyeon just plainly stared at her.
"as i was saying," miyeon mumbled, "you're like mrs. kang's daughter! of course you'd meet the royal family one day! don't you know how respect mrs. kang's family in the palace, in fact the whole heraphany, is??"
jaeyoung sighs, pouting her lips a bit, "but like– i'm... i actually joked about that in front of like princes."
"what?" miyeon's eyes widened as she cranes her head to look at jaeyoung.
"i told them that i didn't care about the royal family and such, and like that they're just normal people too, and like i also said something about i'm not even gonna meet the royal family at some point in my life and truth be told! i said that in front of lee minhyung." jaeyoung blabbered as she fiddles with her blanket.
"lee minhyung?" miyeon raises a brow. "oh wait, you mean mark?"
the other girl nodded before laying down on her back, a heavy sigh escaping her lips.
miyeon had been massaging her temples every now and then as their conversation couldn't get more unbelievable. miyeon didn't know why jaeyoung kept meeting the princes and but somehow something in her clicked.
she knew for one, that jaeyoung meeting the princes could be good for both parties. jaeyoung would find the missing family she had longed for, that's what miyeon plans. family or home isn't just a love one or an actual family, but it could also be friendship too.
the second reason was that jaeyoung meeting the princes would cause nothing more than trouble. miyeon knew what happened during that day, she couldn't even process what happened as she also lost someone dear to her. miyeon knew how the princes acted around girls, thus why she was all nervous when she met them.
"tell me, jaeyoung?"
"what?" the other hums in response, dozing off from the time to time on her bed.
"are some of the princes you met rude to you?"
jaeyoung thought about it and nodded, although miyeon wouldn't even notice her little nod, "yeah, most of them were shocked or nervous, some were playful, some were suspicious."
"did you know what happened to han seulhyo?" miyeon suddenly blurts out.
jaeyoung pushed her back up and tilted her head at miyeon, "she's our friend and she was sent to the palace for training to become a maid, why? did something happen to her?"
the thought about something happening to her friend made her anxious. they were friends for a long time, the three of them. they were inseparable.
"y-yah... mi you're making me nervous."
"that's why you're trying to sneak me in the grand ball right? we're going to meet seulhy—"
"jae... seulhyo died two years ago..."
"t-two years? i asked you how was she a few months ago– you lied?!"
miyeon bit her bottom lip as she nervously sat there, "i-i couldn't bring my self to tell you she was d-dead... you were so stressed out with finding you fami—"
"miyeon!" she cuts her off, "my friends are my family." she held onto miyeon's shoulders, staring into the girl's eyes. miyeon's heart ached, jaeyoung exactly taught her how family doesn't just have a simple meaning.
miyeon felt really bad for what she did. "i-i'm sorry." she knew how jaeyoung was. the girl was always nice to anyone, it's like she couldn't even bring herself to hurt anyone but her.
"i'm gonna go out." jaeyoung mumbled before running out her room, ignoring the shouts and complaints from miyeon.
jaeyoung ran across the street and kept running, though she had completely no idea where her feet lead her. she stopped by the bakery. she stared at the sign before flinching when she heard a loud honk from her side.
she turns to look and a man opens the door.
don't tell me–
"hello! it's me again! lucas!" the tall dorky prince stood in front of her, waving his large hand as he grinned.
"don't scare her again, yukhei." another one came out of the car.
"sicheng! she's the girl we met last time we got pastries!" lucas pointed out and jaeyoung felt her nerves kicking in again.
"what do you mean girl?" the last prince to come steps out of the car, qian kun.
his mouth went slight agape as his eyes trailed onto jaeyoung. a scoff left his mouth, "who's this?"
"she's... i actually don't remember her name.." lucas frowned and nudged sicheng.
sicheng raised a brow, "why would i remember a girl's name!"
lucas lets out a whiny noise before looking back at jaeyoung apologetically, "what's your name aga— wait, crying?"
sicheng flinched at lucas' voice and looked at the girl, she was obviously crying, seeing as now she kept wiping her tears away with the sleeves of her cardigan.
"wait, no, use this." kun said and handed her a handkerchief.
sicheng's eyes went wide as he snapped a look towards kun.
kun suddenly realize what he did and he immediately loomed away, "i don't really care if you're crying. it just looks ugly to cry so please stop."
lucas sighed and glared at his brothers, "you are no help!" before leaning down at bit to face her.
"are you okay? um, lady? whoever you are—"
sicheng slapped lucas' arm, "stop that."
lucas ignored the older one, "you must be so sad! that's what i felt whenever i get left alone during fencing training, but it's all good now! so don't be sad anymore..." he tried to comfort her.
kun deadpanned at the younger, "that's not how you comfort someone."
lucas hissed, "shhh! we're talking here!"
jaeyoung chuckled softly, "it's alright, i'm okay, i'll go get you the basket."
she went in and greeted the staff, as well as mrs kang who was surprised to see her at the bakery. she gave mrs kang a soft smile before proceeding to take the basket.
she came out of the bakery, holding the basket of treats for the princes, who were actually bickering right in front of her.
"kun-hyung!" sicheng complained as lucas kept bugging him.
kun rolls his eyes, "don't even." he mumbled before turning to face jaeyoung.
"here you go." she said with a small smile.
as kun took the basket, he had to fight the urge to ask her if she was okay, and obviously he didn't win this one, "a-are you okay?"
jaeyoung froze a bit before meeting eyes with kun, "y-yeah, don't worry."
kun scrunched his nose, "i'm not worried, tsk, yeah i'm not." he muttered and looked away.
"let's go now." kun announced and went back in the car.
sicheng followed after while lucas gave jaeyoung a smile, walking towards her.
"sorry about kun-hyung, he's just, um, i don't really know either." lucas laughed sheepishly before clearing his throat, "can i at least know you name?"
"i'm sorry, i'm bad at remembering names actually." lucas confessed.
"my name is jaeyoung."
"right! lady jaeyoung! well, milady this kind gentleman has to go now, thank you for the pastries, they're really good." lucas grinned before stepping into the car.
"i may forget your name, but i hope you won't forget mine!" he exclaimed before the car drove off fast.
