The front door flew open & Khushi stormed in. She came & stood in front of her parents who were sitting in the living room having their evening tea leisurely.
One look at their daughter's dull face & teary eyes, they got up alerted keeping their tea mugs back on the table.
“Khushi… What happened, baby??” Khushi's father Shashi Gupta asked coming near her.
Khushi immediately hugged her father tightly, crying, scaring her parents.
Her mother Garima also rushed to her crying daughter. Caressing her head she tried to calm her down.
“I hate him papa. I hate him. Arnav cheated on me & I hate him for that.” She said sobbing into her father's chest.
Her parents’ eyes widened in shock hearing such words from their daughter's mouth for the man who is her life.
“I'm never going back in that house, back to him, ever.” She declared with tears rolling down her cheeks & rushed to her room, shutting herself from her flabbergasted parents.
Her parents Shashi & Garima couldn't decipher what was their daughter blaming her husband for & why was she refusing to go back to him. So, they hurried towards her room to know the matter but she had locked herself. They banged on the door several times requesting her to open & tell them the matter. But she refused straightforwardly from inside & asked them to leave her alone for some time. But, their concern for her well being didn't let them move from there until she promised that she won't take any drastic step.
Coming back to the living room they sat trying to understand the possible scenarios which made their calm & composed daughter so angry, that she was ready to leave her husband whom she loves to death.

Khushi was sitting on her bed with her wedding album in her lap. She was reminiscing every memory attached with every single pic she was looking at, turning pages after pages of the album. Tears were flowing simultaneously from her pretty eyes, falling on the pics.
Married life of 8 months & courtship of 2 months before marriage was nothing but full of bliss. She had everything. Best set of parents, a loving & doting husband, caring in laws & a beautiful house, what else does a woman want from her life?
She remembered her first meet with Arnav. He had come to stay in her neighbouring flat provided by his company, where he was working on a higher post.
She was getting late for her college & had rushed towards the lift which was about to get closed. But, the occupant inside held it open for her & she entered with a relieved smile which widened seeing the man in front of her. He was undoubtedly the most handsome & charming man she had ever come across. Her heart had galloped excitedly in her chest. She wasn't able to avert her eyes from his handsome face & chiseled body.
“Hii… I'm Arnav. Arnav Singh Raizada.” His husky voice had interrupted her staring session. She saw him forwarding his hand towards her for a hand shake.
Hesitatingly, she had kept her hand in his “Khushi Gupta,” she had introduced herself shyly & had retracted her hand immediately feeling a familiar yet unknown current run through her veins.
Exiting the lift they had moved towards the parking area together silently.
He went towards his bike & she tried to start her scooty which was giving her hard time that day refusing to start. Giving up she had decided to hire an auto but a bike had stopped in front of her suddenly, scaring her. Before she could scold the person riding the bike, he removed his helmet & a smile broke on her lips. It was Arnav, passing her his charming smile.
Understanding her situation he had offered her a lift. After initial hesitation she had accepted his offer on his insistence.
She was thrilled to sit behind him on the bike. She had the desire to sit holding his waist tight but she resisted herself not wanting to show her desperation. He also like a perfect gentleman had dropped her to her college without applying unnecessary brakes to make her stick to him from behind like usually boys do with beautiful girls & this chivalry of his had given him a special place in her heart.
There was no looking back after that. They had become very good friends. His goodness & simplicity had charmed her parents as well. They had also become very much fond of him in a very less time, as if they had known him from years. He used to have his evening tea & snacks with them & sometimes dinner as well. He used to help her in her studies. They had many common hobbies & likes with watching movies on the top. They used to go for a movie every weekend. They used to go for long drives on his bike & in return he used to treat her with her favourite ice cream. He had never tried to cross his limits apart from normal touching & friendly hugs. But his eyes had always conveyed his feelings for her. She was always happy & smiling whenever she was with him. He had become an integral part of her life or may be he had become her life.
