Huntress - Part 2 - Hvitserk x Reader

Hvitserk watched, as she made her way to the final small hut. The huntress leaving an animal and some other sundries at front of the door, before making her way through the quiet streets. It was a cold night, a fresh fall of snow begin to slowly come down from the sky; the prince sure that he could no longer feel most of his appendages, despite the fact that he was covered with thick furs. His breath hanging heavy in the air, as he continued to watch the beautiful woman silently make her way out of the village. Yet she, she appeared unfazed by the cold. Her form covered in only pants, a short tunic, and the same fur hooded cloak that he had seen her in that first time. Hvitserk furrowing his brows, as he realised that he could not see her breath like he could his own. The prince wondering how this could be.

Suddenly, he jumped up from the spot where he had been hiding, as he realised that the huntress was no longer there. That she had just seemingly vanished into the night, into the snow. Hvitserk making his way out into the now deserted street, and standing there for a moment, before he heard something behind him. The second son of Aslaug slowly turning, to find himself at the pointed end of an arrow. His eyes growing wide, as he watched the huntress pull the drawstring back to the corner of her lips; Hvitserk feeling that if he were to say the wrong word, then this might be the last thing that he saw.

"What are you doing here..............?" The woman demanded to know. Her eyes never moving from his, as she waited for a suitable answer. Hvitserk doing his best to try and think up something creative, something smart; his mouth unfortunately moving, without him meaning it to.

"I was following you.............." He blurted out. Cursing at himself for his seeming inability to control his own mouth.

"And why would one of the sons of Lothbrok, be interested in following me...........?" She continued. Hvitserk deciding that he should continue with the truth, as it had not got him killed.........yet.

"I have been watching you for a while. I have seen you leave food in doorways, before. I have seen you leave your kills, so that others might eat. I wanted to know why you do that; I wanted to know more about you.............."

"You know as much about me, as you need to know, Ragnarsson. Now, be on your way, before I change my mind about loosing this arrow." The huntress warned, before lowering his weapon, and turning away from him.

Hvitserk knew that he should just stay where he was, that he should not tempt fate. That he should just let her go and thank the gods that he would get to see another day. But he had been watching her for so long now. He had been captivated by her beauty, her ability. Intrigued about why she would do what she did; so, giving up now, before he had even learnt her name, seemed like surrendering; and he didn't like the thought of that. His feet quickly taking him in the direction the woman had gone.

"Wait.............." He called out, as the fall of snow, became thicker. The chill in the air becoming more pronounced.

"Please............Is it so wrong to want to know more about you. To know how you have become so skilled. At least tell me your name................"

"And what good would my name be to you............? It would not change anything.................." A voice called out in reply, Hvitserk spinning around, as he tried to locate where the sound was coming from.

"If you were me, would you not want to know the name of the most beautiful woman you had ever seen. The name of the you had been unable to stop thinking about since the first moment you lay eyes on her............." The prince replied. The breath catching in his throat, as he felt a presence come up behind him.

"Midgardian man have so much more in common with the gods; more than either kind might think. Their hearts, their minds so easily swayed by a pretty face........." The voice continued. Hvitserk slowly turning, to find himself face to face with the huntress. The breath catching in his throat, as she drew closer. The prince finally able to see the tinge of blue that kissed the flesh of her face.

"What..........what are you............?"

"You wish to know who I am so badly, that you would dare to continue after me, despite my warning; so, I suppose that I should reward your bravery, Hvitserk, son of Ragnar." The woman stated, as she took a few steps closer to the prince.

"My name is (Y/n). The people call me the huntress. I am the daughter of the frost giantess, Skaði and the great god Odin. I bring the poor, the sick, the weak, women that have lost their husbands, and have no way to feed their children, food. I hunt, when others cannot. I give them hope, where they have none. So.........now you know. And now, I must take my leave............" The beautiful woman explained, as she turned and made her way back into the flurry of snow. Hvitserk unable to do anything but stare in disbelief.

Note: Although Skaði was married to the god Njörðr originally. In Heimskringla, Skaði is said to have split from Njörðr, before later marrying Odin. The two producing many children together. So, this was what I used as influence :)
