You Know

I have always believed

And we all know,

As time goes by the initial attractions and excitement

In any relationship

Give way to a feeling of contentment and security.

I have always said,

When asked by someone younger,

"How will I know?"

It's those times, 

Years into a relationship, when you are both 

Quietly sitting in your living room

Perhaps reading the paper

Perhaps reading books

Or maybe silently listening to music

When, 

At this point in your relationship, 

You can still look at your spouse

And they bring a smile to your face

Then

I believe

You know
