MIN JAEYOUNG。
"have you heard about it?"
"omg! they are really coming!"
"is everyone gonna come?"
"are they all gonna be present?"
"i just can't wait to see them at the game!"
"i know right? it's been awhile since we've last seen the princes!"
"ugh, they look so handsome!"
"i can't believe this!"
as soon as i stepped in our classroom, students kept buzzing and buzzing about some sort of news they had just found out. i, on the other hand, wasn't really interested much in school gossip.
however, i know someone who really does. as if on cue, miyeon walks in and started jumping up and down in front of me out of excitement. a big grin was plastered on her face as she shoved the flyer onto my face without a warning.
i quickly backed away before her hand and flyer could even touch my face. i narrowed my eyes and read the flyer. "what does this even mean?" i utter in confusion.
"this," she raises the flyer, "my friend is just unbelievable news!"
"and i'm supposed to listen to you rant this because?"
"because! you're my friend and like, i have a feeling you should know about this." miyeon explains before pulling the chair in front of my desk and taking a seat, facing me.
"what is it anyways?" i mumble, my eyes now darted onto one of my favorite books of all time. don't get me wrong, miyeon has probably seen me re-read this book for like more than thirty times now. it just that, for me, an actual good book would keep on getting better the more times you read it.
"it's about the royal family!"
hearing the words 'royal family' reminded me of something. that something was the boys i met back at the library again.
i couldn't help but chuckle as i remembered how renjun would keep on eyeing and doubting me.
"what about them?" i raised a brow.
"they're coming to the game on wednesday! well, not really every single one of them, i heard from my dad that it's up to the royal family themselves if they want to go or not," miyeon blabbered, "do you think all of the princes would go?"
i gave her a weird look, "i don't know."
"why don't you ask them yourself?"
miyeon laughed, "like that would be an easy thing to do!"
"you have connection tho—"
"yeah, but that doesn't mean i'm close to them or any of their staff or whatever." miyeon cuts me off and leaned back on her chair, "how about you?"
her questions caught me off guard as i eyed her, "what?"
"what do you think about the princes? knowing you, you probably don't even care." miyeon scoffed while a soft chuckle left my lips in amusement.
"you know me so well."
"why don't you even try and learn about the royal family, i mean, you've practically learned a lot about heraphany by now, you're always indulging yourself with your history books." she grimaced, her face showing a look pure of disgust.
"they're just the royal family—"
"just!?" miyeon screeched from her chair, causing students to crane their heads towards her sudden commotion.
cheeks instantly flushed as a pink hue dusted them. "s-sorry..." she apologizes and sat back down. "embarrassing." she whines and covers her face with the flyer.
"well, i guess they are important people, but they're normal too. nothing's special."
miyeon furrows her brows and i stopped reading my book to tell her, "the royal family is like any other family, they just have a status in this society we live in."
"they are just like us, they are human and i'm pretty sure they don't like people bugging them or anything. they just want a peaceful life you know."
"jeez, never thought of that." miyeon murmured.
"yeah, we shouldn't go around talking about them cause i don't think anyone would like being talked about behind their backs."
miyeon pouted, "okay enough! let's just talk about the program itself!"
"are you gonna come on wednesday?"
i thought about it, well probably i'll be there for sure. it was on a school day.
"every student is gonna be there anyways, it's a school day." i told her, my attention on my book again.
miyeon hummed, "yeah, but still."
"i'll be there, you wouldn't want to be alone anyways right?"
i laughed as i saw her flustered expression, "whatever." she mumbled and stood up as our teacher came into the room to start the class.
after school, miyeon had her chauffeur to pick her again so she insisted on driving me to mrs kang's bakery.
i waited for miyeon's car to drove off after i bid her goodbye. as soon as i turned around, i was met with a familiar face.
my body froze as he stared at me, he really doesn't like me, does he?
"uhh... what do you want?" i managed to say under his sharp gaze.
he leaned back, "we came earlier than usual, and i expected you to be here already to hand us out our pastries." he stated, his arms crossed in front of him.
"i just came back from school..."
"seems like it."
his stare was obviously making me uncomfortable.
"let her go, do." my eyes trailed onto the new face. the guy had his hand on doyoung's shoulder to probably calm him down.
the guy flashes me a soft smile, "doyoung's being a meanie, isn't he?"
doyoung scoffed and looked away, "no i'm not."
the guy laughed, "yes you are."