Her parents had noticed the changes in her & they also knew the reason behind that so they had asked her if they should talk to Arnav about their marriage. Khushi had straightaway denied as she wanted Arnav to initiate & propose her.
Her wish had got fulfilled on Valentines day when Arnav had proposed her in a romantic way with lots of red roses, a beautiful diamond ring & the three golden words she was dying to hear from him. She had launched herself on him confessing her love back.
They had got married after two months of their confession. She had become Mrs. Arnav Singh Raizada & had come to stay with him in a small bungalow allotted by his company on his promotion alongwith a car.
He had taken her to Bali for honeymoon where he had shown her his romantic side in the most passionate way.
Arnav used to give her his maximum time & attention after returning from office. Their outdoor activities before marriage like long drive, ice cream treats, movies had continued after marriage as well with extra addition of candle light dinners, shopping & small trips out of the city on weekends.
She was revelling in the happiness of a blissful marital life with Arnav besides her always. His parents loved her just like their daughter. They didn't stay with them but in another city due to his father's job but they did manage to come & stay with them for a day or two once a month.
Sometimes she used to get scared of losing all the happiness she had gotten so effortlessly. So, she used to pray to God everyday to keep her happiness intact.
Time flew by. It was almost 8 months after their marriage.
Arnav had got a new contract to handle with foreign clients so he had got very busy with that. He used to leave early for office & return late than usual. They both didn't get much time to spend with each other from past few days. Khushi understood his work load & supported him. But, she did miss him.
So, today Khushi had decided to surprise Arnav at his office & have a cup of tea with him if possible. She didn't say but she was missing their time together. She got ready in his favourite colour dress, looking beautiful as always. She was a bit nervous as she was going to visit his office for the first time.
She hired a cab & set out towards Arnav's office. On the way, she saw Arnav's car parked near a garden so she asked the cab driver to stop. Getting down from the car she craned her neck looking around the garden for Arnav. She saw him going towards the swings kept for children to play. Though, she was confused to see him in the garden but at the same time she was delighted to get to spend some time with him in such a beautiful garden.
She paid the cab driver & entered the garden. She was moving towards where Arnav was standing when she suddenly saw a small cute girl of maybe 3 or 4 years running towards Arnav shouting Papa.. papa… with a middle aged woman walking behind her. According to her appearance she seemed to be the little girls nanny.
The little girl was wearing a pretty pink frock, with pink ribbons in her two pony tails. She was very cute & chubby with cute little button nose & extremely fair skin. Khushi immediately felt attracted towards her.
Arnav had picked the girl in his arms as soon as she reached him & had showered her face with numerous kisses. The girl was giggling as her papa's beard was tickling her skin.
Khushi stood rooted to her spot seeing the scene unfolding in front of her.
Arnav then took the baby to the small swings. Making her sit on it & securing her with the safety rod, he started swinging her pushing the swing from behind.
The girl was laughing happily & was asking her papa to push the swing with more force. “Faster papa, faster. I want to swing higher papa.”
Khushi was witnessing everything hiding behind a big tree. Her heart was breaking into pieces hearing that small girl calling Arnav as papa & seeing him so happy with her.
Then Arnav picked the girl from the swing & took her towards the small slides & then on the see-saw.
He was there for almost half an hour playing with that little girl. They were making a perfect father-daughter picture. Khushi berated herself for even thinking on those lines. Her Arnav can never cheat her. Maybe she is the daughter of his friend or close acquaintances. Yes, that is quite possible. She consoled herself but couldn't muster courage to go & confront him for the same. What if he says something which she won't be able to digest??
Carrying the baby in his arms Arnav moved towards the woman who had accompanied the baby & handed the baby to her but not before showering the baby's face with numerous kisses again. The girl didn't want to part from Arnav as Khushi could see tears rolling down her chubby cheeks which pinched Khushi's heart. The baby stopped crying when Arnav gave her a big chocolate bar from his pant pocket. Giving a pretty smile to Arnav she waved him bye & Arnav left from there.
