Preparations

Mat's P.O.V.

My eyes slowly lifting I opened my mouth. A yawn rolling off of my tongue I nearly bolted upwards as the ringing of the phone blared around the house.

A sigh escaping my lips I lifted my legs carelessly swinging them over my bed. Bending my knees I planted them onto the floor.

My arms retreating to the back of me I planted them on my mattress. Pushing myself up off of the bed I let my feet guide me towards the sound of the phone.

Sliding through the doorway of my room. The door already open of my room I turned left strolling down the hallway where it opened up to the dining room.

Orange light flashing from the phone on the table as it rang I rushed towards it. My hand slamming onto the phone I grasped my fingers around it.

Pressing the answer (Call) button clearing my throat before I brought it up to my ear.

"Hello?" I questioned my voice sounding scratchy and soft as if I just woke up. Well technically I just did but never mind that...

"Mat?" Jerome's voice questioned immediately grabbing my attention. Why was JEROME calling me?

"Yeah Jerome?" I replied wondering why he was calling me. They rarely call unless it's something important.

"Ummm, there is some bad news...About the Pack..." Jerome confessed his voice becoming quieter and quieter I pushed him onwards.

"What? What's the bad news? What happened?!?" I questioned Jerome immediately replying sounding like he needed to tell somebody badly.

".....Mitch almost died and Vikk is in a coma. Rob is breaking down since Preston died and...

I don't know how long Lachlan can last without Vikk!" Jerome blurted out, my eyes widening I felt as if I was frozen in time.

Vikk was in a coma....Mitch almost died....Rob is breaking down because Preston isn't with him anymore.....And Lachlan probably won't last.

"Ummm, I honestly don't know what to say. I'm speechless. Are they alright?" I wondered to Jerome.

I could hear him shrugging his shoulders on the other side of the phone as a sigh escaped through his lips.

"No, no I don't think so." Jerome confessed. My hand raising towards my face I brushed it against my cheek.

"I hope everything turns out ok. Do you know which hospital Vikk is in?" I questioned curious.

"Yeah, he is in the Mary Ann Hospital. Why?" Jerome pondered his voice sparking with wonder. A smile slowly spread on my lips as I answered.

"I'm going to visit him with an old friend." I remarked gaining silence on the other end of the phone.

"Alright, which friend?" Jerome questioned but I easily avoided the answer. I can't let them know who.

"One we all used to know." I answered earning a small, forced laugh from Jerome.

"Alright, just don't be clumsy in the hospital. I know how you love to trip over your own feet." Jerome joked his voice sounding covered and not himself.

"Alright, thanks Jerome." I commented earning a quick reply from him.

"Anytime Mat." Jerome answered.

"Alright, well, bye Jerome!'' I faked a cheery voice at the end and so did he.

"Bye Mat!" Jerome called. Pushing the phone away from my ear I tapped the end call button.

"Uuuuuuuugghhh" I groaned. The phone slipping from my hand I let it smack onto the table. I just can't believe it....

Everybody's falling......My feet shuffling I turned myself towards the hallway. Ignoring non important doors I sped up.

Rushing past my room I stopped at the green door at the end of the hall........How do I tell him?....What do I tell him?

My arm trembling I outstretched my hand grabbing the door knob. My fingers curling around the doorknob I turned it and pushed the door open gently. My

Taking in a deep breath I forced myself inside. Dust covered the floor unhealthily as the sun was blocked from the gloomy room.

My feet silently making it's way towards the balcony in the room I opened the curtains.

Light shining in the room I heard a small groan come out of his mouth. Letting me find his position.

Turning to where the sound was I walked towards it. Sitting on the warm bed where he was just laying down recently.

Silence in the room he was the first one to speak up startling me. He hasn't talked in a long...LONG time...

"Did I make a mistake Mat?" He questioned causing my stomach to churn as soon as the words slipped

out of his mouth not used to him talking or making any contact with me whatsoever.

"I don't know Preston." I responded, not moving a muscle he spoke once more.

"They ditched me, Rob left in the car accident. I'm just glad you came last time. I would have died but you saved me.

Thank you for that but, I just feel like when I was younger again. Ditched, lonely, nobody I can trust. Except you......

Is anything going on with the Pack? I just want to make sure they're alright. I mean, they might not care for me.

But I still care for them" Preston spoke his voice barely audible I broke my gaze away from him and turned to stare out his balcony.

The blue sky calming me in a way I answered slowly. Pain in my voice as I summed everything up.

"Vikk is in a coma, and Mitch almost died. I think he tried commiting suicide but Jerome didn't say.

Rob is crumbling down without you, and Lachlan is breaking from the pressure. They think you died." I explained causing Preston to tense.

"They what?" Preston spoke up his voice a little louder I repeated myself.

"They think you're dead, they couldn't have a funeral because you're body was never found but....

I think we should go visit Vikk in the hospital Preston." I pointed out. Nodding his head slowly he used his arms to turn himself so his eyes locked

with mine. The once cheery, bright brown eyes were now sad and dark. Preston's eyes were bloodshot and he had deep,

dark bags under his eyes. Preston's hair was flat and greasy as if he hasn't showered in days. (Which he didn't)

And yet he managed to still smell good, like vanilla. Preston's gaze going to his feet he forced a smile and slowly nodded his head.

We're Going To See Vikk...
