Screams were heard outside, making Itzvar stop what he was doing. Sophia was still pinned under him and stopped fighting back as she listened. He immediately got off the bed and put on his pants as he took a peek through the door. His eyes widened as he saw other Viking men and shieldmaidens, whom he didn't recognize, attacking his village, his territory.

He got his axe and ran outside to fight.

Sophia tried to regain her composure as she figured out what was happening. She slowly went to look outside; it looked like war. That was when the young woman realized these supposed intruders were with Ragnar. The plan was finally put into motion.

"Ragnar, I have to get to Ragnar!" She was scared but knew no other option but to get to Ragnar. Sophia made sure to make herself unseen and hide in areas that would keep her safe. Behind a cart of hay, she saw Estrid hiding.

The young woman ran toward the cart. "Estrid!" Sophia whispered. 

Estrid almost yelped, but the sight of Sophia made her heart jump with relief. "You're okay!"

Sophia put a finger to her lips. "Yeah, and I'm glad you are too. We need to get to Ragnar! He could take us with him if we get to him and let him go."

"What!?"

"Keep it down! Ragnar is our only chance!"

Estrid was silent for a bit but, in the end, relented. "V-Very well! I will trust your judgment. Please don't let us get killed." Estrid got out of the cart and followed Sophia until they got to the prison, which was unguarded. The two entered, and when they did, a woman was inside, untying Ragnar. The woman glared at the two with the intent to kill. Before she got her sword, Ragnar spoke. "Don't harm them. They are against Itzvar."

The shieldmaiden was still glaring at them but got Ragnar free. Ragnar looked at Sophia."My men got the message, thank you."

"No problem. Ragnar, please take us with you! We can't stay here. That bastard will eventually find out that we helped you."

The shieldmaiden eyed Ragnar. "They could be spies!"

"Enough. They will come with us. The two risked so much to help me escape. I am in debt to them, and you will not question my decision." He was given his shield and sword. "Gather swords, and you two will need to fight to get out of here if need be. Take horses as we will now leave."

The women followed Ragnar and the shieldmaiden. Estrid and Sophia found swords to defend themselves. Ragnar and the shield woman fought and quickly killed those approaching them. Without warning, one of Itzvar's men ran towards Estrid, and the young woman closed her eyes and screamed. Sophia got in front of her, knelt, and stabbed the man in the stomach. She got her sword out of him and held Estrid. "Pull yourself together! Look, there's a horse!"

Ragnar took a glance and smirked. He looked ahead and saw one of his men approaching him with a horse. The shieldmaiden got on another that was given to her by another shieldmaiden. Sophia helped Estrid get on the horse, and then she got on it. She sat in front of Estrid, who held onto her. Sophia commanded the horse to follow Ragnar, who commanded his men and women to follow and leave the village.

Ragnar's warriors followed as they all began to leave the village. Itzvar stabbed a shieldmaiden across the heart and saw the enemy leave. Not only that, but he saw Sophia and Estrid leave with them. He wanted to go after her as he felt bloody rage and the sudden urge to kill, but he knew it would be pointless.

He hit the ground with his sword and screamed with rage.
