Chapter 6
Choco's POV
I slowly opened my eyes and freaked out for a split second because I forgot where I was. But I remembered, and calmed myself. I sat up and looked around.
After Hood told us he'd help us take down Todd, we decided to go to sleep, since it was, like, two in the morning. Hood was currently sleeping on his bed, and the four of us occupied different corners of the room. Hood didn't have any blankets or anything in his strangely empty house, so we had to sleep on the cold, hard ground.
Everyone else was still asleep. I looked down at my watch to see it was only six in the morning. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep any longer, so I stood up and stretched.
Cook crossed my mind. I had no idea what Todd wanted with him, but I knew in my gut it wasn't good. We had to rescue my brother and Rebel, and also kill Todd. But how could we do that when he had that giant Roll bot?
I turned around to see Hood sitting up in bed, staring at me. At least, I assumed he was. His hood was still up (did he wear that while he slept?), so I couldn't see his eyes. But he was facing my direction.
"You're creepy," I said.
Hood didn't respond.
"What do you have to offer us that can take down Todd?" I asked. "Because so far all you've shown us is that you live in an empty room and barely talk."
"I have insider information," Hood answered after a moment's silence.
"Such as?" I asked.
"I cannot tell you right now," Hood replied simply.
"Then you're useless to us," I said. "Thank you for the place to sleep, but I'm out now."
Without concern for my sleeping allies, I stalked towards the door, fully intending on leaving. But Hood's words stopped me.
"I wouldn't go out that door if I were you."
I hesitated. He sounded convincing, but everything he said sounded convincing, because he was creepy. I decided to ignore him and opened the metal door.
As soon as I stepped outside, a Radish bot happened to be hovering by the alleyway that Hood's dwelling was in. It turned its head to look at me.
A giant blast of energy flew past me and exploded on the bot, blowing it up. I felt a hand grab me and pull me inside. The door slammed shut.
I was still processing, it all happened so fast. When I collected my thoughts, I looked at Hood, who was holding a huge cannon-looking thing. That must've been where the blast came from. The others were stirring from the commotion, but I ignored them.
"Where were you keeping that cannon this whole time?" I asked. "There is literally nowhere in this empty room where it could've been hidden."
"Never walk outside without checking to see if there are bots," Hood said, ignoring my question.
"How am I supposed to do that?" I asked. "There aren't any windows!"
"What's going on?" Glitch asked from the floor.
"She almost got all of us killed," Hood said.
"What?!" Leo exclaimed.
"I did not!" I shouted in protest.
"Everyone calm down," Naomi spoke up. "We can't be arguing like this all the time. We need to work together if we want to take down Todd."
"There she goes again with her 'peace' bullshit," Leo muttered. Naomi looked hurt.
"Can you chill with that?" Glitch asked Leo. "She's just trying to keep us from killing each other."
"She's not doing a very good job at it," I mumbled.
"If you all would stop arguing, I could tell you how we're going to kill Todd," Hood spoke up.
That got our attention. We all looked at the mysterious dude eagerly.

Rebel's POV
I didn't get any sleep. Todd came in at some point and offered a place in his bedroom, which I immediately declined. Instead, I sat in the control room, watching the contestants in the fifth Games.
There were only twelve of them left, half of what they started with. One of the monitors kept a list of all the contestants. The dead competitors had "DECEASED" written in red next to their names.
Zander, Geneva, Aj, Corey, Dagger, Tech, Chess, Dark, Anna, Blue, Andrew, and Infinity were all dead. I didn't know any of them except for Infinity, my best friend. I watched her die.
I also happened to watch two more deaths that night while being unable to sleep. I had grown to like Anna because of how nice she was to Alvin, the boy with the cloak I had seen chasing the bald man that killed Infinity. Anna was climbing a tree, searching for food, when a blast had hit her, knocking her out of the tree and killing her on impact with the ground. Blue had found a blaster somewhere and fired it at Anna with no hesitation, then was immediately stabbed in the back of the neck by Alvin, killing Blue as well.
The whole thing sickened me, but I knew it wasn't their fault. I was like that too during my Games. But the more I thought about it, the more the possibility that Todd had rigged the Games for me seemed plausible. I really wanted to know if he did it. What if my win wasn't deserved?
Maybe I could agree to be his cohost until he tells me his secret. Then I can run, I thought to myself. But I can't run. The bots are always watching me.
I turned around to see a bot staring at me. Pretty sure it was like that all night.
"You're ugly," I commented.
The bot didn't respond. I rolled my eyes.