Khushi hid herself behind the tree, not wanting Arnav to notice her.
Khushi saw a few more small children enter the garden & the little girl's face brightened. They might be her friends. They all went towards that small girl & all started playing together. The woman who had come with the small girl was sitting on a bench a bit away from them, keeping an eye on the girl playing with other children.
Khushi slowly moved towards the bench. The woman's handkerchief was fallen on the ground. Khushi picked it up & handed to the woman who thanked her with a smile.
Taking the chance, Khushi than sat besides her, exchanging pleasantries & introductions.
Even though the woman was responding to Khushi well, her eyes were still on the little girl who was engrossed with her friends in their play.
Then very deftly & cleverly Khushi got all the information from the woman about the little girl.
The little girl's name was Muskaan & the woman was her nanny. Muskaan doesn't have a mother but a father & grandparents. Her father Arnav Singh Raizada due to some reasons wasn't able to stay with her. But, he daily comes to meet her here in the garden & sometimes comes to the house where she stays with her grandparents. Nanny doesn't know exactly but she thinks that Muskaan's parents are either divorced or her mother is no more. But Arnav Singh Raizada loves his daughter very much.
Khushi was heartbroken to know that Arnav was already married & he was either a divorcee or a widower with a daughter when he married her. He cheated her by not revealing such big truths of his life & kept her & her parents in dark. He cheated her, betrayed her. She wasn't able to take it. She wanted to cry her heart out.
She stood up & giving a last look to the little girl playing who hadn't seen Khushi yet, she walked away from there towards her parents’ house.
Whenever she looked at her wedding pics her eyes would fill with tears of love & joy for having Arnav as her husband. But, today, she has tears of hurt & pain looking at those same pics as the most precious moments of her life are now the proofs of the cheating & betrayal she got from her husband.
They were about to celebrate their first anniversary in few months but Arnav's betrayal has ruined it all along with all her dreams & happiness.
She heard her parents banging the door again, requesting her to open the door & talk to them.
Keeping the album aside she stood up & opened the door, letting her parents in.
Her parents sighed in relief seeing their daughter fine.
The trio sat on the bed where Khushi told them everything she came to know about Arnav's first marriage, his first wife & his daughter.
She had expected her parents to gasp in shock & curse Arnav for ruining their daughter's life. But, nothing of sort happened. They seemed unaffected as if they already knew about everything.
“Mamma, papa… You both seem unaffected with such shocking news. So, did you both already know about all these before my marriage with Arnav?” She asked looking at her parents’ calm face in such heated situation.
Their silence proved her doubts right.
Now it was her time to gasp. Fresh tears rolled down her swollen eyes.
“How could you both do this to me, to your own daughter? How could you two also hide such a big truth from me that the person I'm going to marry is a divorcee or a widower & has a daughter as well. That his marriage with me is going to be his second marriage & I would be his second wife? Why didn't you tell me anything? Why?” She exclaimed, unbelievably.
“His marriage with you was definitely a second marriage beta but neither you are his second wife nor he was a divorcee or a widower when he married you.” Her father replied calmly wiping the tears from his daughter's pretty face.
Khushi scrunched her eyebrows in confusion.
His father held her hand. “Beta, whatever we are going to tell you just listen to it calmly. Ok?”
Sensing the seriousness of the situation, Khushi nodded but her heart was beating rapidly.
“Arnav did married twice, but both the times he married you only. So technically you are his, only wife. Neither first or second.” Shashi said.
Khushi's eyes rounded in shock. She looked at her mother who nodded her head.
“You & Arnav were married 6 years back for the first time. After two years of your marriage you both were blessed with a beautiful daughter. Everything was just perfect in your life. But unfortunately you met with a terrible accident. By God's grace you did survive in that accident but you had suffered a severe head injury causing you in short term memory loss. You had forgotten past 4 years of your life. You had forgotten your marriage, your husband & your daughter as well. The last thing you remembered was you tumbling down from your college stairs & getting severely injured. Doctor had strictly restricted us from forcefully reminding you anything as it could prove fatal to you. Maybe with due time & proper medication you might revive your memory or at least you may become emotionally strong to absorb such truths of your life.” Garima said caressing Khushi's head.
