An arranged marrige

" Alice!" I heard my mother call for me. I rushed down the hall to my sisters room."Alice, go get Victoria ready to meet the Van dorts," she ordered. I sighed." But mother, there is still 40 minute's left!" I argued. My mother's cold dark brown eyes stared into my blue eyes. I hung my head." Yes, mother." I acknowledged. She sniffed and left the room. Ever since our dear caretaker Hildegarde died I would have to be the one to fix up Victoria. I went to Victoria's closet and pulled out her maroon cotton dress with black buttons. Her corset had been tied already. I however, refuse to wear one. My sister and I are complete opposites. I am clumsy and loud, she is graceful and quiet. She knits, I paint. I formed her chocolate brown hair into a perfect bun. "So, are you excited to meet Victor?" I asked. She looked down. "We haven't even met before. What if we have nothing in common?" I sat down on her bed. "Like our parents care about that.." I gave her a hug. "I'm sure it will work" I encouraged. I looked down. "Oh dear, I need to get ready too. I'll see you in a bit." I walked back to my room. I rummaged through my closet and found my favorite dress. It was baby blue, and had a yellow collar with a button and a white lace trim down the waist line. The sleeves stopped just under my elbow. I pulled on my black boots and quickly brushed my honey colored locks. Then rushed down the stairs to see my parents, sister, and our butler Emil waiting for me. The doorbell rang, and the door swung open. A plump older woman, with a fur scarf was standing next to a scrawny man with a white mustache. Next to him was a thin young man with deep brown eyes, and pale skin. He had very dark brown hair, and was wearing a suit. He was quite handsome. He looked familar. Then I remebered We had met 2 years ago. "Oh hello! You must be Victoria!" The woman bubbled. She looked at me. "And you must be the younger sister! Lovely ladies, aren't they William?" The man with a mustache nodded."You picked a winner this time Victor!" William elbowed Victor. The woman rolled her eyes. My mother smiled curtly," Nell, William come inside, welcome to our home." She looked at my father. " Say something Finnis." She hissed through clenched teeth. He smiled. "Welcome, please join us in the tea room."My mother lead the Van-Dorts to the west room. We all sat down at the table. William and Nell next to my parents. Victoria sat down next to Victor and I seated myself across from him. " Maudeline, Finis, your home is lovely!" Nell gushed. William drew his attention towards me, " And you must be Miss Victoria," I shook my head. "Oh, no, I am Alice, Victoria's younger sister." I clarified. "And what do you like to do love?" Nell inquired. "Well," I started, "I like to make art and draw," William looked at Victor. " Victor here likes to draw butterflies isn't that right?" Victor smiled shyly." Y-yes I do.." He stammered. For the next hour our parents talked about the wedding and us. While Victor and Victoria got acquainted. They found out they didn't have much in common. Every so often I caught Victor looking at me. We started to talk and found out we liked many of the same things and were very similar. My mother gasped." Oh Lord! We need to meet Pastor Galswells in 30 minutes for the rehearsal!" she exclaimed "We need to get the rings and the vows!" Our parents ran to get the vows and rings and Victoria rushed upstairs to finish getting ready. That left me with Victor. We sat down and their was a long awkward pause. He then glanced over at the piano. He picked up the songs laying on top of it. "Iv'e never heard of this song before..." he marveled. I blushed. "Well actually I wrote them." He looked at me. "Do you also play the piano? he nervously asked. "Um, no. Mother won't let me near it. But I write songs" We stared at each other for a bit then looked away. " You are quite different from your sister. You're v-very uniqe and creative." I handed him the flower that was in the vase on top of the piano. "Thank you." we both smiled. My father came in the room. "Let's go to the rehearsal!" he declared. We quickly got up and went to the chapel.