Suddenly, Todd entered the room. "Rebel! How's my favorite prisoner?" he asked cheerfully.
"Great, thanks," I replied. "Although I ordered room service a few hours ago and they still haven't shown up."
Todd chuckled. "Always the joker in this relationship."
I frowned. "What relationship?"
Todd ignored me. "But you can be so much more. Think about it. You and me, as host and cohost of the Radish Games, we would be the most powerful beings in the city!"
I hesitated. "What would you do if I said no?"
"Probably kill you," Todd responded. He laughed at my expression. "I'm kidding. I would just explain to you why you should reconsider your answer."
"So basically I have no choice," I realized.
Todd shrugged and walked away from me to look at the monitors of the Games. After a few seconds, he spoke again.
"Tomorrow night is the annual Radish Festival. I already told the city I would reveal a special announcement there. And..."
"The announcement is that I'm gonna be your cohost," I finished.
Todd nodded. "The only thing I need now is for you to say yes."
He looked almost pitiful, staring at me with hope in his eyes. I really wanted to scream at him for being crazy, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Instead, I simply said "Yes."

Leo's POV
"Tomorrow night, the Supreme Radish is hosting the annual Radish Festival in Victor Square. He has a big surprise announcement that he will be revealing there," Hood said.
"What is it?" Naomi asked.
"I do not know," he answered. "But I do know that he will be in Victor Square, so his mansion will be unmanned."
"So we can go rescue Rebel during the festival!" Glitch exclaimed.
"And Cook," Choco added.
Hood nodded. "Since the Radish will not be there, it is unlikely that the Roll Bot will be unleashed, giving you four a better chance at surviving."
"You're not coming with us?" Naomi asked.
"I cannot," Hood replied. "The rescue mission will be entirely up to you."
"What are we going to do until then?" I asked. "The festival isn't until tomorrow night."
Hood walked over to the far wall. "You are all in desperate need of an upgrade." He touched a random part of the wall, and it began to slide away.
A room filled with technology was revealed on the other side. Everything looked high-tech, which was a huge contrast to the empty white room we had spent the night in.
"Why couldn't we have slept in there?" I asked.
"If you're going to take down the Supreme Radish, you're going to need more than just your fists," Hood said, ignoring me.
"I do just fine with my fists," Choco scoffed.
Hood looked at her for a few seconds, then walked into the new room. A few seconds later, he came back out, carrying a sleek black staff. He handed it to Choco. "Try swinging this around."
She took it warily, and began to swing it, pretending to hit bots.
"It can also be separated into two parts," Hood said.
Choco looked at the staff and pulled it apart. It was now two smaller staffs, and it looked like electricity was crackling on an end of each. She smiled and began swinging those around.
Hood turned to Glitch. "And you just have a knife. You're going to need more than that."
Glitch shrugged.
Hood walked into the room again, then came back out with a spear-looking thing. The point was made of a black metal.
"This is made of one of the strongest metals on the planet," Hood said. "Try it out."
Glitch tried swinging around the spear and stabbing it into imaginary enemies. He grinned. "I could get used to this."
"You need something better than that flimsy bow," Hood said to Naomi.
Naomi held her bow close to her. "But I love my bow. I made it myself years ago."
Hood pulled a sleeker bow out of the room, but Naomi shook her head. "Nope. I refuse. I can't get used to anything but my own bow."
Frowning (probably, I can't see his face), Hood walked back into the room. He came back out with metal arrows.
"At least try shooting these instead of regular arrows," he said. "These are heat-inducing arrows. They'll burn through anything they hit."
Naomi took them and notched one in her bow. "Don't shoot it in here!" Hood shouted. Naomi lowered her weapon sheepishly.
Hood then turned to me. "What weapon do you use?"
"Don't use one. I have my nukes," I answered proudly, taking one out of my tool belt to show him.
"And what happens if you run out of nukes?" Hood asked.
I scoffed. "I won't."
Hood walked into the room anyway and came back out with what looked like a pistol, but with a strange-looking barrel that was more conical.
"Magnetic wave pistol. Shoots magnetic waves so powerful they'll knock any enemies away from you. Take it just in case," Hood explained.
"Thank you," I said, taking the pistol and holestering it in my tool belt.
The other three were standing together as if they were superheroes.
"I like our odds now," Choco boasted.
"Todd doesn't stand a chance," Glitch added.
"We'll save you, Rebel!" Naomi cheered.
I stood with the other three. "Let's go take down the Supreme Radish."