"i'm jungwoo, doyoung's brother." the guy introduced himself. he seemed a lot more nicer than doyoung, wait no, he actually is.
"we're here for the pastries." jungwoo stated calmly and i nodded with a faint smile.
"okay, just give me a few minutes and i'll go get them." i told him before walking off inside the bakery.
"who's outside, jae?" hyori questions me as soon as i stepped inside the kitchen.
"just mrs kang's regulars." i shrugged and reached to grab the basket of goods that were made exactly just for their liking.
i headed out and saw jungwoo and doyoung waiting by their car.
for a second i saw doyoung's eyes lit up in happiness upon seeing the basket of pastries but then that tint of happiness was washed away quickly, now replaced with that cold, menacing stare of his.
jungwoo glanced at doyoung and hit him lightly, "don't look like you're about to kill somebody." he scolds and turns to me.
"thank you..." jungwoo trailed off, waiting for my answer.
"jaeyoung."
"thank you, lady jaeyoung!" jungwoo grins as i handed him the basket. "we really do appreciate how much love you put into baking these."
i chuckled, "well, it's our job."
doyoung scoffed, "love."
jungwoo huffed and glared at doyoung, "stop acting like a prick."
doyoung scrunched his nose, "i wasn't doing anything!"
"whatever." jungwoo rolls his eyes.
"we have to go now, thank you again."
"you're always welcome!" i said before waving goodbye as they walked back in their car.
before doyoung was about to close the door he suddenly said, "you look pretty today." then he knitted his brows, sending a glare at me before closing the door.
my hand pressed on top of my heart, the beat was fast and uncontrollable.
. . .
3RD PERSONS VIEW。
"you act all confident, telling her she looks pretty, then you act all mean and now you're flustered not knowing what to do next." jungwoo summarized as he watched his brother flailing on his bed.
he had this amused expression as it was rare for doyoung to act all gibberish and bewildered. "i'm kinda liking this. it's like a drama." jungwoo admitted as he faced his mirror, fixing his hair like he'd always do.
doyoung stopped tossing and turning in his bed to shoot jungwoo a glare. "shut up. i didn't know okay! it just– just– it happened to come out of this stupid mouth!"
jungwoo scoffed, "please, just admit defeat for once."
doyoung was about to speak up when a knock on their door interrupted them.
"come in." jungwoo responded as the door opens revealing chenle.
"chenle?" doyoung raised a brow at the younger.
"taeyong-hyung wants everyone in the study, he said it's about the event on wednesday."
jungwoo nodded at the boy, "alright, we'll be there."
chenle sent them a smile before closing the door. the boy went back to his own shared room with jisung. he was happy for a reason and he couldn't get more excited upon the news he heard.
as soon as he stepped in with the biggest smile he could ever muster up, jisung had noticed this and commented, "what's up with the smile?"
"i'm just happy, that's all." chenle grinned as he grabbed his notebook from his desk.
jisung stood up and was ready to leave, still eager to know what was going on with his best buddy. "yeah, i know you're happy." jisung shrugged, "you just look like... too happy."
both of them stopped before they even reach their door. "we're going to that school where i met the girl i keep talking about." chenle blurted out softly. his heart pounded, remembering about their encounter. he sure wished to see her again.
fortunately, joshua had already reported to him that they would be going to the same school where he met her. with that incredible news, chenle couldn't help but smile for the rest of his day. he was beyond happy.
jisung chuckled as they continued to walk, "that's so great!"
"i also know who's gonna go and who isn't! aren't i awesome?" chenle brags.
jisung scrunched his nose, "awesome? maybe. nosy? definitely!"
chenle gasped and hit jisung playfully, "rude."
jisung shook his head and laughed, "well, you wander off around the palace too much that you just keep on hearing news here and there."
"that's the point! it's so that us, younger ones, would know what they keep on talking about." chenle nudged jisung. "you know how over protective the older ones get and they just keep on hiding secrets from us."
jisung frowned and lowered his head, "yeah, it's getting kinda annoying."
but he lifted his head up again, "but, i'm pretty sure they have a good reason for it."
"they're just as afraid as us." jisung glanced at chenle.
"taeyong-hyung is the most afraid."
chenle snickered, "why wouldn't he? he just wants the best for his brothers anyways."
"he'd die just to protect us."