“But we couldn't hide the changed dates & years from you. So, in order to keep you stress free & ourselves from blurting out any truth unintentionally, we had to lie to you that the day you fell from the stairs in your college, you had shifted into coma for four years.” Her father said with teary eyes.
Khushi gulped painfully at the revelation.
“The most affected person at that time was Arnav. You had forgotten everything but he hadn't. He didn't accept defeat. He told us that what if you forgot everything. He will make new memories with you. He will make you fall in love with him again & will also marry you again. He fulfilled his promise. He proved that true love always wins. That's why we loved him so much even when according to you we had met him for the first time.” Garima said with a smile & then she stood up & moved out of the room. She came back holding a few albums in her hand which she had kept hidden from Khushi in her wardrobe.
She handed them to Khushi. Khushi opened them one by one.
The first album was of Khushi & Arnav's first marriage. She looked at each & every pic lovingly. Then there was an album in which there were pics of her pregnancy period, her baby shower, some pics from the hospital after she delivered her baby girl. Then there were pics of her & Arnav with their daughter & her parents & inlaws. She was caressing every pic trying to remember but she couldn't. Still she felt everything familiar & close to her heart.
“See your daughter's pic Khushi. She resembles so much to you. Her skin, her face, her hair everything is just like you, except her eyes which are just like her father.” Garima said pointing towards a pic of a cute baby girl.
Khushi caressed the baby's face in the pic. Indeed she was her replica. But has her father's beautiful eyes. No wonder she felt attracted towards Muskaan in the garden today.
“She was just two years old when you lost your memory.” Shashi said
“That means, Muskaan is….
“our daughter.” All the three turned their heads towards the voice.
Arnav was standing at the door looking with love filled eyes at his wife.
“Arnav…” Khushi whispered. Keeping all the albums aside, getting up from her place she ran towards him & embraced him with more love & admiration, then she already had for him.
“I'm sorry Arnav. I'm so sorry. You had to go through so much all alone. How can I forget you & our love?? How can I forget our daughter, our Muskaan??” She cried clinging to him.
“Shhh… Don't cry Khushi. It's not your fault. Don't blame yourself.” Arnav embraced her tight to himself. His own eyes were moist.
He got her back inside & made her sit on the bed. Her mother offered her water. Shashi had already rang Arnav telling him about Khushi locking herself in her room & her anger on him. Arnav had somehow got the idea of the possible reason.
Garima & Shashi left the room giving the couple privacy to talk.
Khushi was still sobbing. Arnav wiped her tears & kissed her forehead lovingly.
“I'm so sorry Arnav.” She apologized again, wrapping her arms around him.
“Don't cry baby. It's time for celebration. Even though you don't remember anything but now you know everything. Now we all can stay together. Our Musky doesn't need to stay away from her parents, with her grandparents.” Arnav said smiling, caressing her cheek.
Khushi looked at him with eyes full of questions.
Arnav understood her desperation to know everything.
“You had forgotten me & our love due to memoey loss. But, I was also determined to get you back with new memories. So, this time too I started the same way our first love story had started. From coming to stay near you, become friends with you, to make you fall in love with me, propose you, marry you, take you to Bali for honeymoon where we went for the first time, stay in the same bungalow we used to stay before but this time without any memories of previous time. I did all that in hope of reviving your memories back. But your brain is way too stubborn.” He joked hitting his forehead to her's playfully, making her pout adorably.
“You had forgotten everything related to us after your accident including our Musky. So, I had to keep her with my parents in another house, in this same city. I used to meet her everyday either in that house or in a garden as per the situation. When mom dad used to visit us they used to leave Musky with your parents; her nani-nanu. But you know, she used to ask me about you every time I met her that when will her mamma come back to her. I used to give her one or the other reason every time.” Arnav said in a shaky voice remembering his daughter's yearning for her mother.
“She remembers me?” Khushi asked incredulously. Arnav nodded, smiling.
“Yes. She does. She has a very sharp memory. Even though she was just 2 when you met with that accident & forgot her, but she never forgot you. She also has your pic with her which she keeps on looking whole day & keeps it under her pillow while sleeping as well.” Arnav said proudly.
“So that means if she had seen me today in the garden then she would have recognized me that very instant.” Khushi said regretting for not meeting her daughter in the garden itself.
“Garden?” Arnav asked, confused.
Then Khushi told him everything that happened in the garden that led her to a misunderstanding & then all the revelations.
Arnav pulled her in his arms, scared. “Thank God nothing happened to you due to the shock Khushi. Though in your last check up doctor had told that you are quite stronger now emotionally & we can slowly & gradually disclose everything to you. But you got to know everything today itself. I'm glad you took everything strongly, bravely & nothing happened to you otherwise I would have died. I have already lost you once. I couldn't lose you again, baby.” He exclaimed kissing every inch of her face & then captured her lips for a soul searing kiss.
“Oh so my monthly check up was for that purpose to know whether I'm now mentally stable or not & I thought you are very much concerned for my health.” Khushi said in mock anger pulling back from the kiss, to lighten the overwhelming situation.
Arnav chuckled & pulled her back in his embrace.
“I'm sorry, Arnav. You & our baby had to go through so much all alone. But I promise I will make up to both of you for all the lost time, by creating new memories.” She promised kissing his cheeks.
“Yes.. We will together create new memories.” Arnav replied cupping her face & kissing her forehead affectionately.
“Arnav, please take me to my daughter; our Musky. I want to see her, meet her, shower her with lots of love she missed all these years.” Khushi said desperately, holding Arnav's hand.
“Yes, let's go & surprise our Musky & my parents.” Arnav said getting up from the bed & moving out with his life, towards their life.

“Dadi, it's my birthday after two days. Won't my mamma come this time also?” An upset Muskaan asked her dadi sitting in her lap, looking at her mamma's pic in her hand.
Before her dadi could find a suitable reply they heard a voice.
“Your mamma is back to you, baby.”
Muskaan & her dadi looked at the source of the voice & had received an unexpected shock.
Muskaan's eyes twinkled in happiness seeing her mamma infront of her eyes. But this time not in the pic but very much in blood & flesh. She immediately jumped down from her dadi's lap & ran towards her mamma who was sitting on her knees on the floor, spreading her arms to embrace her daughter.
Khushi picked her daughter in her arms & showered her with kisses. Her face, hands, body wherever possible she showered her motherly love on her with tears of happiness flowing from everybody's eyes present there including the mother-daughter duo.
“Mamma, where did you go leaving your Musky alone? Didn't you miss me?” Muskaan complained cutely, cupping her mother's face in her small hands.
“Sorry baby. Mamma is so sorry. But mamma was not well so mamma was in the hospital all these days. But now mamma is all fit & fine & back to her baby. Now mamma will always stay with her Musky. We all will stay together forever. Mamma will not go anywhere leaving her baby again.” Khushi said kissing her baby's chubby cheeks.
“Promise??" Muskaan asked forwarding her small hand innocently.
“Promise.” Khushi said keeping her hand in her baby's small one.
“I love you mamma.” Muskaan said lovingly, circling her arms around her mamma's neck.
“Mamma loves you too, baby.” Khushi replied kissing her daughter's forehead.
“& I love both my girls very much.” Arnav said taking both his girls in his arms with contentment of getting his life back in its original form.
His parents were also shedding happy tears seeing the reunion of their son's family.
After two days Muskaan celebrated her fourth birthday with her full family, with her mother beside her after two years of separation.
Indeed it was the VICTORY OF TRUE LOVE of a husband for his wife & of a daughter for her mother.
The end.
